MCO Capital loan

In terms of getting online reports through on action fraud, the advice is now to go down the identity theft- bank loan - refused to refund route. MCO are no longer being considered the victim from what I've heard. There's an additional details box that allows you to explain anything you think may be unclear, or to enter anything that didn't fit the earlier fields. May help those who can't get through at the moment.
Thanks for that advice - I had found problems with submitting an online report to AF but with you clarifying the "identity theft - bank loan - refused to refund" combination to get to the end of the form that will help tremendously. Having failed to do so myself I did manage to get to an agent on the phone and all was resolved very efficiently and effectively.0 -
Hi geomacl,
When you say you made contact with them, do you mean CMO, Intrum Justitia or someone else? When I mentioned their name in my Action Fraud call, I got the impression that they hadn't heard of the connection.
Beatfraud mentioned yesterday about Warwick and a firm called Intrum Justica. Google the name and Intrum Justitia Ltd. comes up. They're a worldwide debt collection agency and rather nasty by the sounds of it after you look at their flash website and start delving into forum posts...0 -
Check out the thread at http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?268566-Help-pay-loan-company-rip-off/page2
The last post is great (although the earlier posts are very sad), as the writer states that he, his sister, and three other people in his street have received the Helploan letters demanding payment.
From hundreds to thousands, to tens of thousands?
Can't wait for the truth to come out - and hopefully the EAW will get some use.0 -
I'm not so sure you're right. I only had to prove who I was with a CIFAS alert attached to my credit file. In the end I had to produce Birth Certificate, Driving License, Passport, Bank Statement and Utility Bill, just to satisfy a mobile phone company. Having had all my documents photocopied so that they could be faxed to their credit department, I had to ask for the copies as the bloke behind the counter was about to throw them in the bin! No doubt my entire ID is held somewhere by them. Not a nice feeling.
Only just realised the significance of this post ....... did you get the Helploan letter, following an MCO search which would have included your CIFAS notice of correction? Thanks0 -
I received one of their letters. Looked like a scam as soon as I read it. (no letter headed paper, dodgy bank details, odd explination. No loan breakdown, no credit agreement reference and strange dates. Also the website seems to be hosted outside UK and created by a simpleton)
Had it been an e-mail, I'd just delete it and think no more about it.
My concern is that whoever is organising this must have actually spent some money as some seem to have had dubious credit checks done on them (I wonder what the cost of this is) and there is a cost to physically creating and posting a letter.
I still suspect this is a scam - but hopefully one with a large enough paper trail to lead to a prosecution at some point. Looking forward to it!0 -

Strongly recommend that you call Action Fraud and record this fraud perpetrated on you - and obtain a Crime Ref number - call AF on 0300 123 2040. Most of us on this forum have already done so - when you call, do not select button 1 - wait for an agent. AF have escalated this to the National Fraud Investigation Branch and want as many people to register as is possible!!
Their web site is http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/mco-capital-limited-sep10
If you check your credit rating - most likely Experian, you will find that they have checked your rating - you should ask Experian to remove these chacks!!0 -
I too got a letter and phoned, wrote and emailed them on Monday 27th Sept. They are still trading. I got the following very helpful response:
Dear Customer,
You recently informed us that you did not receive a loan from MCO Capital. The first step you should take is to contact a credit reference agency to alert them of this matter, one agency is Experian at Identityfraud@uk.experian.com or creditexpert.co.uk to report that an individual is using your Identity to fraudulently obtain credit. If they have used your Identity with MCO Capital, they may be using it elsewhere.
Then you have to make a report of the crime and get a crime reference number or equivalent. This reference number you type in to the letter.
The next step is we will need to receive this concern in writing accompanied with the invoice to the address below. When this is received, we will take the next steps in regards to this matter.

Identity theft is a serious problem for both you as a consumer and companies who grant credit as we both lose. As you may be the victim of identity fraud elsewhere, we urge you to further investigate this possibility. There are several websites available with information to help a victim of Personal Identity Fraud and what to do in these circumstances. For example, one such website is; CIFAS
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Should you require anything further, you may contact niklas.furu@rtffinance.com

Just seen the new information from Action Fraud. If you contact one credit agency, you've got to contact them all as they don't share information between themselves! Can you believe it! There are three Credit Ratings for each person in this country! If ever there was a case for one database this is it. I already pay Equifax for their service. Why should I also have to sign up to Experian and CallCredit to be able to check all three!0

I don't think much of this response - they already know that they (MCO) have approached Experian to check your records and they have told Action Fraud that letters should be sent to their Bresenden Place address.
See above post - strongly recommend you contact Action Fraud and get a Crime Ref Number, then write to MCO (recommended by AF) at their Bressenden Place address quoting Crime Ref Number - AF will advise that you do this.
Blow me down - I just checked my email and received an identically worded email also signed by "niklas furu". They are recommending a different address from that which they told AF we should write to. Is this a devious ploy to play for time and to try to convince us that MCO too is a victim?????
I'm going to email a reply to him with a copy of the letter I sent to Bressenden Place and quoting my CRN!!!!0 -
