T and I are snotmonsters today :( Hope it's the end of our colds and not the start of a new one!

MFD - not sure if its too long for B but the book by the gruffalo auther and illustrator are good, we have nice chunky ones BOGOF in tesco
    The Gruffalo
    Room on the Broom
    The Smartest Giant in Town
    The Snail and the whale

    they all rhyme nicely

The Gruffalo is out ATM, too much fun! Will have a look for these though, thanks.

Goodnight Moon is my top choice - really think it's great :)
Dr Seuss (lots are too long but some are pretty easy readers and a bit less intense)
    Where The Wild Things Are
My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes
The Owl and the !!!!!cat ETA sigh... you can guess what the word is... it's political correctness gone mad here at MSE! :p

are a quick selection of favourites here. Also Buster's Day and Dear Zoo, which have flaps and are therefore a bit active maybe, but Buster's Day ends with him going to sleep in his bed so that's always good.

Dear Zoo is a big shouty book in MFD towers :o Lots of our books have actions or involve various noises and words.

Will have a look at your others though :D

Hope your furniture arrives when you are ready for it.

    Happy Birthday Krystal. xx

Can anyone recommend any nicely rhyming childrens books for bedtime?

L's absolute favorite for years was Mr Spottys Potty.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-Spottys-Potty-Leapfrog-Rhyme-Time/dp/0749638311
She could [STRIKE]read [/STRIKE]recite it well before she could read. Then when she could understand the story, it was the funniest thing ever.
(I could still tell you the whole story from memory!)
Charlotte, Alice and E should be at the age where they'll find it funny now.

Also she liked the Daisy books "If i was boss", "You do!", "Yuk", "Really Really" and "Eat your peas". Although it's a girl, Daisy, they're not girly storys.

GISI, if you're around can I pick your brain? What do you with lentils to give them to Henry? I'm afraid I am still a lentil novice so my creative juices don't know how to make them interesting/baby-friendly!

Janet and Allan Ahlberg do lovely rhyming books- my favourite of all time is cops and robbers although that would possibly be too long for 18 months.

Oh my Gosh... what a bobbins night! Of course, second night in a row where A decides to wake for one feed instead of the usual 2/3 so I wake at 2am in a panic and check on her. Then cant go back to sleep due to having a massive stress about weaning?!!!! God knows why?! lol Then A wakes up at 3:30am for her feed which lasted about 20 mins but wouldnt wind for at least half an hour! By that point she was awake so had to settle her again. Everything was fine until she kept spitting her bloody dummy out! Until 5:30am. Then I just pulled her in with us.
Of course, DH slept through the whole thing! :o:) And the dummy spitting is because shes due the next size up but she wont accept it so the one she has got comes out of her mouth very easily now as its getting a bit small.
Happy birthday Krystal! And :T for Aless!

Peepo is the best baby book ever! Henry has my copy from when I was little.

    :T Finn!

Hugs to you Michelle. It's horrible when you can't sleep for things whizzing round your head.

 at running out of loo roll, Becles. I think that is my OH's worst nightmare :rotfl:.

    Morning all.

Woke up this morning and Roxy was already in my bed, don't know how that happened.

Got to take Dino for a walk later but the weather is rubbish.
Proud mum to now-grown-up daughter (Pebbles) and two lovely grandchildren (Roxy & Chip).

    How time flies :)

Lentil loaf is always good- I don't use a recipe though, just cook red lentils until you have a thick paste then add an egg, some breadcrumbs and whatever flavouring you fancy. Curry paste/powder works well, but so does tomato paste and a big handful of grated cheese. Then just tip the mixture into a loaf tin, bake for half an hour or so, then I tip it out onto a baking sheet and bake for a further 20 minutes or so to firm it up.

Curried red lentils make a good dip, and I do creamy red lentils with onion, courgette and cream cheese stirred. Both make good soups for grown ups too- I just spoon some out for Henry then add stock to thin it down to make soup.

I think you already do lentil pate? It's nice with some dried apricot and curry spices added before the blitzing stage too.

I also use lentils in place of mince- so things like moussaka, lasagne, bolognese etc. Does that help at all?

I blame all you PT'ers for setting such a bad example to David :D

Aless :T Be positive. D has now worked out how to sleep through the night and hasn't had a feed for a week now :j.

Krystal - Happy Birthday! Did you get to eat your birthday cake in bed?

Thanks! I made some soup last night that has lentils in it, but made farrrrr too many lentils so needed ideas on how to give them to Finn. May try the loaf, wonder if it'd be okay with green lentils? Failing that, may just serve them warm on toast with melted cheese :p.

(extra delicious soup, if you're wondering. :rotfl: Spinach, lentil & coriander.)
