I don't think they've given that much detail but if they're not just basing it on the claimant then it's going to add to the complexity of assessment and would mean there's no sense to basing it on whether one person being over the 40% threshold as they would have details of both incomes. Now this is the question I want answered, are they saying if anyone in the household earns £44k or just the person claiming?Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I tried a few things and managed to get it out with Ariel stain remover.
I meant to post about that! It's a new product in a navy blue bottle and it's fantastic for getting all sorts of food, grass and mud stains out. You can either pour it direct on the stain before washing, or it comes with a dispenser that you can put in with the washing if everything is generally grubby. It was expensive but it's worth it if you have children as filthy as mine
I saw this the other day and wondered if it was any good. think I'll look out for a promo to try it...

:rotfl:I really don't feel (well I wouldn't, would I...) that the tax/benefits difference between two median earners and one high-earner plus 1 SAHParent needs to be further swung towards the two median earners
Curse you, child benefit changes!
*rant alert*
This really pi$$es me off (excuse the language:o) We can't make any use of my tax allowance (bar an ISA) and I'm constantly feeling the pressure of being told by the government etc to get a job. I have a job, I am raising, educating and attending to my childs needs. We are lucky that DH earns enough to allow me to do this, but why must be be taxed to the hilt for the priviledge (sp?)? We pay higher tax rate, pay tax (not all are tax free) when making pension contributions, pay tax on our savings, pay tax on just about everything. And when we die Annabel will be taxed on it all again:mad::mad::mad::mad: Worse still we are the ones that pay into the system and get nothing back from it. Now in scotland they want to change the council tax to be linked to earnings rather than location - just another way to slam us for wanting to work hard and reach our career potential. ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*rant over* PS not wanting to start a debate, just had to let that out!
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

R-mac - I think I saw the Ariel stain remover thingy on offer in Adsa at the weekend (during my big night out;))

no security, I'm not sure if anything exists tbh I never use my iphone for anything remotely financial tho. Hubby installed the paypal app and I made him delete itI know what I was gonna ask, iphone people, do you have security on your iphone for using the web? Someone got my CC details on Saturday and tried to spend £535. Great news is Natwest thought it odd and rejected it.
We both claim CB so we both benefit from the NI credits:cool:I presume the looking at individual income is for practical reasons because of those examples you have just mentioned.
Although wouldn't couples with a SAHParent have CB in the SAHP's name anyway in order to benefit from the NI credits?
I have no idea what you all are talking about tho, just waiting for the news to come on in an hour.
Bad times here, Chris threw up at 1:30am and then took over an hour and a half to be cleaned up and back to sleep, I couldn't sleep until I knew he was sleeping so ended up breaking my neck laying with him until finally getting to sleep in my own bed at some hideous hour of the morning, on the bright side Edgar didn't wake for his usual feeds from 5am onwards, just woke at 8:30 and went straight back to sleep, at which point Chris came in for a cuddle! Chris woke me again at 9am ish to wipe his bum so after that we snuggled up in bed for a bit before dragging ourselves up *yawn*0 -
The thing I find even more than the system is that I get tax funded leaflets put through my door telling me that if you are staying at home looking after your children then you are "doing nothing". I don't see why it's only considered a job and worthwhile if you are being paid to look after other people's children and not if you look after your own.*rant alert*

R.mac - I don't blame you for being annoyed. This latest change makes no sense to me! When I heard them talking earlier about changes to child benefit, I was prepared that we would almost certainly lose our benefit. While it was aggravating, it wasn't life-changing as both my husband and I are on ok salaries. I couldn't believe it - and I don't think it's right - when I learnt that we would still receive it, but a family whose whole income happens to be less than our joint income, but has a stay at home parent, would lose it. This just doesn't make sense. I would much prefer that I lose my child benefit, and they look at general childcare costs for families where both parents work (I'll be paying £185 per week for F when I return in January).
Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Yes Rmac. How dare you DH work hard through education like mine. Put himself through University, work all hours godsend to work his way up. Save, be careful, put money in a pension and leave something for his daughter. And then to expect something back in return for the huge amounts of tax he pays on everything but the air he breathes. No he's expected to give it away so Joe Bloggs down the road can go out to work cash in hand and claim everything under the sun and have another child knowing that their benefits will increase when it's born so they don't have to work out if they can afford it 'cos we will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Too many children, too little time!!!

I know but that house was SO perfect. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO perfect. After my mam spoke to the woman on Friday she said it was mine so i told DS and he's gonna be heartbroken. If she hadn't said that i wasn't gonna tell him. Well my mother nagged me into telling him.:mad::mad::mad:
None of the houses they own are anywhere near as good as that one. The rest are too surrounded by chavs
Awww beanie - hugs sweetie x
But, I reckon whats for you won't go past you and that there is a good reason you didn't get the house. there must be a bigger, better located one coming your way
positive thinking ma'dear. In lots of other countries the tax allowance is shared by the parents (such that say one parent earning 40k would be taxed the same as two earning 20k each). I think it is much better but unfortunately in this country you can't do that unless you are self employed.
so theoretically, if DH has his own business we could split his income for tax purposes? I knew that we could do things with diviends as shareholders and salary as employee, but not sure how this works - have you a link you could send me? *DH considering this in the not too distant future so may swing it for us!*Now this is the question I want answered, are they saying if anyone in the household earns £44k or just the person claiming?
Now that is an interesting question. Right enough money talk!
SB - Happy birthday!
MFD - how is working form home going?
Becles - hope the fat lip is better today. Poor Charlotte.
We ar ehaving sleep issues again. I think its a delayed reaction to us having been away. I'm hoping that a week of 'normality' and firm bedtime routine will get us back on track.
My friend had her baby yesterday!!! Its so exciting. Though she has chosen a name I haven't seen/heard before so hoping they'll say it before I have to make an attempt. :rotfl: I was a little surprised as I really had them pegged as slightly more traditional, but then thats me making my assumptions again :rotfl:
