Hi angelcake
What's your dog called? I have a springer spaniel and would love another but she's so hard work.
How did you come across the parents thread? Were you a lurker on the forums before you signed up? I remember when i first discovered the pregnancy thread when i was looking for baby related freebies, little did i know it would end up taking up so much of my life lol!!
one dog is enough for me.. :rotfl: she is called Kiara..0 -
Hi everyone - crossing over from the Pregnancy thread to ask a parenting question as I'm pregnant with our first.
We're looking at holidays for next year to use our Tesco vouchers, and I wondered what age would be best for this kind of holiday? It would be a drive from Manchester to Liverpool, a ferry from Liverpool to Dublin and then another hours drive, followed by a week in a cottage. Baby is due end January so what would be the best month? And is it better to have a longer drive than a longer ferry journey do you think?
We did think perhaps we could stop for a night in Dublin - would that be an idea to break up the journey? My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Hi Lilian.
We went from Holyhead to Dublin last summer when V was 6/7 months old. The boat trip was absolutely fine, apart from me being sea sick on the way home.
We actually live 20 minutes away from the Liverpool to Dublin ferry terminal, but found that route is a LOT more expensive (and longer) than the Holyhead one.
The longest part of the journey for us was home - Holyhead, it took us a couple of hours and we had to do regular stops for changing & feeding. Tbh, she slept for most of the car journey.
Would Manchester to Holyhead be a lot further for you than Manchester to Liverpool?:beer:0 -
Krystal I had to read your post twice to see whether it was you who threw up or Aimee!! Hope she is ok.
Elle that's just fab news about Rhys!! :j
Bruno hopefully the screaching will just be a short phase!angelcake71 wrote: »;) it was his idea in the first place, as the 6 are mine from my 1st marriage..

Probably not enough to make a difference so that's a great tip - thank you. We're thinking about going on 25th June so depending on when baby makes an appearance, he/she would be around 5 months old.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

We got quite excited when they opened the new terminal in Liverpool as we have family in Dublin. But the prices are a couple of hundred higher for some unknown reason!
TBH, I prefer to fly and you can get really cheap flights, but then you'd have to hire a car over there which would cancel out the saving.:beer:0 -

I used to live in Dublin, and the Liverpool-Dublin ferry is about three hours longer than the Holyhead one as well as being significantly less reliable and more expensive. It's a different kind of ferry so doesn't run if the weather is bad and if the sea's a bit choppy you feel it much more. I'd do the drive to Holyhead and take a lot of rest stops, tbh. Or fly and hire a car.
Also, I think probably June-July would be a good time. By four/five months you've hit a comfortable routine, the baby's no longer super teeny but s/he's also not at the stage where they want to be crawling about - they're still extremely portable and cuddly. Just my two cents
So my SIL, she who married my BIL on the beach over the summer, is having extreme baby fever. But BIL has been snipped - does anyone know what the story is with vasectomy reversal and having kids? She's 28 but he's 40 or 41, if it makes a difference?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Sorry SJ, I didn't realise I was being cryptic... Must have been the lack of sleep lol...
Sugar, I'm sure the length of time between snipping and reversal affects the effectiveness?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
