Buttons i think you should come anyway
All the weddings i worked on the cake was served after dessert and with coffee. The rest was plated up and put on the buffet table on the evening, and a tier taken home.
The first wedding i was toastmaster of, was a lesbian coupleHaving watched my superiors doing it while waitressing, i automatically went to say "please welcome your bride and groom" I saved myself though and said "happy couple" instead

Thanks everyone for your lovely welcomes:wave: Kitkat how is everything going? And welcome
Thanks Sugar, I think everythings going ok! Last week was a bit of a blur as I had spent 5 days in hospital and as soon as we both came out we seemed so bombarded with visitors. It was really nice of people to come over but very tiring!! He has been pretty good- a happy content little boy but we had a few problems last night with him crying lots and we could not work out why, he also decided he wanted feeds an hour earlier than normal and then at 5am would not go back to sleep! Otherwise we are taking each day as it comes! I suppose he is only 12 days old so things will be unsettled for a while!!!
Becky: Very cute photos! You must be very proud

Kitkat, those eyes! He's lovely!
When anyone visits, give them a task. My family came over five days after I had a C-section, and I found myself clutching a pillow to my belly, loading the washing machine and making them tea. My brother then brought a cup back into the kitchen for me to hand-deliver to my mother. It makes me so  to think of any other new mummy having to do that kind of crap, so don't let them do it to you!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

That is awful of your family, my family have been great, really helping and bringing me goodies (I am 'express' BFing and find I get so hungry!!) although my sister insists on waking Theo when she comes over which drives me mad, especially if he's just gone to sleep as we have to deal with a grumpy overtired baby when she leaves!!
OH's family seem to want to be waited on, but I just sit back and tell them 'you know where the kettle is' lol. I do feel lazy but I am busy with Theo, and although I am fortunate to not have a C section I did have a spinal which seems to have caused all sorts of problems with my back0 -

I always reckon on OH taking twice as long as I think it should take.
And using twice as many bowls and utensils than I think it should take.nope - I find that LO sleeps better is she goes to bed before she gets overtired..............I'm a founder member of the victorian mummy club though and LO is always in bed by 6.45pm - 7pm at the very latest
She went up at 6.45, and into bed and out like a light. We'll see.

Me to Susan. I would have booted them out of the front door
I put an open invitation on FB saying everyone was welcome to visit so long as they did the washing up and brought me cake. We only got a few visitors, but they all followed the rulesIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009
