During weekdays all I do is the getting up, making breakfast and lunch, going to work, coming home, cooking and usually washing up. If needed I put a load of washing on in the evening. Am doing a phd so hardly a 9-5 job, and I have an hour and a half commute.
At the weekend I will generally spend one morning/afternoon (when husband is at football, he's a referee) doing some cleaning, laundry, ironing, making soup for the freezer for lunches etc..
The kitchen we always keep clean, I vacuum and clean the bathroom once a week (or every fortnight if we are away at the weekend), the house keeps itself tidy, I cook all our meals from scratch and either stop off to buy food at the supermarket/market on my way home or go at the weekend.

Am more of a morning person and prefer to get most of the jobs done first thing.Depends what shift I'm on.

    7am shift:

6am - up, shower, wake OH hang washing out.
7.40 - leave for work(breakfast at work) -OH or Mum gets kids up for school/college.All lunchboxes done night before.

5.30 - home from work.Put tea on, usually got out of freezer night before.

7.00 - eat, wash-up, get washing in and have a potter around.

8.30 - walk dogs, shower etc do lunch boxes put washing in machine(put on when I get up for loo in the night:o )

10.00 - MSE then off to bed.

11am shift - as before but once kids gone out I have a blitz around the house and a coffee before work.

I work shifts and its usually 2 days on 2 days off and a 3 day weekend every other weekend so all other jobs, batch cooking and flyladying done on days off. I iron as it comes off the line and clean the bathroom after use. Doing little and often nothing really builds up.
    Do what you love :happyhear

i don't really do things by time, as i have 2 chilkdren under 3 and the eldest only goes to nursery 1 morning a week at the mo. so i don't really have any ties. expect tuesday and friday. daugther is at nursery for half 8 tuesday and we go to a parent and toddler group on a fri for half 9.

but generally. i get up between 6 and 7. wash hair if needed. make a cuppa, feed cats. check hubby has everythign he needs for work. make bed or change them as appropiate. check online banking anbd poss mse etc

between 7 and 8. hang washing out on line if weathre good. if not hang on aireres. check meal planner and get out any meat etc from freezer if needed.open all curtains downstair and lay brekkie table once hubby has left for work. go upstairs and get washed and dressed. put anything in laundry basket if needed.

between 8-9 bring kids down for breakfast, while they are eating , i'll dash upstair and straigthen their beds. if they need changing all do this later through the day. bring the childrens clothes down for the day. once brekkie finished , clean up kids and get dressed, put everythign in washing up bowl, hoover floor and wash table and chairs down ( 14month old son is mucky, lol )

then betweeb 9 and half 12 we just do watever is need maybe go to town , or play in garden. no set plan. son will usually have his nap at half 11. while son is asleep my daugther and i will often make a cake or bisuits

by 12 i start to prepare lunch and then wake son up ifnot awake and we eat lunch by half 12. then again clear up and do the washing up. again afternoons are not that busy. i will get washing in off line by about 3 and fold up or iron as needed.i will then between 2 and 3 prepare any veg etc for dinner and i organise everything so i can get dinner on the table for just after 5. hubby gets home between 4:30 - 5:00 after dinner about 5:30 -5:45 i wash everything up and blitz the kitchen. then spend quality time with children. bath them everyother day and get ready for bed. son goes to bed between 6:30 and 6:45. spend time along with daugther and hubby. load up washing machine with daily washing and put this on ready for next day. feed cats again. daugther is in bed by 7:30 - 8:00. once she is in bed, i hoover all downstairs and tidy up. in the evenings i will have a bath or shower as and when needed.also will do baking if anythign is needed for next day. and i sit down and write my to do dlist for next day so i don't forget anythgn. if daugtehr hasd nursery next day then i get everything all out and ready

i generally tidy up and dust etc a bit at a time , throught out the day.

my day seems very muddly , but it is hard to wrtie down what i do as there is no strict times. i just go with flow. have prob forgotton alot of things sorry.
  • My fun-packed day goes something like this;

6.45 ish- get up and dressed.Load WM. Drink coffee OH has made me, whilst MSEing
7.15 ish- make kids breakfast, wash it up, put lunchboxes in lunch cases.Yell at dd to eat breakfast, get dressed, clean teeth, do hair.
8ish- ds1's ride to school arrives and we swap kids- he goes with them, their younger ones stay with me (they've just arrived). Half an hour of peace on the computer with a couple of oatcakes, an apple and a cuppa.
8.40- Gather my remaining 2 plus other 2 together and walk to school.
9.10- Back from school. Unload WM, refill, hang up laundry. Then, shopping/library/baking/gardening/housework.
    1 ish - lunch, then reading/MSE
3- Walk to school to fetch kids
3.30 -give kids a snack + drink, empty lunchboxes and wash, read endless missives from school. Ds1 is dropped off and other kids go home with their mum. Remind kids to do hmwk. Have cup of tea.
4-6- Pack lunches for kids and OH, refrigerate. Prepare evening meal
    6 - eat
7- supervise dd's bath + bedtime (alternate with OH), shower, more MSE
8 - ds1+2 go to bed and a bottle of wine is opened 4 nights out of 7 and OH and I veg out in front of TV/DVD
    11 ish - bed

Some evenings there are activities such as judo and dance lessons, so the kids eat a bit earlier than me and OH.

    Here is my routine:-
6am - alarm goes off - hit snooze
    6.10 - hit snooze
    6.20 - hit snooze
6.30 - shout "oh my god!" and jump out of bed - hang laundry - put washing up from last night away - start washing machine - make coffee - have cig and coffee - look at time - shout "oh my god!" again and get dd up and race her to the bathroom - check that dd has done her morning jobs - she has laminated sheets of jobs she has to do in the morning, when she comes home from school and after dinner - saves asking endless questions about teeth hair and homework - just ask if she's done her jobs.
7.30 - prod boyf. if he stayed over and drop dd off at breakfast club - cycle to work.
5pm - leave work - drop into asda on way back - pick up dd from after school
6pm - more laundry - cook - set table - wash up as i go - start bread for next day - eat dinner with dd and spend a bit of quality time with her - at the moment this mostly consists of endless games of dr who top trumps and testing her 17 times tables.
8pm - i'm Flying so try to do one weekly job and one zone job a day
9pm - tell dd it's bedtime - more laundry (where does it come from - there's only two of us for goodness sakes as eldest dd does her own!)
9.10pm - tell dd it really really is bedtime
9.20pm - chase dd up to bed for final time - write shopping list for next day, put bread in oven, leftovers in fridge/freezer, fold and put away ironing, tidy kitchen, wash floor, sort out clothes and bag for next day, soak any laundry that needs it - do some sewing and listen to some comedy on bbc7.

i get wednesdays off so either blitz the house or go visiting

If its a mummy weekend dd and i go to football (brentford fc) on saturday and on sundays we check london freelist or go on a longish cycle ride.
if it's a daddy weekend then i will do some big jobs around the house and/or spend time with boyf.

Well all that sounds far more organised than it feels in reality

    Stef
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
  • MrsMortenHarket realises what a lazy moo-bag she is!
  • Well - my day so far.............................

6.00 Woken by Mr Watcher with a nice cuppa tea. Ah, bliss

6.15 Joined on the bed this morning by DS1 (12) discussing missing, homework, football boots, PE kit, school uniform etc etc. Dispatched back to his own room with strict instructions to open his blimmin eyes and he may actually find these items for himself!

6.16 Mr Watcher leaves for work, realising that Mrs Watcher may be having one of her "Mummy Monster Monday Mornings" and it would be safer to leave the immediate vicinity.

6.20 Rejoined by DS1, who had surprisingly found all the missing items in his bedroom - duh!

    6.25 Shower.

6.30 AARGH!!! DS1 has taken the last bath towel to put in his PE kit. Dry self with remaining tiny girly hand towels. Dress and strip our bed ready for washing later. Take wet towels from bathroom for first washing of the day.

6.35 First call for DD2 (9) then downstairs to survey last night's abandoned bombsite and let the dogs out.

6.45 Unload and reload DW and WM.

7.00 Make packed lunches and think about what we're having for tea.

7.15 Prepare beef stew ingreedyments for loading into the SC later.

7.30 Realise DD2 is still in bed NNOOOOOO! Call DD2 with threats of no breakfast if she doesn't appear within the next 5 minutes.

7.30 and 30 secs. DD2 appears in kitchen. More clearing and cleaning

8.00 Tell DD2 to get a move on. More clearing and cleaning

8.20 Dogs, kids, bags and me into the car to drive to DS1's school.

8.30 Arrive at school and launch DS1 into the week. Turn round to drive across town to DD2's school

    8.45 Dispatch DD2.

8.50 Drive to local woods and walk dogs for 45 mins. Realise that instead of having one black dog and one ginger dog I am now the proud owner of one black dog and one ginger dog with added drainage ditch slurry up to it's neck.

9.45 Arrive home, having been gassed all the way by the smell of wet dirty dogs. Makes mental note to hose down ginger dog before she's let into the house. Opens front door to ringing phone. Stinky hound sneaks in behind me whilst I'm distracted.

9.50 Realise Stinky hound is in the house by the muddy foot prints up the wooden stairs, across the landing and into our bedroom where she had decided to curl up on the bed linen on the floor.

9.51 Realise that this has to be a damage limitation exercise and decide to put doggo into the shower (over bath type) rather than chase her downstairs and outside to the hose.

9.52 Strip down to vest and pants, grab the dog and try to (wo)man-handle her over the edge of the bath and under the shower.

10.00 Nice clean-ish dog but inch of mud in the bath. Realise that I've forgotten to bring a dog towel into the bathroom, then panic when I remember that all the towels are downstairs.

10.05 It's amazing how much water one average sized round ginger labrador-esque dog can absorb. It's also amazing how far it can spread this water given the opportunity. Bathroom is swimming, landing floor ditto and also the walls where she has shaken herself, bedroom floor wet too where she has run to get away from my Mummy Monster explosion. Get dressed.

    10.06 Dog consigned to garden.

10.07 Mop, bucket, stardrop and microfibre cloths taken upstairs and put to good use. Bath mucked out, walls washed, floor mopped. Landing mopped, walls washed down and bedroom floor mopped (wood, tiles and laminate floor everywhere).

10.30 More tea and a 10 minute break on MSE. :rotfl:

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

Good thread, I am such a "curtain twitcher" I love threads like this.

6.30 - 7.00 - DD comes in and wakes me up.
7.00 - Up, make beds and straighten rooms, shower, swish bathroom, dress in whatever doesn't need ironing (usually just undies) and do makeup.
7.30 - downstairs, open curtains, kiss kids, iron uniforms and anything that needs ironing for me then dress kids and finish dressing myself!!
7.45 - kids sit down to breakfast.
7.45 - 7.55 - make lunches and try to pry bread out of bread machine.
7.55 - Go to move car from outside house before parking warden arrives and gives me a ticket. (Don't ask)
    8.00 - Do DD's hair.
8.10 - Put kids bags, lunchboxes, PE kits, coats by door.
8.15 - Straighten kitchen, put WM on timer, fold any clean, dry washing and take upstairs, eat cereal, grab my lunch from freezer or fridge and start asking kids to get shoes on.
8.20 - ask kids to get shoes on
8.30 - ask kids to get shoes on for the last time then me or DH hustle them out the door and into car.
If doing school run am in office by 9.20, if not am in by 9.00
Work until five usually, sometimes later.
If DH is on a day shift, leave work at 3.00 and pick up kids, I love these days, it's the closest I get to being a SAHM and I get to bake etc with kids.
16.00 - sort lunchboxes, schoolbags - reply to letters / party invites / file homework in individuals tray / hear about day from kids.
16.30 - Hang out wash that was on timer, start preparing dinner.
    17.00 - 18.00 - Homework, housework etc ( Wednesday's football)
    18.30 - dinner
19.15 - upstairs for showers, jim jams. teeth, story and bed. Get next days clothes ready for ironing in the morning, straighten b'room and put away any clean washing.
19.30 - downstairs - finish loading DW if DH hasn't done, straighten kitchen, put another load in WM.
20.00 - general housework, sweeping floors, call family etc, get meat out of freezer for next days dinner. If next day dinner in SC, then prepare that and put in fridge. Put ingredients in BM on timer for following morning.
21.00 Sit down with DH to read or watch TV, may do a little sewing if needed whilst watching. Hang out second load from WM. Put next one in to be put on timer in the morning (if enough).
21.30 - 22.00 - Upstairs, sometimes shower, read and lights out usually by 22.30 latest.

Weekends are spent doing big cleans and any other little jobs that need doing and trying to spend at least one day out with kids. (If I'm at home get twitchy thinking of all that needs doing).

I'm exhausted just reading it. :D

    My day is mainly filled with making sure kids get to school on time;
    *DD1 9am - 3.30pm daily
*DS 9.30am-12pm mon, wed & thur
*DD2 at home with me all day (!)

Doing running of house type chores.ie.laundry, dishes, hoovering, bed making, tidying, cooking, cleaning...........and on and on and on:rolleyes:. Doing play time with kids, hmwk with kids. Then we have the various activites.ie.ballet, toddler group etc. The comittees.ie.toddler group, nursery, school, village hall, it seems like they have meetings every week! Doing house accs, toddlers group accs. Organising shopping to be delivered, keeping up with the endless demand for HM cakes etc.

TRYING to have a bit of *me* time once a week, this normally involves going to my weight watchers meeting - LOL!

I often think I'm hard done by and moan about how much I have to do but reading this I realise I need to organise my time better cause it looks like there isnt actually that much to do. Might try and fudge a timetable together today:o
    WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbs
    Weight today = 17st 6.5lbs
    Loss to date 32.5lbs!!!
