Tia the one i am going to see is actually on her own livery, her daughter has outgrown him and she isnt ready to sell him yet although there will be the opportunity in a year or so! Everything is included she is only looking for the donation to make sure he is looked after and we are serious. I think she doesnt want him to go to waste and would rather have someone to love him and have fun with him.

Also as she is an instructor it means she will be able to teach Abi now and again :) Megan and i can already ride which helps! am very excited but not telling the kids until i see him and have a look around etc, we get free use of the paddocks and teaching area, im sure she said theres a jumping area but that wont be for a while! it will give us the chance to have the responsibility for a while without the major costs, that way i can find out if its something they really want and not just a phase! thanks for the advice its very appriciated.

Bruno that video is soooooo cute :D

Thanks all :D it's not full-on reading, definitely. It's mostly or entirely remembered, but he definitely recognises individual words he's seen often. It's just remembering that that word-shape means that word sound, iyswim. He knows all his letters and the sounds they make, but he is amazed and confused by the way they form words with different sounds, etc.

Living situation is middling, thanks SS :p family friend guest leaves tomorrow morning :D and bloody futon and bed arrive tomorrow morning, tcho.

    'Night all!

    Awesome caz. :D

So Tuesday? Where did we decide?
  • I can't wait until Benjamin is as cute as E Bruno :D

Can anyone recommend any nicely rhyming childrens books for bedtime?

For the last 3 nights I have read a book called 'Down on the Farm' which Benjamin got as a gift from his pre-school at Easter (I can't find a link but it is a beautiful book, I will find it and post it at some point).

We are both really enjoying Down on the Farm because is has a lovely pace and a rhythm and rhyme to it that makes it flow.

We have lots of the classics, bear hunt etc but I think they are more about active reading rather than bedtime reading if that makes any sense...

So - what do you recommend to read to a 19 month old at bedtime?

we had some phonics reading books which obviously jack wasn't reading but they had a quite nice sing song style and he could figure out the last word of sentences iyswim

they're usborne and called things like, ted needs a bed, toad digs a road, goose on the loose etc

    found them

    They sound interesting.

I was thinking maybe Guess How Much I Love You too - although that can be a bit 'excitable' with all the jumping!!

Maybe I will just read Down On The Farm forever, like I only sing Twinkle Twinkle at bedtime LOL!

    Must....go...to....bed....

MFD - not sure if its too long for B but the book by the gruffalo auther and illustrator are good, we have nice chunky ones BOGOF in tesco
    The Gruffalo
    Room on the Broom
    The Smartest Giant in Town
    The Snail and the whale

    they all rhyme nicely
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Goodnight Moon is my top choice - really think it's great :)
Dr Seuss (lots are too long but some are pretty easy readers and a bit less intense)
    Where The Wild Things Are
My Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes
The Owl and the !!!!!cat ETA sigh... you can guess what the word is... it's political correctness gone mad here at MSE! :p

are a quick selection of favourites here. Also Buster's Day and Dear Zoo, which have flaps and are therefore a bit active maybe, but Buster's Day ends with him going to sleep in his bed so that's always good.

I am fully up because furniture theoretically may come 7-12 today, and if it comes now we are so screwed, what with no room in the hallway to manoeuvre a bed through, no room in the house currently with space to put it while dismantling the old bed.... so while everyone else sleeps I am tip-toeing down the hall past 3 bedroom doors removing a few hall items each trip, in the dark.
