    Hi zorrotgb,
    I too have tried claiming for charges on HBOS. I was declined and when phoned up, was advised that Bank of Scotland had decided not to pay out on business accounts!! aye right!!.:rotfl: I have passed it on to the FOS and on speaking to them was more or less told this is bulls!!t. Hopefully they will get me a result,
    cheers Izzy

    I have been trying to reclaim default charges on my now closed business account and the " silly billies" at HBOS thought they were dealing with my personal account !!! the good news is that they have admitted to over charging me by £521 which I didn't really know about and are now sending out a cheque.
    The bad news is that they have passed my letters to the business section who have now replied saying that all the recent publicity refers only to personal accounts, does anyone know if this is correct as I would like to pursue them for these charges.

    This thread may be of help to you on reclaiming charges back from a business account;

    Hi, i have a buisness bank account and i wrote to the bank to claim back bank charges thay had made. thay wrote back and said that under the unfair contracts terms act 1977 and the unfair terms in consumer contracts regulations which the office of fair trading mentions dont apply to business customers and that these acts and regulations only apply to consumers their for they will not refund any charges thay have charged.
    Can any one see a way around this can they do this?

    I believe the largest payout so far (£36,000) was for a business account, so they are talking rubbish.
    Start court proceedings.

  • Hi,

    I've been charged £15 per month for a few months now for a business bank account with the bank of scotland.

    Previously it was totaly free banking, but then they decided to change this.

    If you have less than £5000 in your account at any time, you'll be charged £15 every month!

    I'm going to try and claim it back, but the problem is they DID send a letter out warning of this change, but I didnt notice for a few months! (too busy trying to run a small business)!

    Has anyone been succesful with this?

    Rich

    This sounds like a charge for operating the account rather than a penalty charge so be prepared for the worst.

    Time to change banks?

    Are you referring to transaction charges or unauthorised borrowing charges?
