I think about £80 will do it. Overpaid £3 today as nearly frittered away money on cake etc so stopped myself. Got home from work and it seems dh has done t on my behalf anyway doing the food shop. I really am running on sugar at the moment and looking forward to getting back on track eating nutritious food!
Day off tomorrow and plans very much depend on the weather. Am making myself a 'to do' list in case it rains all day.

Absolutely, there should be very little temptation around in January. I may start just after Christmas as no real plans for NYE. If I could stop eating biscuits that would be a step in the right direction!
Day off didn't go to plan, the idea was to visit the Christmas markets either in our town or the nearby City, it was very much weather dependent but then I ended up with ds off poorly from school. dh stayed with ds and I tackled some more Christmas shopping and got a good haul without spending too much. I'm not sure what our running total is but it's all logged and we still have £27 in the budget!
£151 to last 10 days for food and fuel, we don't need fuel and very little food so budget is £51. :j
Had a balance transfer offer through for the cc today which I may have to give in and do. We have a t3sco card we use to stooze but the balance has built up and we're paying a decent amount of monthly interest. A transfer fee would be around 2 months worth of interest so probably needs doing. Psychogically it just feels like 'real debt' if it's on an interest free card. Not very MSE as I'm currently paying interest!
Had two lovely walks with the puppy and managed to dodge the rain both times.
This weekends plan is more decluttering and sorting. This part of running a home is never-ending.
56p tilly tidy this morning, even more determined to get this mortgage down following events overnight.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Poor nutrition continues...
49p Tilly tidy and more importantly a NSD. I've been productive and sorted out ds toys which are now in boxes in a unit downstairs so more accessible (he doesn't play in his bedroom) and moved a unit from his room into the snug. Bathrooms cleaner, stairs hoovered and dog walked twice (both times avoiding the rain!)
Another Christmas present has arrived, the one I ordered a few days ago to replace the one that didn't arrive for dh's order. I've still got loads of wrapping to do which I'll try and get done on my day off this week.
Food budget now only needs to last 8 days and I'm anticipating being able to make a decent OP just before payday which is always a satisfactory time to do so!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Today has been a lovely balance, had some lovely walks with the dog and braved having him off the lead in a fairly open space. We usually take him to some woodland grounds to do so where we feel more confident. He's doing so well though and is only 5 months.
Managed to wrap some Christmas presents this afternoon hidden away upstairs. There is a rather suspicious pile covered with a curtain in the bedroom but so far it has raised no suspicion :rotfl:
Have been to the supermarket including a last minute dash just before closing for baking items. I was shocked at how busy it was but I guess it's due to the time of year. Came home, walked the dog taking in the Christmas lights on our estate then had a lovely roast dinner and crumble. The children decorated some biscuits which created a nice Christmas memory. I'm trying to tell them that they won't remember playing on their games consoles
Am planning on an earlyish night after sleeping poorly the last two nights, but first an elf antic awaits! It's going to be a baking theme which i may well regret when I need to clean up in the morning!

Elf antic went down well, have done a much less messy one tonight! Ds has been doubting it a bit this evening so I had a mini panic when I couldn't find an elf and suspected they were testing the elves and me. Thankfully found him sitting on the kitchen window sill (possibly drying off after getting covered in flour last night!!)
No Tilly tidy today but did send 95p yesterday. Had a nsd today which is always good. I do have a few projected spends tomorrow but will try and keep under control as much as possible.
Slow and steady but everything is going in the right direction. I was thinking earlier whilst walking the dog that officially we have 10 years left on the mortgage and remember a comment made to
Me years ago about mortgages. That person said 'you only really start to pay it off in the last 10
Years' thankfully I had my lightbulb moment about 10 years ago.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
And we have been knocking around mse for nearly ten years now Cath :eek:MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Time flies Newgirly.
Not enough hours in the day here at the moment and an definitely ready for a break but am not quite there yet.
Finally managed to get dd to opticians and new frames ordered which were free so I've overpaid the £20 I was estimating they would cost. Also sent a 50p Tilly tidy today.
Am still waiting for Christmas presents to arrive which are promised to come this week so really hoping they do as not many postal days left. Other than that most things are wrapped and as are not cooking at home we don't have the dreaded big food shop to do! Really searching for the positives here!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Trying to get a little more organised here this morning. Found some money leftover in present budget so have overpaid that - we are now closer to knocking that month off. I plan to sit over the holidays to set some goals as I really feel we are approaching the final stretch of mortgage 1. I do also need to use surplus wages effectively this month instead of throwing it all at mortgage 2.
Enjoyed a lovely meal out last night as had already paid a deposit it only cost £20 including a couple of glasses of wine. Well worth it and it was such a lovely evening.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Great going. And a measure of planning that even a few days before Christmas you are at the stage that you can make overpayments.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
