Pushing on with the mortgage free journey. No wine purchased last night, tempted to overpay the £7-£10 we would have spent. We watched a Netflix film and I was in bed by 10pm!
50p tilly tidy yesterday and 18p today. Also sent the £403.47 standard overpayment to mortgage 1 (this keeps us on track for original end date)
I do fancy a shopping trip to the r@nge for a new side table and some bits and pieces to make it look pretty. Just need to measure the gap at the side of the sofa and I'll pop out later today or tomorrow when it's a lot drier. We are booked on a puppy recall training class today (90 minutes in a very wet and muddy field). The original plan was for us all to go but Dh being a superstar and he's going to take the puppy leaving us at home.
We're on half term now and I also have 5 days off so hoping to fully recharge those batteries!

Hi Cath
Sounds like your going great on MF goals and super impressed on food spends ... Its one area I struggle to keep down at times!!
Well done on resisting wine ( Netflix and early ish night on a Friday sounds fab!)
Puppy sounds chaotically gorgeous!on my list one day so picking up tips from those who've gone before!

Puppy is fab and we are through the initial tricky weeks of house training, night wakings and general sprocker craziness! Just need to keep up with the practise from puppy training classes.
Ventured out yesterday in search of a side table. I didn't find one and couldn't believe how busy it was. I know I have a sheltered life of not going shopping often (Dh does the food shopping) but it was like Christmas shopping madness! Also got the y@nkee candle offer in b00ts (forgot to use current account for Cashback which is slightly annoying). I'll use some bits from it to bump up Christmas presents for others.
Have seen a side table on a fb selling site so hopefully can pick that up today and I'll venture out for bits for it when it's calmer in r week.
Time to watch the rugby now. What a game it will be!

Well we somehow managed a NSD. Had a lovely meal at my mums today and was good to catch up.
First of a few extra days off tomorrow and just had some of key 'to-do' list whirring through my head so wanted to get written down.
Sort out phone upgrades and source sim only deal.
Cancel boiler cover as premium has shot up.
Open premium bonds savings
Well it definitely felt like more than 3 tasks in my head!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Very grateful to have some extra days off this week. Nothing done off my to do list.
However, I have......
Walked the dog twice
Washed and line dried (finished off on radiators) some washing. Resisted putting the heating on all day - layers were needed though.
Popped to Mr S for last day of 25% off. I really dislike clothes shopping and despite being a healthy size 12 am so self critical. I bought a coat, a dress and a top. I'm only keeping the top. Also got a full basket of N3xt clearance I probably won't check out. Popped back to the r@nge (still busy) and bought a sparkly silver candle plate for my new side table. That corner of the room does look pretty now.
30p Tilly tidy, spreadsheet updated and rough budget done for rest of the month.
Also bought hallowe'en sweets and a pumpkin. Perhaps the sweets at least were on my list???June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Good morning, it's a frosty one here which I wasn't expecting. Definitely feels a bit more wintry especailly with the darker evenings.
I have to work through the admin 'to do' list today. No plan to be anywhere so only need to leave the house to walk the puppy.
£7.10 overpayment this morning made up of a 60p tilly tidy and £6.50 current account cashback. This brought us close to knocking off another month and I could resist so overpaid another £20 to get us there. So far this month alone we have reduced the end date of M2 from Feb 41 to Oct 40. Would be nice to knock another month off using any extras in dh's pay tomorrow.
Small food shop yesterday so if we stay away from the supermarket today and tomorrow we will sneak in under £200 for the month :j

Some extra days off work have meant I've been productive. Yesterday I arranged new phone deal for dh and ordered a sim only deal ready for dd. I am tempted to go onto a sim only deal when my contract ends in January as my phone meets my needs and I am not interested in latest editions or spending a lot of money.
Rang energy company about our homecare as it's gone up from £19 to £24 a month. They did offer breakdown cover only for £15 but I'm wondering whether to just put that to one side and use a local company in the event of a breakdown. I also paid for end of term school cinema trip for the children so hopefully all school related expenses are done for now. Also opened a premium bonds account ready for a savings account that is maturing and another one opened this morning.
In mortgage news we have had a good month. Have somehow managed to overpay £534 off mortgage 2! :jI overpaid some extra money from dh pay this morning (£120) which left just £4 to knock off a month so an overpayment of £2.50 got us there. We started this month with an end date of Feb 41 and now it's Sept 40 on that mortgage. If we could knock 5 months off every month we would soon be mortgage free. M1 continues to run its course on the slightly higher interest rate. £150 also sent to christmas savings pot with present lists still needed from the children. I haven't started any shopping and it's almost November
Small food shop needed as we are running low on basics but will keep spends as close to £200 for the month as we can.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
