Hi,
Just wanted to say, with my first child I was told I was having a boy, lovely. Had everything planned, sorted and bought.
Went into labour, we had decided on names so the name tag was already written out by the mw on the table etc.
Gave birth and what did I have ............. a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I even ended up arguing with the mw that she had made a mistake and I wanted my boy and it was only when she shooved the baby under my nose for proof that I believed her so my h and I had to quickly come up with a girls name for the tag! We didn't half give all the family a surprise as well, it was a good job we had the camera there to prove she was ours :rotfl:
So, word of warning, be prepared!0 -
Cath you have to do what you feel is right...opps just realised smlsave said that. Copy cat.:p
It's your body, you know what you want and what your body and mind is capable of.
You'll find now that you are more assertive anyway with it being your second.
Babies don't increased in size just because they're the 2nd 3rd or 6th ... I can prove that.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -

Morning Cath (gosh, its almost lunchtime now!)
If you want a homebirth hun then you should make it clear to your midwife. Unless there's a medical reason not to then they shouldn't be able to dictate what you should do to you. Especially if labout went well for you last time.
Can you tell my antenatal class is very much about doing what you feel is right?
Thanks hun, I have requested it and they do document each time that is what I want. Midwife seems to think i wouldn't have been referred to consultant purely on DD's weight. I have a friend who mentionned yday she was advised similar and she stayed at home as long as possible (till 7cm). If i remember correctly her little boy was 10lb+
I am certainly not going to let them bully me into all this invasive stuff, they might as well do a section the fuss they are making!Hi,

That would be a surprise and one of the reasons i said i wouldn't find out as it's not 100% Baby's heartrate is lower than what DD's was so hopefully that's backing up the scan. Who knows though!Cath you have to do what you feel is right...opps just realised smlsave said that. Copy cat.:p

Thanks Iris, I think they plan to scan me at 36 weeks but I know those scans aren't accurate.
Hmmmm, lost some of my multi-quotes, thought is was being good and letting me do more than 3 and quote everyone! Back to find those I missed now!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Thanks hun, I looked at the site when you recommended it earlier and it's got some great information. I think i need to read a bit more on it. When I mentionned to midwife at last appt she said DH and I would need to sign a risk assessment (more than likely a disclaimer if things were to go wrong) but that it would be ok.
We are 5 mins, possibly 3 minutes blue light from the hospital.
However, after comparing scan sizes with some friends on my baby forum this baby appears to have the biggest head!!! :eek:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Have a few jobs I need to get done before going back to work next week as some of the paperwork has been on the dining table for a while!
- Enrol baby at nursery (if i'm returning in April I'm probably too late but this depended on getting a new job which i don't think has been successful - prob returning June or September) Done! Will send form with dd next week.
- Send back tax credits renewal pack which arrived this morning.
- Apply for maternity leave from employer (few forms to fill in) but think I may have to wait for my MATB1 Form done but need MATB1 as i thought.
- Reduce Sky package as football season finishes next week so we could go onto basic package over the Summer Online chat service is down and i refuse to pay for the call!
- Ring manager about a job I have seen advertised and would like (staff in my dept are being redployed so I am hoping I could possibly be moved although I doubt they will since it has already been advertised  Email sent

Need to cross the first 2 items off 'to do' list today as my week off is flying! I have already checked what my days off are next week - that's a bad sign!!
My work situation is unsettling me at the moment, my dept is closing eventually (this was confirmed last Dec but nothing happened about it) but the next dept have temp closed and staff been redeployed. I want to be redeployed sooner rather than later as staying is not an option. If jobs come up I like I still need to apply like everyone else but if a firm decision was made re: closure I would be offered a choice of 2 new jobs. Meanwhile vacancies are being filled in places I would like to work!
Anyone else having problems on Bingoport? I am thinking of giving it up as it is driving me mad!
However I did redeem a £10 Amazon voucher from MySurvey last night.
My friend is also expecting and she already has a boy, we discussed if she was having a girl this time we could trade lots of stuff. She is having another boy so have to find a plan B! I want to make a fuss of decorating the nursery this time as DD's bedroom is really neutral apart from pink curtains etc which we accessorised with after she was born.
Any tips of convincing a 2.5yo that she IS having a brother not a sister. She is still adamant it's a girl!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I have just been filling out enrolment forms for the baby for nursery as advised by the manager as she is already filling spaces for next April. I will either return in June or September 2012 but still undecided. Seems so strange when I'm only halfway through!
I'm a bit confused by the wording in my work maternity policy. I currently claim the maximum in childcare vouchers £243 a month £55 a week. However my policy says this "the reduction to pay would be an average of £110 a week. This means the employee would receive £55 x 52 weeks maternity and their maternity pay would reduce by the same amount £100 x 26 weeks."
I am very confused, from what I can make out because company maternity pay is paid for the first 26 weeks but childcare would be taken for up to 52 weeks this is why it is done this way?
I have no idea what reduction to expect in my wage now and when it would be taken? Anyone else claimed the vouchers whilst being on maternity leave?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Just received a cheque for £30.08 from GTM. I am really impressed with the service as I only requested it on 13th April.
Also collected together loose change earlier (including DH's overspill drawer in dresser) and will have to take it to one of those coinsorter machines as it's all to random to bag up!
Anyway between the two I can send another £50 OP to leave account tomorrow. DH gets paid tomoro and I haven't even planned next months OP yet!
Am going to pick up some baby boy clothes later I am buying locally and I have also realised DH and I have the day off together on Friday so perhaps we could start on the nursery!! I think it's a good idea to get things done before I get tired again as I'm feeling pretty good at the moment!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Could anyone be so kind as to send me a link to www.thismuchiknow.co.uk
I can't get to the mortgage spreadsheet bit and as my internet has played up I have lost all my favourite sites so can't access it :mad:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
