MCO Capital loan

Hi Bridggar, just checked the list for Qangos to be abolished, merged etc and AF is not on it. There are only 8 people in the office, so it wouldn't make much difference anyway. The average size of a Qango is about 50. Don't be too hard on AF. They only collect info and pass it on. It is up to the enforcement agencies like NFIB to investigate and take action. If all AF manage to do is allocate CRN's to the likes of us, then they have at least helped a bit.0

If you dont believe this we can ask all those who received letters after contacting their CRA to send in posts.
There are posts from 2008 and 2009 from people who have taken loans out, and had the money from both these sites, some say they are struggling to repay them. It seems elaborate to have been planning this from as long ago as that.
Also of course they are passing on unpaid debt to an agency, why wouldn't they? My suggestion is that they manage contact with Experian bacause they "have" to, writing to offices where post builds up aint going to work.
If anyone has been chased since Experian removed the search you really should post.. and then contact Experian and make a complaint, by removing the search and loan account they have legally accepted liability0 -
Hi Geomacl, the first reference to MCO being criminal was from Action Fraud. They referred to this verbally, but in granting a CRN to you, they are in fact saying a crime has been committed. The crime (in my case) was a fraudulent letter from MCO. The view of AF was that even if MCO had been attacked by ID fraudsters, this was no excuse in sending out a fraudulent letter. MCO have therefore already committed crimes in the eyes of AF, and are under investigation by the police. A company that commits crimes is I guess a criminal company (or criminal outfit I may have called them). If AF decided this was no longer the case, the CRN's would probably be cancelled and I think AF would also have to inform us all of this.0

""MCO is working closely with City of London Police as part of this ongoing investigation.
At this time, the police request that individuals who have received notification of a loan taken out in their name with MCO that they have not signed up for, contact MCO directly to register the false loan.
This will result in any enforcement action to reclaim the loan to be halted whilst police enquiries continue.
You no longer need to report false loans related to MCO through to Action Fraud.
If you have already reported to Action Fraud, you do not need to contact MCO. The police will ensure MCO is aware of your false loan report.
The police would like to reassure anyone who has made a crime report that no financial details will be shared with the company in this process.
The address people affected should write to is: Intrum Justitia Ltd, 5th Floor, The Plaza, 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L3 9QJ.
Please confirm in the letter your name and adress and that you did not take out the loan. No other information is required.
It may also be advisable to conduct a credit reference search as well to ascertain if any fraudulent applications have been made. We would suggest contacting the two main agencies who are Equifax and Experian.""

This would suggest that they no longer believe MCO to be the source of the fraud. The plot thickens!!! And gets more confusing for many of us!!!0 -
Cheers Geomacl - I had read that on the AF site and didn't understand it. It might suit the NFIB to allow MCO to proceed with crime whilst they gather evidence against them. Your comment Debtfree is interesting as MCO was set up 15th Jan 2008. That is how far back this acitivity was planned. In the following time only zero accounts seem to have been returned as MCO has always had a non-trading SIC code. It is also probably a crime to trade whilst registered as non-trading. I'm sure MCO will have some explaining to do to the police here.0

I had my first (and only letter so far) after Experian had got the searches removed and I'd emailed MCO advising I'd never taken out a loan.
As to "of course they are passing on debt..." my letter from IJ (the debt collectors) was sent to me before the first due date of the fake loan. So it wasn't even unpaid at that pont, it wasn't even due to be paid until a week after I got the letter.0 -
Thanks for the update David - I was sure I had seen this in some posts. It may not be widespread because the normal chain of events is: receive the letter, find forum, make the contacts and checks. The only reasons you make checks before getting the letter would be if the CRA flagged it up or you stumbled on this forum and decided to do a pre-emptive check.
In response to your post Geomacl, just visited the NFIB web-site and they advise:
"Members of the public who think they may have been targeted by these fraudsters should contact Action Fraud.
At this juncture people are advised they should not be attempting to contact MCO Capital."
This is now in direct conflict with the AF guidance. As AF are supposed to be updated by NFIB, I would think the AF advice will be altered once more to the above.0 -
Debtfreeatlast wrote: »Rouncy, have you contacted Experian/Credit Expert and requested that they remove the search and loan account quoting your AF CRN number?
I would think this will stop it in its tracks, if you have and it has been removed if I were you I would aim your complaints at further harrasment directly to Experian\Credit Expert. If you have not made this step do it ASAP.
I would also add that if you have not done this then the account will be showing as in Default on your Experian Credit Rating.
Hello Debtfreeatlast,
Yes I have - I took out the free month's trial (& was careful to get confirmation of cancellation in writing); the MCO searches were removed some time between the 4th & 13th Oct, whilst the second letter from Helploan was dated 12th Oct. On the last Credit Report that I saw before my trial ended, there was no mention of MCO on it at all.0 -
grahamqat - I suspect that you are just as confused as I am!!!.
Now the advice seems to be don't contact AF for a CRN but contact MCO and Intrum Justitia and tell them to bog off? I despair.
If anyone from AF of NFIB are monitoring this site (as I'm sure they are) could they please clarify matters!!! SOONEST!!! People are still receiving letters - and some are receiving 2nd and 3rd letters!!0
