Of course it's you being greedy Mcdonag, you deprived 4 other people from obtaining that Xbox from Tesco for free, and you are shortening the lifespan of this loophole by overplaying it.

If you want an xbox, go travel arround and find one. Mcdonag did well, and I praise him for spending his time searching and getting good results from it - can't do anything sitting on your rear all day!

I would like to point out that I did not ask for 5 free xboxes. I simply went into Tesco to buy one only to find out that I had been overcharged by £20.

When I complained, the manager said that I could have a game for free. I pointed out that I didn't want a free game and wanted tesco to comply with their own policy and refund me and for me to retain the goods. The manager refused so I returned the goods and got a full refund instead, keeping the receipts.

This happened at another 4 stores!!! On each occasion, I simply called Head Office and complained.

I received a call from Head Office a couple of hours later and was told that as a result of a nationwide overcharge, I was to go to each Tesco's branch. were an Xbox would be waiting for me free of charge.

The anomily here is that I didn't keep the goods in the first place, like all the other people. In fact I had returned the goods and got a full refund but kept my original receipts.

Not only that, I also received £55 as compensation for all the petrol that I had used trying to get the consoles in the first place.

If that makes me greedy then so be it but I would like to add that I donated an xbox to my local church youth club, a local primary after school club and gave one to a friend, my sister and kept one for my son.

I have not deprived anyone from getting an xbox as there was over 2000 consoles given away by Tesco as a result of the error, totalling over £640,000 and that was in the first week. As a result of my initial complaints, each branch failed to remove the incorrect prices, resulting in further breaches of the law and further free consoles to anyone bothering to notice the overcharge and complaining. All they had to do on each occasion was simply to remove an A4 poster!!!

This cockup has been in existance for over three weeks now, Tesco have had ample opportunity to resolve this issue and have failed to do so, so goodness knows how many they have given away by now.

This 'loophole' as you call it is part of Tesco pricing policy and has been in existance for many years and the lifespan will not be shortened as a result of this. This has been going on for years and will go on for many more.

It was brought into force to combat the large number of complaints that Trading Standards received along with the resulting guilty charges and fines.

Tesco are habitually breaking the law by knowingly overcharging customers on a daily basis and they give away the product to stop getting heavy fines (£2000 per item). My free xboxes have infact saved Tesco getting potentially £10,000 in fines.

Here here, it's very public spirited mcdonag and don't let a sour person without an xbox tell you otherwise ;)

oxford street was a nightmare, police were called cause there were tons of people after the xbox, i rekon the most they had were 15 and around 200 people after them, we did not know they were for £100 until after we saw people grabbing them, .

we just went straight for the dvds and managed to get band of brothers, pink panther, godfather and LOTR,

maybe we didnt go for the xbox we were lucky to grab the dvd's.

does anyone know if they will have new stock tomm, i reckon they prob might do, id be surprised if the dvd boxsets were for one day only. they wont have the xbox's so its not worth asking lol.

someone should just pop in and ask before going to work.
  • Justin's thinking of other people, that's the point of his post. I believe he already has Sony and Microsoft consoles.
