Does the self service check allow it automatically?

Yep, no problem with 1p stuff scanning through self service.

The store policy varies between stores. In the store I work in if an item scans at 1p we are not allowed to sell it (and if you work on a checkout and do you are in a whole heap of trouble). I know some stores sell 1p items but as I say the policy is different in different stores unfortunately.

Why? Silly rules. Prices are set by head office, so why not sell them at 1p?

Anyhow - got my first 1p bargain! 3 packs of playmobil pirates. Only pirates are 1p, none of the others.

Also got some Lego Starwars and Atlantis Lego stuff reduced by 75% which I bought for birthdays ahead. Unfortunately, the Sylvanian family figures weren't marked up on the shelf, didn't come up on the scan and therefore the staff wasn't allowed to sell them.

    Tesco's in Dukes Green/Feltham btw

there were quite a few Puff Pastry Mince Pies available (packs of 4) - normally priced around £1.30p but reduced to 1p. Sadly I couldn't take any because I'm a vegetarian They looked very nice though![/QUOTE]

Couldnt find pirates, shallots, mustard, etc but... did find some left over xmas bits, and got my kids a bag each of white choc coins, xmas penguin lollies, and Cadburys Wishes for 1p each.

Happy kids for the grand cost of 8p :T

I don't understand why some stores won't sell 1p items. Surely as one poster says, the prices are set by HO. Before I knew about this thread I have got 1p items over the years, that have gone through fine. I bought some 1 p items on Sunday and went through the checkout with a SA fine. Bought the 2p shallots today (a bit of an issue in that I was charged full price, but I went to CS)...The SEL showed the shallots as 2p. Having said that, the SA whisked it away after I spoke to them!
  • I nipped to Tesco tonight. Didn't managed to get any of the 1p bargains I was hoping for (H&S, chocolates and Playmobil Pirates) however I did manage to pick up an Oxo Snap Lock tin opener (part of the reason I went to Tesco was for a new tin opener) which didn't have a price on. Scanned at £1. Generally retails between £10-£15!

I take offence at your comment. Especially as I'm Welsh!
