hi, new here and loving it ! really grateful for all the info as i am out of work due to problems with my son and need to really watch the pennies.

i have got to grips with the DTD malarky now lol but if i went into tesco , bought the dinner set and it went through at £25 , i am stuck with it then ?
would only really want it if it was very cheap or free !

sorry if im being thick , like i say im new and been rubbish with money until now :rotfl:

No, the easiest way is to just buy it with a few bits of shopping you planned to get, watch as it gets scanned by the SA, if you see it come up at £50 then dont say anything, but it you see it scan at £25, then stop the SA and say " could you cancel that as I thought it was cheaper".

Then if you get charged £50 go to customer servcies and tell them you have been overcharged, and go from there, dont immediately demand DTD as you dont want to give the impression you were aware of what would happen.

There is no guarantee they will process it without a fuss, they may well just try and refund the price and resell it at the cheaper price, but that is the time to point out the blue sign.

If they really stand their ground, then you can call Head Office but if you want to give up then just ask for a refund "so you can take your business elsewhere" but this will make it look obvious what you were doing.

Best option, if you can afford it, if this does happen is to walk out and then just return the item for a normal refund when the staff have changed maybe the next day. Depends on whether you want to argue and raise your "profile"

But on their blue "promise" board is their policy on refunds which states they will happily refund up to 28 days I think with receipt and goods in original condition so you wouldnt be stuck with it as long as you still have receipt.
Its just whether you can afford to have £50 ring fenced in your account while its sorted out

Damn.... I was just looking for the SEL to say £25.00.

Didn't realise that they had a sticker on the box.... took one look at Ramsey's ugly mug and did a runner, didn't think to look for a sticker like on the glasses and megablocks.

Will be back at a Surrey store soon... unless I am beaten to it.

Min didn't have a sticker on the box, just a larger than usual SEL I'd say envelope size, saying £25 and I think it said the offer finished either 3/7/11 or 5/7/11

there is no sticker on mine! just a white normal sel of 25.00GBP under it... ;) (they removed it at the new Y******y store in W London... so no luck there probably. didn't see any in Bullsbridge... )

a bit lazy today but will get out and check one more store for the set as I could do with two of them for my new home... :D

Quick update for anyone in the Surrey area that may use the same stores as me.

    Sutton:

Fisher Price Bigfoot £25.00 loads left
Magablock - none left - got last one yesterday for fee!
    No sweeties, black magic etc
Striped glasses 4 are still scanning at a fiver with the 4 for £3 labels on so £4.00 DTD loads left
Gordon Ramsey dinner service - on the top shelf for re-filling - but not on shelf and no SEL - will keep an eye on.

    New Malden

Gordon Ramsey dinner set - 4 on shelf but SEL says £50.00 DAMN
    No bigfoot
    No sweeties
Finest meal deal shelf still full of wrong stuff so deal not going through... can get the meal for nothing with the DTD

    Purley:

    Loads of custard for 40p
Kids gardening set (yellow one) 50p loads left
    Nothing much else there though.

    Happy hunting

Hi i know where the scanner is in purley but can you tell me please if you know if they have them and where are they in the sutton and new maldon tescos please. i also visit these three tescos if i find anything i will let you know.

Yes, I bet they are! I was ;)

No Gordon Ramsey in my local but I managed to pick up the famous stripey black tumblers, labelled 4 for £3 as before but scanned at £1.27 each. £4.16 DTD back, didn't even have to prompt for it! :T
