Morning, blowing a gale here.I've taken the hound out so he's snoring away now.The BM is doing its stuff,DW been on and needs emptying, then big tidy up,as the viewer who didnt come last week is coming tomorrow.Apparently he 'forgot' due to the Bank Holiday! Now call me cynical
,but if I had already sold my house as he is meant to have, looking for a new one would be high on my list of priorities, and I don't think I would have forgotten to view.I seem to have had a busy few days and the house has suffered.
I also want to go up in the loft to see what suitcases/bags we have suitable for DS2s week in Tenerife, and our French city break next week :j.We are only taking hand luggage,so I need to find my skincare samples etc that I've been collecting. We got DS passport at the Liverpool regional office, made the 10 o clock appt by the skin of our teeth- I was navigating, and we got lost in the city centre
.He was getting very stressed, and we decided to park up and walk with 1/4 hr to go,following directions on his mobile. He ended up running the last bit,we were ok by then as there were street signs,so I brought up the rear, looking rather flushed. We had 4 hours to kill then before we could collect it,so looked round the shops, and the new Liverpool One centre, got some holiday bits, had lunch, then back to collect & home.
I want to slice and freeze the lemon drizzle I made yesterday, before I eat it all
Redruby-hugs to DD.I did the Access to Social Care that Celyn mentioned, and found it very good.I wanted to get on a Nursery Nursing course, but others wanted to get into SW-I liked the fact it was relevant to what I wanted to do ( though I was a mature student).DS1 took a similar kind of route -GNVQs rather than A levels,he still got his degree in the end,and had 2 years extra experience in his field
. I don't think A levels are right for everyone.
Nice to see you post PP-hugs to you and yours.x
Mioliere- enjoy your trip back to England.Safe journey x
Ladygrim-of course we missed you, pleased to see you back.Hope the phone calls go ok.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
redruby your daughter is doing the right thing, traditional A levels aren't the best route for a lot of careers. A lot of people think it is and I don't think they even know why they think that! So many of the people I went to college with took an assortment of random A levels and courses and ended up switching after the first year, doing a completely random degree or getting a job/training that didn't even need A levels.
Good luck to everyone whose kids are back at school/college today. I know a few people starting at my old college today and I am so jealous! College is so much fun, even more than uni because you're so care free and naive
I'm off on holiday wednesday(4:30am train to gatwick ugh) so got up early-ish to write down all the details and start packing while BF is still in bed. Without me waking him up he'll probably stay there until midday...
The split pea soup I made with the stock from yesterday's chicken casserole has gone all jelly like in the fridge! I'm guessing there's a fair bit of fat in that, but fat adds flavour

Hope your 'Percy is o.k. I thought I was the only daft lady to name their car's .over the past few years
I have had a 'Jezabel' fast racy and red,
a 'Norman' bit of a plodder and garden green and very economical
a 'Fifi' a french Citroen with a whole lot of zip in it
at the moment I have 'Bertie' because its RAF blue and rather stately.Isn't it daft how we get attached to our cars and they almost become old friends.:):):)
Washing is all dry and indoors now I'm hoping to get it all ironed and put away after lunch.I have got some lovely smoked haddock out of the freezer for dinner tonight which I will have with new potato's and garden peas.
lunch will be beans on toast as I have half a tin in the fridge left over from the weekend to use up,I might put a bit of grated cheese on top as well. Weather clouding up as I look out of the window.
Have a pleasant afternoon everyone0 -
Afternoon everybody,
Well have been up since sparrow f*rt o'clock as is DS's first full day back at school and I was anticipating problems, but he was a good lad and no bother at all :j. Made chicken stock and now DD1 wants chicken stew for dinner, hard luck! it says cottage pie on MP
but I will make a stew for tomorrow as I think it always tastes better for standing. Have washed and dried our bedding and will be remaking v soon, have done bathroom and kitchen and apart from a "pressing" :rotfl:amount of ironing things are pretty much up to date. Oh forgot I lost all my tomato plants to blight at the weekend
so need to sort out all the green ones I saved and find somewhere to try and ripen them off. Right am setting myself a hhc to try and get everything done so I can sit down at 1o'clock and watch Dalziel and Pascoe on Alibi.
Hope everyone has a good day, (((hugs)) and best wishes to all.

Well done to all the little ones starting new schools today - whats the betting they come home with part of their unifrom missing?? Hope you labelled EVERLYTHING mums and dads LOL
I bought and paid for the labels but my mum sewed them in for me
Sorry I just can't be doing with sewing - I am useless with it.
It's DS's first full day at school. He went in OK so I hope he's having a good day
I had loads of plans for this morning and haven't done any of it. Had to pop to outskirts of Brum to Dunelm to try and get some black fabric to make a full circle skirt for my tap show. They didn't have anything suitable and so was a waste of time. My mum came with me and then she wanted to go to Mr S afterwards so ended up taking her. Got a couple of hours before school run starts again so had better get a move on.
DS had yet another nose bleed last night  In his sleep no less!!! He woke at 2.30am and I he was sniffing which was unlike him - put the light on and he was covered in blood, all over his duvet and pillow. Cue me stripping bed, re-making it, bathroom trip to clean up DS and scrubbing his duvet and putting covers in cold water to soak. And then he wouldn't go back off to sleep until 4.30am - boy am I tired today...........................
It's the 17th Anniversary of H's mum passing away. We met 2 weeks after she'd died so sadly I never had the priviledge of meeting her. Bought her some nice flowers from Sainsbury's so he will go and put them down tonight.
Not sure what's for tea tonight, might have a rummage in the freezer.
Sorry not a lot of OS in todays post, need to make another sponge cake and some more biccies but that probably won't be today now
Redruby - I've got A Levels - English Lit, History and Economics. what can I say fat lot of good they've done me :rotfl: Although if you want someone to explain the price elasticity of demand I am your girl
If she's researched the best way to train she should go for it.
Ladygrim and Pen-pin - nice to see you posting.
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good Monday OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

:D
Ok now I have really c****d up this morning
, did the last bits in the spare room, iron and hung the curtains, put blinds up, scrubbed all the bits of paint off the floor, then I decided to try and assemble the bed myself _pale__pale__pale_, not only have I chipped the new skirting twice, but I have marked the new wallpaper about 5 times with the black iron bed head, and to make it even worse, I rubbed at the marks with a baby wipe and have rubbed a hole in the paper, weeks of work ruined, I had to phone OH and confess
, bless him he was so good, told me to put my feet up and leave it till he got home, but I think we may have to have 4 new bits of paper put up:o, I am so cross with myself , trouble is I think I am super woman and can do everything on my own, when clearly I am not, I wanted to get it all done and looking nice for when OH got home, and now it looks awful
, still live and learn eh ??
Jaxx, it said on gardeners world the other night, to ripen green toms, put them in a garden propagator (sp) somewhere light with a really ripe banana, should ripen then up really well.
Jellybaby and Jackie O my car is called 'Fat Louis'
