If you OP that amount from now on then yes those 4 months will stay off. There is a question people always ask, is it better to reduce the term physically or just keep OPing knowing that you will finish it off early with the OPs.

ie) reduce you term with the bank so your payments will definitely be the same you are paying this month or leave the term as it is and just pay the extra and let it roll on.

I am of the first option as mentally I like to see on my statement that I have 10.4 years left. I keep jigging the payments to see if I can get it down further by upping my MPs. I currently pay £696. If I change the SO to £720 it would take off another 4 months off the total but I have to be careful for when the interest rates go up.

Was telling DH i think i've knocked 4 months off the mortgage already and he seemed impressed! He said if he gets his bonus from work I can have half for the mortgage - I like his thinking!

Was nice to have him home at 7:30 this evening, I have warned him not to work a minute over 48 hours!

Hid boss is trying to do him out of extra days off after christmas. As the mon and tues are bank hols and he hasn't already taken these as holidays he told his boss he would be entitled to them as extra days off or to have the 2 days hol at a later date. Boss disagrees completely and is trying to get out of it! I would feel so exploited if i was my DH.

Glad hubby is on board :)
I've been lucky that way with the BH as I have mondays off usually so I have another day off for it instead. I am off from 17th til Jan 6th. Quite lucky cos I have no childcare and holiday clubs arent open. I dont know how I would do it otherwise.

  • Your OH sounds sensible enough to stand his ground with his boss. My hubby wanted the whole of Christmas to New year off but didn't save enough holiday. He changed jobs in May and forgot he has less holiday in this job.

I don't think I could stand everyone at home for a fortnight though! I like my house quiet.

Tax credits just confuse me. I dread to think what will happen with CB. I claim for both my boys but OH is a higher rate tax payer so I will lose it BUT DS1 isn't OH's and OH has no parental responsibility for him legally so how does that work.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Cath I used to get that hypoglycaemia thing too- when I was young and naughty and a chocoholic I went through a phase where I ate about 400g of dairy milk every morning before about 10am I used to get dizzy after about 30mins and I could never work it out so I just kept eating! Once I checked my blood glucose and it was about 1.2 or something, it did concern me and I was worried I'd 'exhaust' my pancreas and become diabetic, I still like choc but I don't eat much now. Not suggesting for a sec you would ever pig out like me (hehe) but I did find eventually after I switched to eating better things evened out and I rarely get it now. I hope it improves soon :)

Am going on thursday afternoon. Had another episode in work about 45 minutes after break.

Jo, 1.2!! I am worried because mine is 3.4 but I do feel dreadful!

Have posted an ebay parcel on the way home from work. Couple of Lovefilm dvds have arrived so we will have to try and watch them before our subscription ends!I tried to cancel it last night but it asked me to leave my name and number which I thought was odd so I will try ringing them back.

Sent a £25 OP as had TC and CB paid into account. Can probably send more but don't want to leave ourselves short until a bit nearer payday.

Just press the pink & orange button next to the Quote button - you can quote up to 3, so press that button on the ones you want to quote then press Post Reply :)

Right, giving up on quoting - will have to continue wth less sophisticated thank yous! Not had enough coffee to function properly yet!

Can't believe how dim I have been, was playing with spreadsheet (as you do) and realised I have had the wrong interest rate in it all the time! I am 2.69 above base and thought I was on 3.09 when it is obviously 3.19  That means I have only knocked 3 months off, not 4.

Good news though, 2 bank credits (assuming paypal and amazon) coming in just short of £30 so rounded that up to £30 and sent another £30 as I am returning my boots today. Not worn them yet as my feet slide around terribly inside them! Also realised car insurance DD won't go out this month as I paid in full so topped it up to £75. That means have overpaid £100 in 2 days! :j
I find if you keep chipping away at it you can OP really good amounts without noticing the difference so much. Also realised I still have the money in my purse from last week that I took out for the builder and he didn't charge. Not sure when payday is for each of us (prob brought forward for xmas) but if it is next week I can definitely send another lovely OP!

Still need money off DM for car (which DD thinks santa is not bringing, DH has told her she is having socks because she is not sleeping:() Think I will keep that to one side to pay for our christmas lunch though.
