Morning all
Sunny and bright here at the moment. Reasonably productive weekend, OH worked Sat morn and we were supposed to be going out for dinner and then staying in a hotel as it was OH's birthday Friday and our 18th wedding anniversary yesterday - but OH had a "strop" as boys started back at rugby training yesterday and we needed to visit mum in hospital Sat evening before dinner so he felt we would rushing around and not enjoying the meal and hotel - so told me to cancel it. As you can imagine I wasn't very happy - but then if he was going to be a miserable git - I didn't really want to be stuck in a hotel away from home with him anyway! Really gave him a hard time and made him work hard to make it up to me on Sat evening and Sunday morning - he's just about done enough to apologise!?!?! So Sat evening we bought a dine for £9 deal - they're great for a treat when you don't want to cook a meal from scratch.
Anyway enough of my moaning, mum still in hospital but getting better slowly - hopefully recovery won't take as long as last time - fingers crossed. Boys went to rugby practice yesterday morning, OH prepped veg and put chicken in oven whilst I was out so just needed to cook veg when we got back - we went to take some kit to caravan and saw our friends whilst we were there and so went to their house for coffee and then visited some other friends who we haven't seen for several weeks as we were on holiday and they went just as we came back and then we've been away again since then. Have kept up with most jobs over the weekend and made biscuits and a banana and honey loaf for sweet treats in lunchboxes this week. Have menu planned tonight we are having gammon, egg, pots and veg.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning All,
Good luck to all the returners and starters today!! Big hugs to Mr and Mrs jc hope today goes well
Glad to see you back Souk, I will text you my number when I find my phone;) Hugs too for the Pen-Pin family. Good luck for the journey tomorrow Kathy. Redruby, I studied Social Work at Uni. It was a hard course, and when I qualified I didn't last too long, I found it all a bit too much, but I've been thinking about going back to it for a wee while now, if I can be any help to DD just give me a shout.
DS1 has wakened with an horrendous cold this morning, he's been sniffly all weekend and I thought it was possibly an allergy, but no, so I am giving him another half hour before I decide if he's fit for school.
Sausage rolls and pancakes for lunch/snack today for them, OH is at home this morning but hopefully he'll go back to bed for a nap and I can get some things done, still trying to get all these boxes of paperwork sorted, although he's managed to get me a filing cabinet which is bigger than the one I had so hopefully I'll get rid of it all into that.
Hugs to anyone else in need, have great days.

Morning all

This was my cake - sorry it's such a naff shot, it's sitting on my desk at work!
Didn't do much over the weekend - managed to pick up a load of reduced meat so made beef stirfry for OH last night and sliced and portioned up the rest of it for the freezer compartment. Need to go into town to pick up a tent later on and see if I can find a good pair of hiking boots. Planned a route for the holiday last night, which was fun - I am so excited
Dinner tonight will be beef stew for OH, probably more mushrooms for me
Have a box of random russalas on my table at home - I know they aren't toxic, but what they are exactly is still defeating us
Redruby - I think there is perception amongst people that A-levels are the only way into FE, when realistically there are often many routes into a chosen career path. Having sat in on "access to social work" type courses before as a facilitator, I'd suggest that the skills that taught on these courses are very relevant to the final job. I'm sorry that they made her feel sad - your DD obviously has her heart set on her chosen career, so there is a lot to be said for starting early on a more specific route. It shows a lot of maturity to have made this decision so young. A lot of students I come across take A-levels in subjects they were good at as they don't know what they want to do and have no vocation in mind, they are certainly not the best route into a lot of disciplines; especially the more practical ones. I have seen many university applications with totally random subjects. This isn't always a bad thing, but I'd rather see someone with a long-standing passion than someone with no path in mind.
Have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Good Morning All.
Physio and Dr's for me today which I don't mind as my physio and GP are lovely
.
I don't think the weather has made up it's mind yet. Hopefully will put the WM on later but will put washing on airer as can't reach the washing line properly due to my whiplash and extreme shortness, :rotfl:
Wormed the doggies last night which zonked them out, so that's another job ticked off my list. The stuff costs a forutune put it's a liquid you put on their coat and does fleas plus all types of worm (including heart worm) so I guess may work out cheaper, plus I don't have the hassle of trying to get them to take a tablet.
I think I am going to find out today whether or not my card is going to be written off. Fingers crossed it won't be as I love my Percy:A.
Cuddles to all those in pain x x x xHmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!0 -

Hello all, did you miss me??? please, someone say yes ;-)
Its pouring it down here today, shame really beacause a couple of old friends are visiting Cornwall for the week. Wouldve been great if we had the sunny weather from last week. At least theyre in a caravan and not a tent.
Im trying to lose some weight and since 1st August ive managed to lose 12 lbs. Fingers crossed I get below 19st next Monday.
Will try to do some housework today, but have a couple of important phonecalls to make this morning which may (or may not) upset me. Will try not to spend anything today, so am trying to eat out of fridge/freezer/store cupboard and keep within 400 calories per meal.
Well done to all the little ones starting new schools today - whats the betting they come home with part of their unifrom missing?? Hope you labelled EVERLYTHING mums and dads LOL
Well, kettle is calling. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Smile, it makes people nervous.
Take care

Morning all.
One slightly (well ok extremely) hyper Wolf here, as I'm glugging coffee by the gallon in order to remain awake all day, to see to the woofers whenever they need letting out. To be fair to them, they're fairly elderly, and Cameron drinks loads of water (presumably due to his diabetes??) so they need to pee frequently.
She's done her research, and so knows what's required to achieve her ambition; maybe A levels would have been the way to go in the past, but probably things have changed. I don't know, cos I left school at 16. Anyways, the point is, she's on the ball with this - just think how good it'll be when she can say to them "See? I did make the correct choice".I am so proud of my dd, she wants to be a social worker, and has worked out which exams she need to do to get on the college course she needs, and this will allow her to apply to uni to do a social work degree, she went to dinner with my sister and mum yesterday and they spent the whole time telling her she was doing it wrong and that she should do A' levels instead, dd came home in tears , not one word of encouragement from any of them, makes me so mad.
Awww, bless - Cameron's medication zonks him out too; but you have to do the right thing for them. Really, he's so good about having his insulin - Mr LW gives it to him, and gives him his grub, while I lure Candy over to the other side of the kitchen for her food. It has to be carefully orchestrated, as they have different food (Candy's a little porker, so she's on a "light" diet).jellybaby21 wrote: »Wormed the doggies last night which zonked them out, so that's another job ticked off my list. PenPin hey, it's lovely to see you posting; sorry to hear that you and yours are having so many health troubles still. Hel's teeth, FOUR hossy appointments?? I'm absolutely bricking it about having just ONE!
Butterfly Brain ham egg and mushrooms for brekkie eh? I wish I could face food first thing; it's all I can do to force down a tiny dish of bran flakes.
ETA:Ladygrim welcome back; you posted while I was typing. Posi-vibes for those important phone calls - I hope they don't turn out to be upsetting. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
