I thought it was a LOT more than that tbh. The bill is always a lot more but I forget that I usually end up picking up all sort of crap when I get caught up in the madness.

Yes, having given it some further thought there are other things I only buy at Christmas that kind of bump it up (pickles, crackers, animal biscuits, pop) but they are not (just) Xmas day so didn't include them

It expired, Susan, and they're expensive to replace. I probably should get one.
    I think you should.

I have little mini whoopsie'd cakes from the co op.

Seem to be getting a varied opinion, someone came up to me earlier and said I looked good and had lost weight ( I can stand up long enough to cook for the kids then I'm pooped and have to lie down lol so except when OH was here I haven't eaten a cooked dinner since we've been home  )

And someone else came up to me and went 'Oh you look terrible, so tired and pale, but what a beautiful baby!' I didn't know what to say :rotfl:

OH goes mad at Christmas bless him. He wants that many bird roast thing from Aldi. They become like gold dust from November! I might see if he will do me lamb :D I don't splash out on it often as it's so expensive but Christmas is only once a year right :rotfl:

Oh and OH starts buying the junk food in October usually! I'm on a diet this year :rotfl:

ETA: Owing to some very bad experiences (mum's ex boyf vomiting in the kitchen sink for a start, and mush worse ) all my Christmases are alcohol free. I don't mind if OH has a couple on Christmas eve but woe betide anyone who gets smashed or turns up in that state. Many a family occasion was ruined by alcohol when I was growing up lol

Hello Becky, I'm glad it seems to be getting a bit easier for you. Did you sleep in your 3hr window? I'm so relieved that we no longer have escaping poops to deal with, the main problem now is wrestling her onto the changing table and keeping her there and occupied with her fingers out of her poop.

Weezl, I have just acquired a Panasonic Lumix, it was €220 second hand and does DSLR quality images for about half the weight of the Nikon. Husband has a Canon Something Awesome and it's just too big for me.

I thought I would answer your 'christmas day spends' question too.

For breakfast we have a continental, so croissants, petite pain, brioche, yoghurt, ham, cheese, rolls and pure orange. Usually spend about £15 on all this

Then dinner...I get gammon, beef and chicken....althought this then does the lunches and buffet on boxing day too (at least) then the usual suspects potatoes, veg, yorkies, pigs in blankets and stuffing...this costs about £25. I tend to find the gammon and beef are always on offer in somerfield on the run up to christmas so get it quite cheap, plus chickens are only 2 for £6 in Asda anyway. Oh and we have chocolate log or similar for dessert....

We don't really drink much but will buy a bottle of vodka, cointrou and malibu, although we usually still have these halfway through the year....I am having a glass of malibu and coke now, from the bottle we bought at christmas:)

Oh and I don't tend to buy any snack stuff for christmas day as the kids get loads of chocolate/sweets and I have a no limit to amount they can eat on christmas day...after that whatevers left gets rationed a bit....

Hope all those ramblings are of some use to you:D

Pre-kids we spent every christmas day at my mums. Once the kids came along we started staying at home, I also wouldn't want to drag the kids away from their new toys...we tend to do the visiting on christmas eve and boxing day...or have people over to us.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • i think its either getting easier or i've finally realised i'm not doing anything wrong and just need to go with the flow and trust my instincts and my body to do whats right for her. Which is just about all down to you guys as was having a major melt down yesterday evening but seemed to have calmed myself over last night and today!

    :kisses3:thank you!

    Your welcome
Can I ask you a question?

Can I change some of the ingrediants? for example on the spanish omlette you use oil to cook stuff, can I use fry light instead?

I am really amazed by your site, I think its totally genius and I plan on using it to save money, we spend far too much money on food and most of it crap!

Might alternate each month between the two options

Give him a job to do Tia, Husband will often not do anything because he sees me rushing around and assumes I have it under control, so I'm cursing him and he's thinking I'm amazing cause I've got it all covered.
