Currys- took money but no TV! Bank holiday deals.

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone else got stung by Currys over the bank holiday.
There were several companies offering a 42" LG LCDTV for £399.00. I decided (more fool me) to go with Currys as they advertised free delivery within 3 days. They duly took the money from my bank account. Three days passed though and there was no TV. I rang them ad then they chose to tell me that they were out of stock.
They now say that it could be 28 days before they get any stock in and that even then they have more people who have bought than they have stock.
They even said that after the 28 days they may still have to give me a refund. However, all the other companies have now put up their prices, as have Currys. They've got stock in the shops which they are charging £479.00 for but they won't let me have one of these.
I am FURIOUS! They have stopped me getting the deal price from someone else and they really couldn't care less. They wouldn't let me speak to a manager and basically didn't give a stuff.
I'm at a loss as to what to do now.
Can they take the money and then provide no goods, leaving me without a TV for a month or get a refund and it cost me more to get now the deals are off.
Does anybody have any advice or had a similar experience? I'd love to know. Oh, and avoid Currys at all costs. I would now rather set fire to my hair and beat out the flames with a hammer than buy anything from them again.
Thanks for reading my rant!

Actually I think the OP has a point to be livid here. If Currys have the TV's in stock in their shops then they are blatantly not out of stock and are therefore lying. Report them to trading standards as in my opinion it is breach of contract.
The OP has signed and paid for goods and rightfully expects to receive those goods. If currys are now selling the same tv's in their shops then surely they must be duty bound to provide the OP with one of these televisions. On what grounds are they refusing?0 -
They were due to come into the main warehouse on the 3rd September. LG didn't deliver.
There's another 3000 on order which are coming in in about 10 days.
It's a case of having to either wait or cancel. It's been pretty annoying, I'll give it that, but they are on their waySquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

Its a contract and you can demand they supply the TV for the price charged within a reasonable time. What is a reasonable time? I do not think a month is. Especially as they have the TV in stock!! And regardless of the higher price on it now, they can and should supply you with it NOW at the price you paid.
This is clearly a Currys scam. They have advertised a good buy, obviously without intending to meet their contractual obligations, when they are in a position to do so. That is fraud and deception in my book, apart from breach of contract, and they should be reported to ConsumerDirect, which can be done online, who may then ask the Trading Standards Dept of your local council to investigate, including contacting Currys to ask them why they have not completed your order when they are clearly able to.0 -

How is it b!!!!!!s? The OP has a contract with them for a particular type of TV which they obviously have in stock and yet they are saying it isn't in stock. That is blatant bu!!!!!t by Currys and is deception.
As I said before OP contact trading standards ASAP.0 -

Extremely annoying granted.
However, it will be a nightmare to enforce the contract. A Court would award damages which ought to be a refund plus any extra which the OP is required to pay to a third party for the same item.
In my experience contacting Trading Standards is an utter waste of time.0 -
Simple option get a refund.... buy another TV problem sorted.... Never shop in Currys again.... You should get a refund easy enough if they cannot supply you with the TV
