I am an avid reader of this but never post because I always forget my password, but I needed to post this one.
Today I was chuffed to find some Roses, scanned 18 boxes through and some other shopping, was about to pay (card in hand) and someone came over and said YOU CAN'T BUY THOSE. NOT FOR 1P.
The floor manager came and took my already packed shopping away and cancelled the transaction. He said all he could do was to call the manager- and so I waited, and she looked bemused and said they couldn't sell them to me. -was advised that I could complain to customer services in Dundee. -and I might!
In the end I walked out empty handed- left the rest of the shopping.
Hope you all have better luck!!
Well it is experiences like that, which make me feel even less guilty for getting £15 back on DTD overcharge bacon this morning. Add to that £50 odd pound for chocs over the weekend.
Don't give up.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

He then asked if he could call the manager, the manager was called and she said we cant sell it to you for 1p. My brother told her that the SA was rude to him by saying stuff about china and she started laughing... my brother lost it and started swearing. The security was called and he started grabbing and tackling him. He was taken to the office and police were called. They didn't do anything and now he has been banned from Tescos for 6months. I have SIA and I have never ever touched a person and we're not supposed to do that why do Tesco security staff touch people let alone tackle them? Well 40mins after the ban he went to another tesco 4 miles away and got 12 roses.:rotfl:He thinks there's no point complaining about the tackling bit and security grabbing him because he was swearing at them as well but I think he has every right to complain to the head office.life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0

Hi
I just have a quick (probably dumb) question....does the item need to match exactly the barcose on the lists, or is it pot luck and other barcodes may work too?
Also what are the price scanners that I have seen mention of, are they ones that you can take around the shop, or are they fixed points in store?

My brother agrees with you but I don't agree with neither of you. I have SIA license and worked as a security for couple of years in the past and never ever have I touched or grabbed a person. During your the training for SIA license they tell you not to grab or touch people and if your life is in danger just move away and call the police. Just because he swore doesn't mean they have to grab him and tackle him. Mind you they were the ones that started with the "this is not China we don't sell things for 1p" and even the female manager started laughing when he complained about the SA.0 -

First rule of 1p shopping- Self Scan, do it as fast as you can and pay cash. Less buttons to press and once you have paid, legally the goods are yours.
If you hvae lots of shopping, then scan the 1p items, pay and then start again.
With the mice, cos of the security tag, buy a few things with it, scan the mouse first, so it is off the screen, and then there is only one screen with the price on it to catch their attention.
THis is if the system recognises it will have a tag.
If it does, pay for it then ask for the tag to be removed, SA didn't look at my receipt the other day.0 -

Stick to the barcodes given but use the scanner if you want to check others. You might find a new 1p item!weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

All the SA needed to say was "the price is wrong in the system, I can sell these to you, but it will be at the price on the shelf" and then priced them at 1.32 (though SEL says 70p in on T near me).
No need to mention China, plenty of things in this country are sold for 1p, for instance penny sweets, so thats bordering racism, suggesting everything in China is 1p. Its not obviously, if not just because they don't use sterling..................0 -
Scanners are on pillars so have a walk around your store and keep an eye towards the ceiling to see if you can spot the pillars. Not every pillar has one but from experience then main places to have them are in the health & beauty, toys/electricals and clothing. Clothing tends to be the best bet.0
