i think if you sign something saying "it will be delivered in 3 days ect" then i think you have grounds for asking for an automatic refund..
  • Gillibabes, can I ask what have you decided to do??? Are you going for the refund???:(

Hey Esqui, you don't happen to work in the Colchester Tollgate Curry's by any chance do you?.

Sadly not, I'm on the South Coast.

Also, sirmarcus, we have discussed this: using that email address does not work. I've tested using my own, the dixons.co.uk domain is only for web sales. (though it may come back soon!)

@rgay1992 - no-one 'signs' anything, although the delivery confirmation sheet states "The item you are ordered is not current in stock. We aim to get your product to you asap, and when the item arrives in our warehouse, we will contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date" - or words to that effect. The problem came where the information available to every member of staff was "we have 2500 TVs coming in on the 3rd September" - a delivery which subsequently failed. The reason for this is that in our central warehouse in Newark, there is a very tightly run operation, and each supplier has to get their lorry into the correct bay at the right time and unload within a certain period. If one is delayed, this causes a knock-on effect, and so if a lorry misses its time slot, it cannot deliver and has to be rebooked - to avoid the other deliveries that day being knocked back. I imagine that's how this happened (although, yeah...two weeks?)

  • Update guys! I don't give up easily!! I phoned Curry's today and demanded to speak to a manager, who was very adamant that I have to wait the 28 days for my telly (providing it comes back into stock!! No guarantees!) I've just checked their terms and conditons, which state had I reserved to collect from my local store I could have the telly at the advertised price of £399, even if I'd paid for it on line. I'm now awaiting another phone call from a more Senior manager to see if I can collect one of the three they have left at my local store, hopefully using the terms and conditions as anchor to have what I've paid for without having to wait anoter month!! It doesn't make sense does it that they have three in store, but have none available??!! What's the betting its not going to work???:(

It will not be 28 days, unless LG fail another delivery - and given the sheer number of orders on this line awaiting, they are to deliver or suffer a painful death. These terms and conditions confuse me though, which ones where? You would be able to reserve and collect if there was stock in store at the time of making the reservation, but you would pay in-store, the price online at the time of reservation. And it's not £399 online.

Thanks Esqui for your reply. At the time I purchased the T.V on line is was indeed the £399 price that's what getting to me. I've paid for a TV that was on sale on-line as well as in store which was selling at the same price. But, if I want my telly I have to pay the extra £80 to get the one that's available in store??!!??!! Frustrated is not the word. I have since looked on Amazon and the same telly is for sale there for £399 with free delivery. I may just ask for my money back!! The terms and conditions were under the 'general terms and conditions of sale' which stated that, if something becomes unavailable we MAY offer you an alternative or suggest you visit one of our stores. It also states that, had I reserved on-line, 'our store will supply the goods at the on-line price which applied when you chose to reserve and collect. This may be cheaper than the usual in-store price' Sounds like I have a case doesn't it???!!!

Reserving online only refers to store-pickups, not to ordering one via the website for delivery.

  • That's my point. Had the web-site at the time of ordering stated out of stock, I would have ordered to pick up from store, but it didn't. So I ordered for it to be delivered, easier as I work full time. However, ten days later, I find out they have no more in stock, only at my local store and the sale has finished and I can only have one of them if I pay the difference,.Aren't they just being pendantic for not letting me have one at the price I paid if I'm willing to collect. Its just a play on words really isn't it?? Or a scam as has been previously been suggested!!
  • I haven't shopped at currys since a battleaxe shouted at me and belittled me for questioning the rubbish she was spouting to my mate about linux being unuseable. Lots of good retailers want your trade, don't go chasing after currys
I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!
