sorry not read all the posts
My mum used to work evenings and nights as a district nurse when I was little, at night I was left with my dad and during the day from what I remember I was either at play group, My nana came down to visit or one of my mum's friends looked after us, until we were old enough to stay by ourselves whilst my mum slept upstairs.
(by the way it didn't go down well at primary school when we had to talk about our parents jobs in assembly with other parents watching and I said that my mum walked the streets at night, the teacher soon jumped in, I was 5 years old)

I'm soon going to be a mum (baby seems to have other ideas!) I'm a nurse I'll be working 3 days a week for two weeks and then 3 nights a week for two weeks alternately and at the moment my parents have offered to do child care but I'll also do weekends where my hubby will be able to look after her.
  • Thanks everyone for your opinions and input.

I didnt get the job on Saturday - they needed someone who could start at 6pm which I cant do. Onwards and upwards!

    Hello,
I've been working as a care assistant for people in their own homes- care companies are often very flexible with the hours they offer as people need care at all times of the day. I used to work 5.30 until 10 & every other Sunday night- they were often calling me up to cover more hours & so I was able to compromise with them sometimes. This kind of work is especially good for people with children, hence why I stayed with it for nearly 4 years until my DS started school. Good luck!

I work evenings/nights/weekends as a support worker in a residential home.

The nights are sleep-ins rather than waking hours so I can go about my normal business the next day.

Another option is perhaps a cleaning job - many places will give you a key and want the cleaning done after hours?

Care work is probably the way to go but it will depend on hours. Some start at 10pm but work until 8am which may be too late in the morning for you?

You may be better off with Homecare, as said, because they need people later on in the day to help clients into bed etc.

Also, many homes I know of employ laundry staff in the evenings so that may be worth a look. You could probably move over to care if a position became available.

im not a mum - but - there were loads of people working in my previous job who were, they worked part time evenings as it suited childcare wise. if its some extra cash look into call centres most are now open 24hours
just be aware that you may need to sell.
