Computer running slow (with large pictures)

I'm not technologically minded and I have never made myself out to be.
Not once have you told me WHY I need to re-install Windows and for that reason I am not going to. I don't see the need for it

You wrote that the computer was slow and I asked you in my very first post to you;If you don't have any important info on the PC, would you consider running a clean install?
So you should mull on that for a while before you decide to slip into petulance. Having to write something three times before you decide to read it is no fun at al..

OK, I apologise for being "petulant" but if you has explained right from the word go the reason for the re-install (ie....you re-install, your computer will go faster) then I might not have had to have you repeat everything 3 times
Still not re-installing windows thoughSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Seems that it was all my fault :rotfl:
So carry on with your 'slow' computer and stop bothering us if you don't wish to follow the advice given.

I am not saying it is all your fault. It is partly my fault and I have apologised for that.
I just don't know how re-installing will make it quicker, considering it's age (and the fact the hard drive keeps threatening to pack up)Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

So if the HDD is "threatening to pack up", the solution is to get a new HDD and then to do.....a clean install.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure what it is that you want.
You can stop all your programs from auto-starting, use the AVG removal tool, install a new anti-virus solution....
Will it make it faster? Who knows.0 -
Wow Donnie - at least I took your advice after I had a rant at you!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Marg

Ive no clue what you were thinking as you wrote this thread. But youve constantly declined Donnies help. His help was sound (especially when he asked you to press the WINDOWS key and the PAUSE/BREAK keys together to bring up information about your computer)
I suspect you need more RAM which is the bottom line
Your logs are fine. Without more information from you (Which I suspect your not going to give, which is whats baffling me) then your on your own
As for reinstalling, this will make the machine as quick as it will get with your current hardware. Over periods of time your hardrive will store more and more data. Its this data thats slowing your computer down (But again, I suspect it will be slow even with a fresh install as you probably dont have enough memory):idea:0 -
OK, I have apologised for being an idiot and I know that I have not listened to any information that has been given to me.
aliEnRIK and Donnie, what information do I need to give to help sort this mess of a PC out?
IF I decided to put in a new hard-drive and some new RAM would that be an easy job? How would I find out what harddrive I needed?
How much RAM is enough? I think I remember someone telling me 2gb last time *confused*
Would it make the computer quicker?
Would I be able to use the info that Donnie has given me about making a bootable OS disc to re-install XP on a new hard-drive as we cannot afford to get a new OS (Would have Windows 7 if we could afford it and the computer could handle it)?
I am very thankful for the help that I am given. I will admit I am very stubborn where technology is concerned as I am not ever 100% sure of what I am doing.Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -
