Sounds like you are having a very stressful time - I hate having builders in the house. Breathe deeply, it will all be worth it when it is done. XPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

Your house just doesn't feel like your own does it. Hopefully lots get done today whilst we are out. I'm working so the children are with my mum. Had electrician back to fit another socket but now tv guy has been we could really do with another one. That's stressing me out and I would be a hopeless project manager!
We went browsing for TV's yesterday and saw a few around £400. As we were walking out there was a great end of stock/ex display deal for just under £220. It was missing the remote but we can buy one for £15, I tried to get them to throw one in but they don't stock! I stood my ground as it was advertised at the price due to being end of line but when we enquired it was missing remote and a base (we don't need as wall mounting). I disagreed and said it didn't mention that on the reason for reduction! Anywasy, they gave us some freebies we probably won't use but can sell.
Checked accounts this morning and charity dd I changed has gone out of old account. Need to check new account to see what's going on. Passport photos done and forms signed so will get them posted tomorrow as just need to double check forms.
Work today, hoping to come home to a calm house free of builders!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Oh Cath I feel your pain - I hate having workmen in the house (even though I know most of them). It just doesn't feel like home does it. It will be lovely when it's all finished though and you've waited such a long time for it, so to finally have it finished will be fabulous.

It will be so worth it. Can't wait to be at the decorating/furnishing stage. We were assured it would be by the end of this week but plasterer not been yet! The delay did mean we could get an electrical job done after an oversight by us as and the tradesman! Dreading that bill. He's been here 3 times already! Concrete went in for footings for extension though. That part is progressing quicker than the internal works!
Day off today, need to get passport forms ready to post and sort out payment. Want to check accounts as hoping to pay for TV out of current account rather than extension fund. Have some spare cash as changing piano tutors for dd which actually works out a lot cheaper. Were moving from group tuition to individual so be interesting to see how she progresses. She's looking forward to being the only student in the class!

Thanks, we do have some of those so might use them instead.
Day off today and although I got through my admin 'to do' list i don't feel at all productive. Not feeling great and I'm hoping it's due to my iron levels. Would be nice if they started to climb a bit quicker!
Ordered part for new TV and managed to go through tcb, shame that didn't offset the £5+ delivery charge! Dh has paid for that though.
Plasterer coming tomorrow, I hope the work is only a days worth. I'm not stressed out about the house being upside down but I would prefer for order to be restored!
Small top up shop needed tomorrow, this includes a bottle of wine!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Morning!
Just a quick update from me. £7.25 spent yesterday on post in passport forms. I also need to find the £237 to pay for them! THIS is why it has taken us so long to book a holiday abroad. Resisted 'take away' lunch that colleagues were having. It's second nature for me to take lunch everyday, I can't imagine spending £3+ on lunch each day.
Plasterers were here yesterday but do need to come back today. We will go out this morning to a local farm that has Hallowe'en events. We've driven past it many times but good old social media has let us know about in the event.
I've decided to invest in myself in terms of self development. I have a few friends involved in some network marketing who are great at sharing positivity! I've started my Christmas list and 'the secret' by Rhonda Byrne is there. Has anyone read it?
Can hear dd getting up. She has finally mastered sleeping in a little. Now if only ds could do the same!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Ooh yes, I've read it - and used it!
Compete life changer - moved to a much happier location with Mr Merle in his dream job; I got a dream job with amazing people which was more than double my salary at my last place; numerous problems (or problem people) miraculously shifted and cured themselves pretty much overnight, I've had holidays/visits to places I've always wanted to go; received tickets to a Kate Bush gig on my birthday. And so much more! I truly recommend dipping back into it constantly to keep yourself on track.
And definitely act as if whatever you desire is happening i.e. I started packing up the house and organising for moving while Mr M was waiting to hear about his new joba penny picker upper.
