Thank you Cel, quite a lot has changed in the 5 years since I started my diary. Can't believe I've been here that long! Thank you for popping in and reading, good luck on your MF journey, have found your diary :)

Good news Cath, I know I'm being nosey but are you consolidating the ccs as you need to for affordability instead of leaving them at 0% ? Ive left our loan running at a higher rate than prioritise it over the mortgage, so no judgement btw :o

Hi Newgirly, our current situation is mortgage with small OP built in and we pay at least £350 a month off the cc. I have 3 on o% from financing the work done to the house. These will take around 3 years to pay off. If I remortgage I can pay them off and have £25k for extension and repayment will be the same as what we pay for mortgage and cc now.

I can also afford to OP this as have never included DH payrise in budget, he works regualr OT, our nursery bills end very soon, I have had a payrise and due another in November.

I think it is just so we can have it done asap. The original plan was wait until cards cleared then borrow extension money. I don't like the thought of adding to mortgage but overall WIOTW figure would be the same. Main thing is, we can reduce the term slightly doing this and still OP.

Could be MF in 10 years even with the house we want. If we moved and increased mortgage by 60-70k we would have no option but to increase the term.

What a shame these houses we buy don't remain suitable for our needs and growing families :)

Had a super busy day bu thankfully it hasn't whizzed by too quickly.

DH loved his gifts this morning, no money spent. I did some painting with DS, DD wrote him a poem which she turned into a song and the children drew various pictures. DH had the lay in which was probably the most appreciated thing. :rotfl:

I took DD out for a hot chocolate earlier, she is struggling with sibling jealousy and I wanted to reward some good behaviour. Also bought her a new storage box for her bedroom so £4 spent. There is very little room to play in there (i.e. she has to sit on her bed) and she is reluctant to go there even when her younger brother is annoying her. She has filled the box with things to entertain her for when she spends time in her room. I am hoping this will bring more harmony to the weekends!

I had no wine again last night and DH had a glass to finish off the bottle. This will help to reduce our grocery spends. I fell asleep watching Sherlock last night so it is pointless me indulging on a Saturday. I managed to get out for a 10km run aswell for the first time in ages so happy about that. :j

    Money news?

Still have a few pounds of my £15 that needs to last until Tuesday.
I plan to pay £500 off the cc by Friday! :D

Well done on the 10k run, the most I can manage at the moment is 5k, and on the no wine. Not managing that one here either :)
  • Fantastic news on the 10k:T I haven't been running for ages but have been busy shredding and cycling, so not a total couch potato.

5k is great Mrs E, shorter runs are great for fitness.

Shred is fab MG. I used to manage it 3 times a week but really struggling to be bothered to do it lately, hence fitness has dropped. What level do you do? I have fallen out of love with level 3 so sticking with 2!

Thanks Al, still have a few glasses on a Friday but glad we don't bother with it on a Saturday now. This could see revised wine costs of £6 a week!

Absolutely Newgirly, the though of moving fills me with dread. We came close a few times so there must be something in the universe telling me this IS the house for us, just with some alterations.

Raining here this morning so I am glad I pushed myself to mow the lawns after dinner. I glanced in the house as I was doing it and DH was hoovering. Bit of a role reversal there.

Food shop planned for later, we only need a top-up shop and coffee, toilet rolls etc but I have a £7.50 voucher which expires on Weds so as I am off today am going to do it. The idea is to get the freezer and cupboards stocked up a bit while we have the vouchers. I definitely want to spend less in July on food than I have this month.

Payday tomorrow and there is still money in the current account. I really want to pay it off the cc but will wait until tomorrow when I can make a bigger payment. Have a couple of cc I want to clear this [STRIKE]month[/STRIKE] week as per the mini challenge :j
