as i mentioned early in week, solihull had recently fixed their scanner, yet the other day one has been taken off the wall completly (wires still there) and the other is still on but doesnt scan anything, no way to reboot it either as all cables behind the unit. I did look for a mse friend of martins walking round with the scanner attached to a battery pack trying to find 1p items but didnt lol ;)

Think I found the only 2 packs of Chilli Peanuts in NI yesterday, in Ballymoney, also got 9 rimblocks there and 1 in Coleraine. Loads of teabags in both stores and striped tumblers in Coleraine.

Happy days, been looking for the peanuts for ages, and so glad to get some more rimblocks, can't believe anyone would pay £2.70 for them.

2 scanners in sheffield Addeydale rd - one has not been working for months ,has a out of order sticker covering screen - the other one (pet food aisle) kept saying 'contact an assistant ' (or something !) last week but today was totally blank - then noticed it wasnt even plugged in !! wasnt brave enough to move the trolleys from in front and plug it back in though !!
Has anyone spotted scanners at infirmary rd sheffield ??

Scanner locations (that I know of):

    • Newtownards - none that staff could point me to
    • Bangor (Bloomfields) - none that I can find
    • Bangor (Springhill) - womens clothing not working, bedding aisle not working, tea/coffee aisle working ok
    • Knocknagoney - kids aisle working, baby aisle or somewhere around there not working, chocolate & sweets aisle at checkout end working
    • Connswater - hidden in the clothing section backing onto the seasonal aisle as you enter the store
    • Newtownbreda - one in clothing not working, one further down the store near freezers on opposite side is working, one in the phones aisle working
No 1p items today but did get 2 of the Geo Spot dinner sets. I actually saw my soon to be Ex wandering around near that section so almost bottled it. He's found somewhere to live 'for the meantime' so maybe I should have told him about the £8 dinner sets ......... nah :rotfl:

Noticed some red conical wine glasses with 3 for 2 stickers on, but £1.75 on the SEL, think the offer is over. Wonder if they would work out the same as the striped tumblers deal? Has anyone bought these? Would work out at £1.75 for 3 if DTD still working.

I saw some 3 for 2 wine glasses today too! SEL Was £3.50. They were purple. I carried them around in my trolley for a while until I decided that even if I got DTD, I'd still pay over a pound each for them - alright if they were nice, but they were 'orrible looking things! :rotfl:

Sometimes they're just not worth the cupboard space, no matter how good a deal they are!

Just posting as I don't want a reputation as a lurker, everytime I read someone saying something about lurkers I have this little feeling of guilt and almost that I am naughty for reading the posts without contributing.

I really enjoy reading the posts and I am grateful to anyone that has pointed me in the right direction for a bargain, or to save money. But I also feel that unless I have something to contribute then who really wants to see little old me say Hi!!!! I would love to tell a good story or two of the many 1p items I have found, but my local seems to always be on the ball, although I know I have competition, so they probably beat me to it and good luck to them. I feel really guilty if I drag my 9 month old out on the bus, in the buggy for a wasted trip. So I rely on my OH, when he's not at work to take me, as I don't drive.

Just pointing out that although I lurk, I really would like to contribute, it is not from lack of trying. I did post when I found moshi monsters a while back, but it was store specific as wrong product on wrong SEL, but that was a DTD anyway.

I also agree that this thread should be left as is..I enjoy reading it all whether it be 1p related or DTD or anything and as someone else pointed out, it helps all if some one mentions a good deal here. Wish someone had mentioned the £1 deal for xbox live as I saw that too late. Right back to my usual place of lurking..sorry for going on, hope to be more helpful in the future.

Hi  and yes we would like to hear a hi from 'little old you'!! :D
I mean I post!! lol :D (sadly not little though! :( lol)

when 'we' talk of lurkers I think I can say for all :o:) that by that we mean the 'ones' that 'grab' any said bargains and never have any intentions of posting if they find a new bargain (let alone leave any for others!) i.e e-bayers!!

I 'lurked' for a while back when I first joined, until I found my first bargain to post..............and then well sort of got draaaaaaaaaaawn lol in and now addicted!! :o:D

ok just wanted to say that :),back now to catching up on this thread!! :D

Been very busy over the weekend and not had time to read everything thats been posted, but I was wondering, has anyone tried the clever idea that was posted the other night (can't remember who by off the top of my head) of taking a picture of a barcode on your phone, then scanning that at the price check machine?

Just wondering if it worked? Would be a great way to price check lots of items without lugging them to the scanner :)
