  • Every day begins at 6.45ish with getting up, breakfast, packing bags, showering, dressing etc.
Tues/Wed and Thurs I work and get in at 4.30. So on these nights it's unpacking bags, cooking and eating tea, homework/reading with DS, making lunches for next day and ironing and updating diary with to do list for the next day.
Monday's are spent cleaning the downstairs of the house.
Friday's are spent cleaning the upstairs of the house.
I don't use the whole time whilst DS is at school just cleaning, there's always a bit of shopping to be done, jobs in the garden, banking to check and the countless other little jobs that need doing.
Having the 2 days off and dedicated jobs for those days just gives me a kind of framework to work with.
I also have a washing routine. Monday towels and bedding, Tuesday 40 degree colours wash etc. I have found that I can keep up with getting things dry, on airers, and the ironing pile doesn't become too huge either.
Since joining the OS board I'm now trying to build in using the BM more and attempting more homemade cakes. Babysteps, as trying to do it all at once is overwhelming which is where I fell down before.
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Wow, after reading this thread I have come to the conclusion not to have kids or pets! My day is a bit different to most as I work and commute for long hours. A typical day:

5.10 Alarm goes off and is snoozed for 10mins
5.20 Get up shower, down pint of water, get dressed, put lunch in bag
6.00 Leave house walk to station, get train
    7.00 Arrive at work
    5.30 Leave work
6.30- 7.00 Arrive home, go for run/ go to supermarket.
7.30 Cook dinner, do washing, make next day's lunch, sort out clothes for the next day (iron shirt etc). I bulk cook where possible.
8.30 Hang washing on drier, fill up dishwasher, wipe down kitchen, either throw the hoover around/ clean bathroom.
9.00 Cup of tea, watch TV or read book, catch up with friends and family on the phone. Paperwork, sorting out bills etc
    10.00 Bed
I also go to night school one evening per week so spend 3 hours on a Saturday/ Sunday morning studying (I get up at 7am) and spend 3 hours per weekend cleaning my flat (in the morning so I can spend the rest of the day doing fun things). I never seem to have much time either!
    Saving for an early retirement!

  • 6.16 Mr Watcher leaves for work, realising that Mrs Watcher may be having one of her "Mummy Monster Monday Mornings" and it would be safer to leave the immediate vicinity.

    Made me laugh :rotfl:
I have no kiddies and live with OH's parents until we move in the next few weeks, so I have very few jobs. OH gets up at 6 and I'm not usually up til 7 or 8 most mornings depending on where I need to be for work. Some days I need to drive 150 miles to the office. Once we move, I'll try to get up with OH a couple of days a week to help get all my jobs done.

Loved all the posts, can really 'see' what people are doing from the great descriptions.

PS - My lunch break officially ended about 5 mins ago! :D

On Saturday afternoons if I am home I clean up and make batch cookathons... Sunday is for shopping, then relaxing and getting ready for the new week...
