Hi kazza, I have nothing to add but :( and :grouphug:. I think girls of that age can just be nasty and I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it. When I was 20 and my brother was ten he gave my mobile number to one of his classmates and she ended up making weird silent phone calls to me - being bullied by someone half your age is a very weird experience, but it petered out in the end. Can your daughter make some other friends either in school or out?

Hi Kazza. To be honest, I think it's just a girl thing. They're generally horrible. :(
My big DD is 9 almost 10, just started year 5, and I often can't keep up with who's friends with who this week. They've been like this for a couple of years.
It was worse when there were 5 close friends in their little group, so they'd always be two sets of best freinds and one left out. But my DD has distanced herself from this group, she says they're boring :p and has joined a group of girls who seem less nasty/!!!!!y.

Could you encourage your DD to make other friends in the class outside the group of horrid girls?

Thanks for that. To be honest, I've noticed it started in year 5. I feel so upset for her because she is so naive and would never be nasty to someone. If she joins another group, they they entice her back and say they are sorry. Then a few days later, they start all over again with the nastyness. It's as though they dont want to be friends with her and want her in their group so that they can bully her. They constantly leave her out. If I invite one of them to play, the rest think she is trying to steal the friend away.

I remember this at senior school but not at junior. She is now on the phone to child line as she finds this helps.

I suppose we have just got to get through year 6 and see what senior school brings. There will be 100 new pupils from all over the area and so at least she can make friends with some other girls.

Funny enough, this group of girls all have mobiles and they are texting each other with not very nice comments. This is the reason why I dont want my daughter to have one as they can get to her 24 hours a day. They are now teasing her because she hasnt got her own phone but I suspect it's because they want to send horrible messages.

Aw Kazza bless her - it must be horrible. I also remember girly nastyness, but as you say, it was in senior school. Does she have any friends out of school from other clubs/interests? My DD has some nice friends at gymnastics from different junior schools to ours. There is every chance some of these will end up in the same senior school so she'll already have some friends when she gets there.

One horrible thing our group did, was one girl (not from the group) was having a sleepover party and invited 4 of the 5 in the group. My DD was stressing about it, and told me that the one who wasn't invited had told the invited 4 that they were to say they were going, but not turn up on the night, basically to ruin this poor girls party! My DD felt it was wrong and didn't want to do it, but didn't want to be kicked out of the group for going to the sleepover. :( This was early last year, thankfully my DD has realised what a bunch of horrors these girls are, and made new friends.

Just a quick one - i'm trying to do christmas shopping at Argos.

Was somebody looking for wooden alphabet letters yesterday? I can't remember who it was, or if LO was a girl or boy. Argos have these...http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3941805/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CToys+and+games%7C14417629/c_2/3%7C14417629%7CPre-school+toys%7C14417737/c_3/4%7Ccat_14417737%7CCharacter+toys+and+playsets%7C14417740.htm

'Twas me, but I got some yesterday, thanks!

I got two bars of choccy today too. I got dark chocolate and apricot and cashew which sounds lush!

Hugs to Beenie and girl flu. It is so miserable being ill when you have to supervise a little monster too.

Did anyone get one of the £1 Amazon vouchers in Martin's email I got one before work this morning- sometimes being up at 5:30am has its advantages!

Yes, we got two last night as the link was already live and posted on HotDeals (although I don't think it should have been!:o).

I posted a few days ago about their previous Vue cinema tickets for £1 offer.

I'm really loving all these kind of mass purchase sites and have had lots of fab deals :D.

    xx
  • Lots of hugs for you and your daughter, Kazza. How horrible :(.

Well (for obvious reasons) I unsubscribed. Then on Friday they sent me an e-mail saying, "You are nine weeks pregnant" so I unsubscribed again. And today they've sent me another e-mail.

That's awful Susan. I feel really cross with them for doing that
    I weighed and measured Keira this morning, she's 2stone 8 now and 3ft 5.

Charlotte is 3ft 3" and weighs 2st 5lb. She's 3 years and 4 months now. I noticed she's one of the taller ones in nursery though, and taller than a couple of the reception children!

I'd forgotten about that! I used to absolutely love that game and can remember playing it with my best friend in the sitting room of our old house. We moved from there when I was 6.
Not sure if I'm putting this in the right place, but here goes.

My 10 year old daughter quite often comes out of school in tears. Her so called friends spend a couple of days being nice and then we get a spell of nastyness.

My son had this with a girl in Year 6. From an outsiders point of view, she just seemed to like creating friction between different friendships groups, then standing back and watching them fight while she was the sympathetic one to both sides.

I ended up telling my son just to keep away from her, as we knew she was going to another secondary school so he'd never see her again. I did explain to him how her games were working and he stood back and realised what was going on. It's hard for a child to do that though.

Charlotte has a new job at nursery. Some children do 2½ days a week so they get a school dinner brought down to the classroom at 12 noon. They're usually just finishing off when we get there at 12.30pm for the afternoon sessions. She loves washing up all the dirty dinner plates, so they just give her a cloth and a tea towel and let her get on with it :D

As Josh was off he walked along with me to pick her up. The nursery teacher used to teach him and he's about 6" taller than her now. She said "ooooh you've grown a bit" :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

My DD is doing her homework. They're doing about the solar system in school, and Uranus is the funniest word of the day. :rotfl:
She's just said 'did you know that Uranus is a gas planet...well mine certainly is!' :o
