My Mum had a very bad similar experience with a baby after my little sister. Whited out for anyone who wishes not to read
 That's absolutely shocking and far worse than what happened to me. And must have been awful for the other people too.

I was quite lucky really that everything was very straight forward with no complications and no treatment required. From a physical point of view the only way it could have been easier would have been for it not to happen.

My dad is a amature mycologist, and goes off every weekend looking for mushrooms, then he comes home with his mushroom geek friends, and looks at them under microscopes and works out what they all are, and they eat the edible ones. They record everything they see, and report it to whoever it is that keeps records of these things and all sorts. I wouldn't trust myself to go out and pick them in the wild, but it is nice trying what he has picked. He doesn't share them with us very often though, sadly!
That sounds really cool - you should ask him to teach you.

susan I have read your letter and think it is really, really well written. Your suggestions are clear and helpful.

I'd like very much to make a suggestion. I hope that's ok. The NICE committes are still consulting over the guidelines on the treatment of women with bleeding/pain in early pregnancy.

Whilst each hospitals attention to letters like this might be a little bit hit and miss, the NICE committees are committed to receiving and implementing lay-person and patient feedback.

It just seemed to me that if your suggestions were included in the next guidance document, your letter would do even more to help even more women.

The lead on patient feedback for that document is given on the website as Sarah Chalmers and there is an email address.

  • One of my friends had to have a hystorectomy recently and had to go for a scan with all the pregnant ladies. She has a grown up son, and wasn't upset by it, but more cross that it was insensative iyswim... The NHS are rubbish really. I don't know if maybe because miscarridges are so common they loose sight of the fact that they aren't common to the person going through it, and it is still a big deal to them.

  • Go for it Gill - welcome a few newbies, say well done, what will you spend it on to a few winners and you are there. There are a few things worth replying to on the announcements board too. And sometimes you can find "I've won" posts in the specific bingo website bits, as well as on winners are grinners.

Thanks - that's a good idea. I actually checked the NICE guidance (because if they had any I would have referenced it in my letter) and found it was in the consultation stage but didn't think of giving suggestions to them.

I had awful treatment when I miscarried bop's twin. I was left in the A&E gushing blood everywhere (it was V heavy) and having excruiating stomach cramps. All I got was tuts for the mess. I got a scan a few hours later and they told me I must of had twins and miscarried one but it looked like it was done completely and wasn't that something to be grateful for

After thry messed me up after birth, they were DEAD helpful, I was admitted back to the maternity ward and given a private room, probably because they didnt want me telling everyone about how they rip your placenta from you, like tug o war

when my mum had a m/c in 1976 she was put on a ward with women who had all just had babies.

I'd hope things have changed since then, but Mums was in 1992. They apparently didn't have a spare private room for her.
