It is hard to divert the surplus wages away from the mortgage! Be strong and use it to enjoy this month x

Consistency right to the end Jimmy.

Am definitely a creature of habit Apple and so used to overpaying. Will definitely enjoy some treats though. Am sending dh to do the food shop which increases the likelihood of yummy treats.

£67 overpayment this morning to empty food budget account and £88 sent from main account to cc,

Just getting some figures ready to set some goals during my time off. I want to strike the balance as once mortgage, student loan etc is gone we will have much more disposable income than we need so am happy for the journey to take a little longer on the scenic route filled with holidays.

Well Christmas has been and gone and I have eaten far too much. My body is craving fruit this morning and thankfully no buffets planned. We really have had a lovely time though, fairly low key and had Christmas dinner at y mums and some family came to us yesterday for a buffet. Next plans are a meal NYE and other than that Christmas is over. The children were really pleased with their presents and I've just totalled up our spends. Considering we don't go ma or buy for many I'm shocked at what we have spent (no main Christmas presents here either). £392 cash plus £88 vouchers/points spent. Our food spends don't particularly increase although we do add in some naughty treats.

I've been looking at hoiday options for next year but not sure I can bring myself to spend £3k on one holiday although we always spend £4+ on two holidays, it's psychological!

Made some more overpayments this morning - £75 for an expense not currently active, £12ish from current account cash back and some of the extra in my wages. The result is that we have knocked another month off and only need about £30 overpayment to knock another one off. The rest of the extra money is being diverted to a 0% cc which ends later this year.

Hope everyone has a relaxing/productive day planned. I am about to tackle the bedrooms after deciding to re-arrange some furniture yesterday. Needing to take the bedroom door off to do so wasn't quite in the plan :rotfl:. Then we're off for a woodland walk with the dog to get some much needed fresh air.

    December spends

    Supermarket £239.93
    Fuel £151.30

  • You have done really well keeping in control. I think £500 for Christmas for a young family is fantastic. I know what you mean on the holiday front. £3k sounds huge when you can go twice for that. Are you looking at a 2 week break?

Thanks mfd, definitely helps not needing to do the big food shop. We are finishing the leftovers today then it's back on normal food. Will make a veg soup for work lunches this week (back to work normality for me).

Holiday finally booked yesterday, we've gone for 10 days in Tenerife and only 2 school days missed. Doesn't feel that far away and already looking forward to it. Needed to pay £400 deposit which was covered by leftover wages. Also sent £145 to cc and left us just over £100 cash which should be achievable.

Have moved some furniture around in the house so the snug now has a purpose again. Just need to convince dd to finish tidying her bedroom.

    Now for 2020 goal setting.......

Well I tidied dd's bedroom for her! I've also swapped the desk out of the spare room and put a bookcase in there instead. Looks so much better already. Dd did sort out some stuff for the bin so some of the clutter has gone.

30p requested from tcb which I will overpay in a bit. My car has had a mini valet - was much needed and although I can't really justify the £18 cost I'm just glad it's done. I've bought some seat protectors from groupon as it's getting mucky with the dog.

Christmas food almost fully decluttered and I've had yet another roast dinner. I'm feeling so lethargic from eating all the wrong foods. Back to work tomorrow so need to feel energised and focused - currently feel neither of those!

Dh payday today so have finished the money shuffle, 11p Tilly tidied and we absolutely need a super frugal January. I've left us with £100 but forgot about the pet insurance and football subs which come out of main account.

Looks like we're managing on around £50 for anything non food or fuel related!

Just found myself halfway down page 5. That is a slow start to the month!

Food shop has been done and I think Dh has bought fuel, will check the accounts! Am not feeling organised at all at the moment!

Hopefully be back over the weekend with some plans......
