Thanks Bexta Smartie and Tia

T is currently asleep... on a bean bag. Nevermind these fancy bouncers and swings... he is quite happy on a bean bag LOL. I dont wana speak too soon but we've actually had some good nights, think the combination using infacol, gripe water, anti colic bottles and a 'kinda' routine is helping. He still likes to stay up late, but we managed to get him asleep and in bed at 11pm last night, just need to try for 10pm and that'll be perfect with OH working.
Can anyone suggest any type of routine/ way of entertaining a 5 week old? I dont want any type of strict routine, but I would like to work to something so both of us know what we are doing.
Also anyone got any idea where I can get an embroidered personalised xmas stocking for T? Mothercare have some lovely ones for £15 but I would like to pay a lot less really! I just thought it would make a nice decoration, and be able to hold his few presents... it would look so cute hung off his cot.. if he is in it by then! LOL0 -
Kitkat, at 5 weeks I'm not sure how much entertaining they can manage - Molly would feed, then be awake for about 40 minutes, then sleep for two hours, then wake and feed for 20-30 minutes then sleep for two hours and so on.
Maybe you could sing to him or dance around, or play with toys with interesting colours and textures?
I also think you can get the embroidered stockings on ebay.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Thanks SS, Theo is awake a lot actually. He tends to have a morning nap, then awake for hours, then an evening nap and again awake for a few hours. The other day he woke 11am and was awake until 6pm! Today he seems to be sleeping a bit more than usual but I imagine when he wakes will be awake for quite a while!0

I think the suitability of the book versus the film is very different - with a book there is the limitation of your imagination whereas in a film you are exposed to things at a greater intensity than you would have imagined. (But I have a friend who was traumatised by watching a cartoon of Animal Farm at Primary School so that has influenced my view.)The film is based on a book and it completely takes away the whole idea behind it- Im guessing Josh may have read the book first in class? The book is extremely clever, it has no blurb at all and the only indication of the fact that it is about the awful events of WW II are the blue and white stripes that go around the cover. I have read this with year 8.
However, only those with knowledge of the war would make the connection with the clothes worn by Jewish people in the death camps- very few children would. The book is written entirely from the point of view of a child and he has absolutely no idea about the cruel actions that are going on around him or what his father does. This is why it doesnt work in the film because WE, the audience can clearly see the setting. However, in the book, all the bot knows is that his father is moving to a place called Out-With ( Auschwitz). When they get there, he has no friends at all and sees people outside his window in pyjamas- he even thinks theyre lucky to be able to dress so comfortably all the time. He makes friends with another boy who lives behind a fence, they even share the same bday. Their relationship and this story are an introduction for younger ones into the history of the holocaust. It is also interesting to read with a class as I get to teach them about the past as well as discussing the moral implications of the novel (as some students still dont quite make the connection between the holocaust and the book, they just take it for what it is).
It really annoys me when books are transformed innacurately for film.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Animal Farm at primary school Susan? It was bad enough watching it when I was 14, but then I was a wimp

He said one minute it was all cute fluffy animals and then the next minute it was carnage and bloodshed. He refused to read anything by George Orwell (which is how it came up as I said he should read 1984). It wasn't in the UK though - he was living in a foreign country and it was an international school.ladybirdintheuk wrote: »Animal Farm at primary school Susan? I loved my Dyson for the first two months, then it was rubbish! So I replaced it with a Hetty which a year on, is still brilliant.
How are you feeling today Susan?
OOh, I dreamt of SS last night. Nothing interesting, she just wanted to borrow a black and white striped top to wear for a fancy dress party as a burglar!
We've had an average day of dropping and collecting children, quick trip to Asda and ironing. I've ordered indian takaway for me and the big ones for tea, hopefully the little one will be in bed before it comes.:beer:0
