Just a suggestion - go to the podcasts section of earlytorise.com and listen to the latest one, number 074. I'm not a fan of podcasts but am in bham, so thought I'd listen to one off that site as I do enjoy the written articles. And I've listened to it twice! It may help.

Another thought - get off the gluten woman! You are sending your immune system into overdrive and your body is spending its energy on fighting inflammation. I assume you are not consuming sugar ...?

Hope you make time for your R+R this weekend x

Thanks Apple, I will look into it. I struggled for snacks yesterday to avoid gluten but just need to make sure I have plenty of fruit in and I will be fine. Didn't help that I was surrounded by homemade cake aswell but I did resist. This fatigue is not worth eating gluten for (if I do find that this has been the cause)

Kicking the gluten has made my fatigue vanish into thin air. I'm awake at 4.45 most mornings and asleep at around 10pm. I don't get that afternoon slump. When I was a similar age to you I ended up in hospital for test into my fatigue and constant swollen glands and high temperatures and no conclusion was found, not had a single issue with it since going gluten free.

I do appreciate it won't work for everyone but it now makes so much sense, my body was fighting so hard to combat the gluten.

That's really interesting pooky, and you do pack so much into a day too. I'm so glad being GF has made that difference to you. I can understand why gluten sensitivity can be missed ( had negative ceoliac screening ) and the symptoms can be attributed to other causes, but it is very frustrating. I have made a GF page in my bujo and will document my body's response and have also made a list of my symptoms. I have quite a few!

Unfortunately, dd's birthday party was called off due to awful weather. She dealt with it in a mature way though which surprised me as it was done very last minute. Will try and sort out an alternative soon.

I've decided to join the gym as have been for a free trial this morning and it has what I need and I felt brilliant coming from there. The children will also be able to join, and whilst they are already very active I think it will be good for them. They don't have swimming lessons now and it also has a pool which is fab. It will be paid for by my petrol savings!

Good morning! It seems particularly dark and quite cold here this morning. The seasons are definitely changing although they have forecast quite a good week.

Booked our first Christmas event at the weekend. It's to a winter woodland event about 35 minutes drive from here. It was a bit extravagant at £100 for the four of us but it should make some wonderful memories and as the children get bigger we will lose these opportunities.

Dh has been awarded a 6% payrise which is great. He does get a payrise most years so this is especially welcome and has been made as the company are performing so well. We will definitely be increasing his pension contributions and I also need to make a note of one of his other pension pots as I am trying to update our savings/investments monthly.

Off to get some steps in before work despite having mega doms from the gym!

Had to resist putting the heating on this morning. Feel okay now but really felt the chill when first getting up.

Daily clicks done so today's 50p earned whilst drinking my coffee. Accounts checked, final £250 paid off 0% credit card (avoiding another balance transfer) and made a 60p Tilly tidy to the mortgage.

Went to look round our local high school last night and I was very impressed. They have a new head and I'm actually excited to see if they achieve what his vision sets out. Dd only year 5 so we were just being prepared.

Planning to take thcome children to the gym for an hour straight from work to sign us all up. Am then hoping it will be a Renault thing where one or big of them come with me at the weekend (football matches permitting) and one evening after school. I don't mind extra evenings if they want to go for a swim etc as we can all be back home for 6pm and we have less activities in the week now.

Working closer to home and streamlining our lives is working out very well so far.

Right, time for coffee and steps!

Quick update from me as the end of the month quickly approaches. Another 85p Tilly tidy made today so need to update spreadsheet at some point tomorrow. Also need to double check accounts and send £300 regular mortgage overpayment. I left us a bit short last month and either paid something twice or messed up transferring the funds across.
Dh gets paid tomorrow and as per usual there are some errors with his pay. Hopefully this can be corrected tomorrow. We have re-booked a birthday party for dd, it will cost around £200 but it's a joint party with ds and they have similar friends so we do feel the expense is justified. It's also being paid for by dh overtime! Dd has spent some birthday money on football boots and a board game so a little balance there too.

18k spree hit today as haven't hit my 15k target everyday this week so trying to catch up a little to maximise my results. Am hoping that on top of two good weight sessions at the gym I'll make good progress this week.

One more working day then a relaxing weekend to look forward to. It would be fantastic if this lovely weather stuck around a few more days.

    Fuel £104.61
    Supermarket £132.80

First week of gluten free done, I am feeling less tired. Other symptoms also a little improved. Will trial another week. It has certainly helped with not eating biscuits, chocolate bars and cake!

15k steps hit most days, if I do 16.5k today and tomorrow I'll hit by weekly step goal and 15k average which is fine. Off to the gym in a bit, have a bit of an induction later but will do my workout and then ask anything I need to. I'm hoping staff may be on hand as I progress with weights to do form check and advise on lifting heavy safely.

Dh has been underpaid but that had been rectified, I don't understand how the computer system gets it wrong each month but it's all been approved now.

Sent another £200 to t3sco card this morning as it needs paying and I refuse to do a balance transfer! We are also using it to stooze as much as possible to offset any interest. I know that's not MSE but it will not be prioritised on a 0% card.

£1.01 overpaid to mortgage this morning.

Invitation sent for childrens' birthday party and lots of rsvp's back which is always helpful.

At this point we have a surplus in the food/fuel account so hopefully that will result in an overpayment just before payday (although this never seems to work in reality!)

Have a food weekend everyone, I'm hoping to get all my jobs/steps done early on in the day so I can have a catch up of your diaries later.

It's been a productive day. 1 hour of weighted in gym plus some running on treadmill. Bedding washed and line dried, lawns cut front and back and patio brushed. Dd went out to play with friends much of the day and ds was taken to our local town's home football match.

I did buy a newspaper as there was an offer for free bike helmets but they had all gone by the time I remembered about the voucher!

25p survey on y0ugov but I've also spent £55 on a chalkboard for the kitchen! I've wanted one for ages though and only a bespoke design would fit where I want it. We really are creating our home version of Center p@rcs!

  • Do keep on with the gf way - it can take several weeks to get it out of your system. When they test people for coeliac disease, they tell them to go back on to gluten for 6 weeks (if they've not been having it)!

Yestetday sounds like a lovely day!

I'm definitely going to keep it up Apple, don't miss it and don't require 'substitutes'. From what I've read you notice the symptoms from reintroduction if you have a gluten free trial. I expect it would make me feel so rotten if I did so, I would completely avoid it.

Been to the gym again, did upper body which I didn't enjoy as much as legs so will need to mix it up a bit I think. Also swam for 20 mins but could only use the small pool as needed to stay with ds as he's too young to be unsupervised, despite him being a competent swimmer. The children loved it though. Rest day tomorrow and will go back Tuesday. Only lost 0.3lb this week so some muscle must have been built to have also taken body fat measurements.

52p Tilly tidy sent, mortgage goes out tomorrow so good to sneak in another overpayment.

I'd like to think October is full of challenges and achievements. Will pop over to apple's diary to see what she's up to.

  • Apple is over here and will enlighten you...

October = get more primal; join the NST challenge (which I keep thinking of as the gobstopper challenge!); no exercise yet planned (due to sept's virus and food poisoning).

But I've pondered my numbers so they'll appear soon ish...

    Thanks Apple.

Mortgage payments have gone out and another £3.74 overpayment will take us into the next 1k so that should be achieved through tilly tidies.

I was going to send the £10 we made from selling a lamp today to the mortgage but the piano is being tuned tomorrow and as it's the first one for a while, the quote is currently flexible! Vangu@rd transfer is through but I managed to lock myself out of the account and can only unlock it in office hours so hopefully get chance to do it tomorrow.

Went to the gym for an hour after work today whilst the children were at piano so that it didn't impact on family time. Did a leg workout and increased all my weights, did a mix of machines and free weights so I'll find out the impact in the morning I suspect. I'm enjoying weights much more than cardio and am getting a chunk of steps done early in the morning.

Small food shop done to kick off the October spends.

Going to read for a bit before bed and find some chocolate to make sure I eat my remaining calories for the day.
