Would any of you go as far as to sneak drinks into a pub?

i also find drink very expensive especially at weddings hotels know how to charge a case of bud or suchlike wrapped as wedding gift sorts it or a 40 ouncer works every time believe me:beer:
  • When I go to a pub or bar it's usually to socialise with friends rather than get drunk (health freak!). So I usually have a blackcurrant and soda water - about 15 - 50p depending which bar you're in. I certainly don't begrudge that seeing as I'm using their facilities. I also drink wine and soda in tall glasses with lots of ice. Delicious and can last longer than other drinks.

I wouldn't take my own alcohol into a bar or pub. But I can see why people would - they are horribly expensive. I personally would rather invite my friends over to my place and spend the money on making a nice dinner and having a few bottles of wine.

Busy student pubs and wedding venues make a killing and have no excuse for high prices when they have a captive audience and/or high turnover, if you are 'ripping these off' then I say fair enough.
  • takes the pss a bit, if you wanna drink your own why not just go somewhere else. I used to drink before going out, say a £3 bottle of wine (each or shared!). And then id go off clubbing and not drink anything else. Its kinda sad that we have such a strong association with drinking and having fun. An article in the paper yesterday pointed out that students are one of the most sleep deprived sections of society. Why? Because of late night drinking. I know for a fact that many of my peers at uni were only in debt because of unneccesary spending, lets hope MSE can get to people early on...!

  • As a guy, it's not so easy sneaking drinks into a pub/club as I don't have a bag.

Usually the bouncers frisk us lads before going in, meaning a hipflask is probably out of the question ;)

  • I used to take in some vodka in my handbag when we had balls as they were in very expensive venues that take advantage of the captive audience. I used to pay for all my soft drinks so they still got some money. I wouldn't do it at a pub, I limit how much money I take with me and try to drink whatevers cheap that I like often halfs of cider (local if possible) or if wines cheap, that, as it takes me longer to drink than spirits and mixers. If I'm drinking soft drinks I'll usually have one proper drink like ginger beer (usually 1.30 ) then switch to water or squash so I don't feel I'm missing out but I'll spend <£2.:A

LOL - good one. How about taking your own kebab and ask the pub if they'll stick it in the microwave...

For the "I'm not paying that" brigade - how about getting pi$$sed then saving on the taxi fare by driving home?
