Happy new year everyone, thanks for your lovely posts. Gathering was a success but I realised when I woke up this morning I had drunk far too much and have spent the day doing very little and feeling rough! I am seriously contemplating doing dry January. First fzzy Friday is out of the way anyway! :rotfl:

Hoping to have a fab weekend before the routine of school and fulltime work begins again. Sarahevie we are starting the ball rolling with architects, I know we have only been on market 4 months but have had 6 viewings. Latest one was a few days before Christmas. The architect is coming this week so can hopefully discuss plans and get design done. We will leave house on market until after Easter and if we sell just cut our losses with architect fees. As soon as we take it off the market I would like us to be in the position to start the build. I need to stop reading other forums though as I am stressing myself out re: planning permission. I am a 'what if?' Person so easily worry.

Will find food spend totals and update as dh did a shop yesterday for parry items. We have so much alcohol leftover so shouldn't spend money on that for a while. Think I might try for £200 grocery spends this month especially as I am going to try and be more organised nd total non- grocery supermarket spends separately.

My car is going to the garage on Monday as it seems to be overheating. Definitely not something to ignore so it isn't going anywhere until then!

Still working on health, wealth and happiness goals. The children enjoyed being asked and inputted well.

A very quiet evening planned, I can't wait to go to sleep!

Food and petrol spends for the month came in under budget :j

    Food £250
    Petrol £143

I am delighted how low spend our Christmas was. We didn't compromise on anything we wanted and still have leftover food/ biscuits/chocolates/ alcohol!

Plan to start using nutribullet tomorrow too so might spend a bit stocking up on nuts etc. Hoping I can source the superfoods at @ldi or Mr S.

  • Happy New Year CathT and family.

Good luck with the nutribullet, we went through a stage of using our smoothie maker almost everyday but it fizzled out after a few months. Hope you keep it up better than me.

Well done on being under £100k. And fab that you had friends over. I need to take a leaf out of your book and I really want to be more social this year that I have even looked on meetup. I just struggle around the kids being on my own.

    Morning all.

Norfolk dream, socialising is something that has been way down our list of priorities but I am hoping that now everyone's children are a bit older that childcare is easier and we can get together more often. Even if that means in our house as we struggle for babysitters!

Yesterday was such a wasted day, I felt OK from about 4pm!! I had a mammoth lay in until 8:30 today too. Not a great deal planned today but it is our last day all together before the madness starts up again.

Dd has 2 birthday parties this weekend so I need to stock up on cheap birthday cards. I've also made a list of nutribullet ingredients (edging very slightly closer to using it!!) :rotfl:
A list of 9 ingredients can be mixed and matched to make 3 different drinks. Ingredients don't seem to be too exotic so will source as cheaply as possible.

Current account checked and looking OK, ISA's have dropped so pretty much a standard day in our financial world!

  • 8.30 is not a lie in! But I guess if you have small children it is. I set my alarm for 10am :o as I could sleep all morning! My teens are still asleep in bed, wont see DD til about 12.

We used to put kale or spinach in our smoothies and you couldnt taste it but sent the drink green. I used to freeze it in batches.

I clearly get up too early!

Food shop done, spent loads already but have got lots of fruit, veg and nuts to blitz. Managed to get 2 birthday gifts at good prices. Was tempted to stock up by didn't have the motivation!

First mix OK but a bit watery. Used spinach, strawberries, blueberries and banana. Will just increase quantities of fruit next time. It's more difficult to be healthy when trying to use up the food to save money. Dh has made meatballs and lasagne which should feed us for a couple of days.

Feel I should be productive but instead am going to read my book and encourage dd to read hers too.

    Food spends £53.69

  • Happy New Year CathT. I hope 2016 is a good one for you and your family. :) I've been making green smoothies for a while now, my favourite is half a banana, half an apple, tsp peanut butter, tsp honey, tsp cocoa powder/cacao, green cabbage/kale, splash of water and milk. It's yummy - reminds me of a healthy b@ileys. ;)

Hi mg, that sounbds like one to try. I have just had a mix of spring greens, banana, pear and red grapes and walnuts. Feel like it has woken me enough to not rush into making a morning coffee. I really want to cut down on caffeine so this will definitely help. I don't enjoy decaff so can't see me giving it up completely but I definitely need to be more mindful and not make a coffee because I am thirsty. Bonus is that dh is drinking them too as he doesn't particularly enjoy fruit and veg.

Meter readings submitted yesterday, will log in again to check usage. Our dd was increased recently but I am hoping the mild weather and low usage will mean we can reduce it again

Washing moved around on radiators. In an effort to redeem myself after my hangover I changed all the bedding yesterday. Have lots to dry but we will manage without a TD.

I also forced myself out for a run yesterday, did 5.5 miles in just under an hour. Delighted with this as ran once in November and once in December!

Today I need to check accounts, meal plan and get ready for the week ahead. 2015 achievements and 2016 goals still not finished!
