  • I found it massively funny that the water-birth womans Dad was emptying water from the pool while the Mum topped it up with hot water... A real family occasion in that house!!

Weezl, do you mean that you didn't get the immediate rush of love that people talk about? I didn't get that either...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

I thought the water birth was fab! mostly how calm the baby was (which scared my 2 friends who were watching it 'with' me :) they didn't know babies came out floppy and be quiet like that but healthy :))
it also made me want a pool next time, my dad will be on babysitting duty again tho!!!!

    thank you for saying that!

nope, not with either of them. Another mum at baby group told me that the absence of it with number 2 was what told her she had PND, compared to the 'immensely overwhelming rush of love' with number one.

My immediate thoughts were 'thank god that's over with, now I need a cup of tea!'. I thought that's what everyone thought. :D

Well that my good mood gone

Oh just text to say he has taken the afternoon off to help his friend with his truck, couldnt take the afternoon off to take me and E out could he
:grouphug: Although he's much better at talking to me before he agrees to do stuff now, my OH did used to agree to all sorts of inconvenient things for the benefit of other people when Alice was younger. In our case I think the reasons were a) he didn't realise/appreciate the impact that things would have on me/Alice and b) he views us to some extent as part of him so to him it's a collective "us" putting others before ourselves rather than him putting others before me and Alice IYSWIM? I found talking about why I was upset, what the impact had been on us had been and alternatives which could have enabled him to help someone without being so inconvenient have made a huge difference.

SS, possibly, though you may want to slap 'career mum' :rotfl:

    Tara and Redstar:

    4 tbsp olive oil
    1 onion, diced
    1 clove garlic, crushed/chopped finely
    25g butter
    250g risotto rice
    750ml chicken or veg stock
    400g tin chopped tomatoes
25g grated Parmesan, plus extra to serve
    Salt and pepper to taste
    2 handfuls of rocket leaves.

Heat 1 tbsp of oil in pan. Soften garlic and onion.

Cover base of s/c with rest of oil. Put onions, garlic, butter, rice, stock and tomatoes in s/c and mix well. Put lid on and cook on low for 2hrs, or until stock has been absorbed. Don't be tempted to stir or remove lid.

Stir in cheese, and season to taste. Fold in rocket and sprinkle with extra cheese.

Tbh, I've not made this version, but I've followed the basics using 'eyeballed' amounts of mushrooms, and also butternut squash. I also can't vouch it actually serves 4, but you may be less greedy hungry than OH and I:o

Many thanks Bexta!!! Can't wait to try it...

    You're welcome :)

I've never had an overwhelming rush of love, but I fell in love with my children...

With Aimee it took a long time really... A good 3 months or so before I could physically bring myself to say I loved her out loud... I think it's because I really couldn't picture myself as someone's Mum... I didn't bond with the baby growing inside me because I couldn't connect it with being my baby (if that makes sense) until she'd been here a while... Once I started loving her and feeling like her Mum rather than just being in charge of a baby, it all came a lot easier...

I fell in love with Caitlyn a lot quicker, I think because I was already someone's Mum it was easier to make the connection and feel all responsible for her... Although she was a pretty miserable baby so she didn't make it easy for me lol...
