I was beginning to feel left out - everybody else was receiving their 2nd & 3rd letters - but my 2nd letter duly appeared on Saturday !

Rouncy, have you contacted Experian/Credit Expert and requested that they remove the search and loan account quoting your AF CRN number?

I would think this will stop it in its tracks, if you have and it has been removed if I were you I would aim your complaints at further harrasment directly to Experian\Credit Expert. If you have not made this step do it ASAP.

I would also add that if you have not done this then the account will be showing as in Default on your Experian Credit Rating.
  • Hi Debtfree... I don't think there will be any connection between being sent letters and info held by Experian. As long as your credit rating is OK and MCO get the info they want from Experian, you will get a letter. There are many people on this forum who have carried out all the actions (letter to MCO, Helploan, IJ etc also CRN from AF and removed credit checks from Ex). They still get letters. The letters are driven by the greed of the debt collectors. and the apparent reluctance by NFIB to stop it.
  • So does anyone know if this ActionFraud quango got the chop? I simply fail to see what benefit they provide - contradicting themselves time and time again and changing their "advice" on a weekly basis.

    Do we really need:-

    ActionFraud
    National Fraud Authority
    National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB)

Surely these three can be rolled up into one group who actually add some value???

Hi grahamqat - I would support Debtfree insofar as if the search record in not removed and, of course, the £300 loan debt in not paid (which I sure it will not be!!!!) then the credit report will show as a default and screw up your credit rating - I contacted Experian and had them reomved all traces of MCO!!!

I believe that you are being rather harsh on Action Fraud bridggar - they are part of, and run by, the National Fraud authority - see
    http://www.attorneygeneral.gov.uk/nfa/Pages/default.aspx
and are essentially the "window" into the NFA by those who are the victims of fraud.
As humble old me understands it, the other 2 organisations you mention, the NFA, as part of the Attorney General's Office, are primarily responsible for the legal aspects of fraud and the NFIB as part of the City of London Police are the investigative partner of the NFA. However, these 2 organisations also work with other police forces/agencies. Might, therefore, not be appropriate to roll up into one overall organisation
  • Thanks for that Geomacl - yes if you are worried about your credit rating then you would want all MCO traces removed. I dont think this is connected however with the sending of letters. Experian cant stop MCO or IJ or anyone else chasing non-existing debt by sending out letters. In fact almost the reverse is the case, in that if the CRA says you have good credit (and perhaps even confirms your adddress and DOB etc) they have unknowingly prompted the letter and given MCO a more saleable debt and ID.

I'm in a situation where I don't have a mortgage, and haven't applied for credit for many years. There is no reason why I should be on a CRA database at all. (Don't know how anyones file actually gets created in the first instance, perhaps somebody out there can tell us). Yet to check if this is the case I've got to give all this info to a CRA including address, DOB even credit card details. Am I going to do this - don't think so.

I will keep repeating this, by contacting Experian and requesting they remove the MCO search and the loan account, Experian then HAVE to contact MCO, if MCO agree to have it removed then they have admited liability and as such cannot pursue you further and if they do Experian can take action against MCO which could mean suspending their account, which scammer or not is the last thing MCO want..
  • And just to further add it will be a FACT that once it doesn't get paid it will get marked as in arrears, once a month or so goes by it will become in default. It will stay on there for six years and will be shared with other agencies. For the sake of signing up for a free months service from Credit Expert I really do ont understand why anyone wouldn't bother. and as I have advised many times in my opnion this action by itself will stop MCO in their tracks as proved (so far) by me.

6 weeks after the first search and never had any contact from MCO, I have never spoken to MCO nor Action Fraud nor the Police, merely one simple email stating that the MCO search has nothing to do with me and if MCO beleive it does please get them to provide evidence showing which Bank account of mine or linked to me it went in to..

Hi Debtfree - OK in theory, didn't work though in practice. Lots of peolpe have had 1 2 even 3 letters after contacting their CRA's. The problem is MCO is a criminal outfit, not a law-abiding company. The MCO fraudsters dont need Experian now. They've made their £60,000 on SMS, they've probably made approx £50,000 on 1% strike rate with letters, and they are moving on to the end game of selling all the ID's they've collected, and debt on to IJ. If you dont believe this we can ask all those who received letters after contacting their CRA to send in posts.

Hi grahamqat - your argument only holds if you are ABSOLUTELY certain that MCO are a criminal outfit and that as a consequence they will be blacklisted by CRAs - I decided to cover all bases and take out the free Experian membership and had them remove MCO checks from my record. They had to get MCO agreement to do this but they have done it - there is now no mention of MCO on my credit record.
