So shocked that you found out, I did the same though with DD1 found out at 29 weeks, just sort of blurted out 'what's the sex'?
Very nice to have one of each, especially when you have said before that you are stopping at two. Not that there's anything wrong with two the same sex naturally.
I preferred the knowing and if I'm ever lucky enough to be pregnant again I would definitely find out the sex. I preferred the pregnancy knowing, picking girlie clothes and we were calling the baby 'her' name, and getting 'her' nursery ready it all seemed more personal somehow.
I don't regret not finding out with DD2 though cos at least I can say I had the 'surprise' although it wasn't surprising when I was pretty convinced she was a she.OPs so far £42,139

No one is more shocked than me that we wanted to know! I have a lot of pink things to sort through now. The pram i got today is red anyway so suits either sex. We may keep the name private though otherwise everyone knows everything except the weight (although that will prob be a talking point for me!).
Homebirth is not looking likely, they are suggesting an epidural in the early stages!! What?????June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Yay team blue. How lovely for you. I hate waiting for surprises so we found out both times, and probably would again. I'm too impatient for my own good.
Glad you had a nice break. Hope the rest of your week off goes well.0 -
Wonderful news Cath. Boys are lovely ( although girls are too ) boys are more affectionate.
yay to a boy:j:j:jI can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Why an epidural?
Around here they aren't popular, not sure why, I requested one with DD1 when they asked me about my birth plan (hadn't prepared one, was petrified about giving birth so didn't do antenatal, the head in the sand approach) the MW looked at me as if to say !!!!!!, and she just said we'll see how you go. Didn't need one in the end.OPs so far £42,139

Congratulations Cath.
We found out at 20 weeks with both ours. Especially with the second one, I found it very helpful to be able to tell DS he would be getting a sister etc. But I'm with you on keeping the name private until the end. I think partly I wanted to reserve the right to change my mind (although in fact I didn't) and partly I didn't want people saying they didn't like the names, or suggesting different ones - which apparently many people feel much freer to do before the birth than afterwards.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

I think it's purely based on DD's size of 9lb 10.5oz but my labour was fab! That's why I thought I would be ok with a homebirth. From midwife coming to do sweep to DD arriving was 14 hours which i think is great for first baby and I was only really in bad pain for about 2.5 hours.
When I asked 'why am I here' he said it was to discuss pain relief options???? He suggested an early epidural would be better in case I need an assisted delivery and if the labour goes on a long time - but why should it? I have no idea what they expect to happen. I have to be honest though, now I know I am expecting a boy I am worried about him being even bigger than DD was.
I agree about the name thing, everyone knows someone they don't like etc with that name and can try and put you off.
Not sure how much money making i'll do today, been up since 5am with a grumpy 2.5yoJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hope you will ask them to explain this, have you looked at the homebirth website? I don't understand this at all - not that I understand everything...Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Morning Cath (gosh, its almost lunchtime now!)
If you want a homebirth hun then you should make it clear to your midwife. Unless there's a medical reason not to then they shouldn't be able to dictate what you should do to you. Especially if labout went well for you last time.
Can you tell my antenatal class is very much about doing what you feel is right?Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
