Hi Lula, I have £500 ready to invest but from what I can see I can only invest that in one fund. I was hoping to set up a dd soi could split between more funds and then cancel that at a later date as not in a position to invest £50 a month. Just couldn't see how to set up a dd. Just wondering if its due to there already being funds that need investing! I will give them a ring if they are still open when I finish work tomorrow.
I think I need to buy the Tim Hale book!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Did you do it with Charles Stanley or another provider? The DD looked confusing, I'm just going on and using my debit card each pay day. The money then shows instantly in the CD account.... You can then either go in and buy funds as and when or arrange a monthly thing so that it buys the funds automatically... Think it's a £50 min per fund once up and running. £500 from the outset is a bit step, especially if you're just getting started with it. We've paid in to the boys for years and years, so thankfully we were able to choose a couple of funds. Although, I'm not sure any expertise went in to it... I picked some that Ed had mentioned (googled and did some research first) and then picked a few others from some stuff I read. A bit scary really, but the performances over the years seemed to be sound. Famous last words... Quickly touching wood!!0

Thanks Helen, you too
Yes it is Charles stanley, I have taken the plunge and invested the money today. Then as I invest more I will just have to choose an alternative fund. Dd has savings elsewhere I will invest when the term comes to an end. I will look again once investment gone through, my isa seemed much more straightforward (although I did have Ed on hand to answer my rookie questions!)
CB has credited account so half sent to bills account, not completely sure I needed to do this but if there is surplus at the end of the month I can shuffle it around.
60p Tilly tidy made and balance transfer done.
Off to work today, only working 2 days this week
After reading dfod's thread and seeing some goals, was reminded of another mfw (radish or earthgirl?) Who listed them as health, wealth and happiness. I am going to do this as it addresses key areas and ensures balance. The last few months have been difficult for me so keen to address this.
Looking forward to getting my nutribullet later, not that I have any healthy ingredients to blitz up!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Another 98p Tilly tidy made and spends updated as spent £7 on alcohol for NYE today. We have spent less than £250 on food this month which is really pleasing for December!
Came home to see DH had collected my nutribulletI have written down a few recipes and will stock up on some nuts and seeds. Our diets should definitely become more nutritious and I think the children will enjoy them too.
The rest of December seems to be whizzing by and we still haven't set any goals! It may have to be done new years day at this rate.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Happy NYE and here's to a productive 2016!
Our WIOTW figure has come in at £99,442 which means we hit our goal of sub £100k :j
We have a few friends coming round this evening so there is some last minute prep to do. It would be easier not to bother but we hardly ever socialise!
No money to Tilly tidy but have done my own tidy up of the accounts to maximise savings and encourage a frugal start to the new year. I am not expecting the money to last but I will stretch it out as long as I can!
Have a big to do list!
Tidy and clean kirchen-diner
Clean bathrooms
Hoover and mop floors
Put washing away
Move huge pile of shoes
Check food and drink for tonight
Read and submit Meter readings
Right, I had best make a start. Dh started work at 2am so will be home soon in need of a nap!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Well done, great to be achieving your goals.
Any ideas about the house buying/extending? It seems to keep swinging one way and then the other? It's tricky.
