MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Thanks everyone. It was actually a bit of a shock seeing the word 'Granted'. Will get in touch with architects next week to get next stage of plans drawn up. Its all really happening now.
Nsd (not unusual for us) and small food shop planned for tomorrow. I also need to cancel the Mr s delivery pass they have emailed me about. Dh will also be purchasing wine tomorrow!
Some careful money shuffling will be required over the weekend. Payday can't come soon enough even though I need to pay another £550 off next years holiday! Cancelled childcare vouchers will definitely assist with this, can't believe the expensive nursery days are almost behind us!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Yaaaay fantastic news about planning permission. :j
I remember the days of paying childcare, I dread to think how much was paid over the years.0 -
I count my lucky stars every month that we've managed (so far) to avoid the childcare costs with family grandma, nanny and 2 flexible jobs! Speaking to friends it really is like a 2nd mortgage, so i empathise with your pain!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Thanks everyone, we chatted about the extension plans over a celebratory glass of wine or two last night
Re childcare, its been 7 long years and paying full time fees for 2 years was soul destroying! Am determined to put the money to good use though as it literally has been like a second mortgage.
Have been awake since just after 4am as dd woke me and I couldn't get back to sleep. Trying to see the positives in this so have organised some work related stuff, mopped utility and got to see the sun come up with a cup of coffee. This also means I have time to go for a run before having my hair done today so will go as soon as the rest of the house wakes up!
50p on y0ugov this morning. £8 until payout.
Food spends update as almost halfway through the month.
May
Food. £129.12
Petrol £140.01
I honestly don't know how our food spends are so low! We are not missing out on anything!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I'm up early too - keep waking up at 5. Our birds are incredibly noisy at the moment !
I am going to go for a run to use the time productively. Only trouble is I will probably need a nap this afternoon:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
:T awesome news re: planning - congratulations Cath!
Must be the day for being woken up early as I was woken up by next doors screaming kids and a car alarm over the road. I decided to get up too and make the most of the time
Have a lovely weekend

Quick update. Just amended food spends as realised I'd forgotten to take wine and bleach off the total. I am literally just tracking food.
Have spent some time working out budgets for next couple of months. Am tring to make sure we have as much cash as possible towards architects bill but holiday also needs paying for. I think some temporary, organised stoozing needs to take place.
Managed a fairly quick paced 4 mile run this morning followed by an abs workout. Am a bit tired this afternoon though so think my early start is catching up with me. Am trying to ignore the sore throat I have in the hope it doesn't turn into a horrible virus that has been going around.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
