Quick update as checked online banking as wasn't sure of food spends.
Total so far for November £73.31.
This does include 12 bottles of wine bought on offer so should save us money throughout the month. We are very well stocked and probably should batch cook and meal plan now!
First day in new job today too!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
First day went well and small money saving activities continue! Sold a bundle of clothes which DH posted yesterday. NSD other than that. Found out I get a pay rise in April whereas I thought I would have to wait until November next year!
Still undecided over CC balance transfer, current offer finishes in March anyway and balance won't be cleared. Have to have another look after work this evening. champiions league football on so doubt DH will have much input!
Ended up with a terrible headache yesterday from not eating enough in the day, will not be making that mistake today!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I don't seem to have enough hours in the day. Been a strange week really and feel like we are just living for the weekends unfortunately. Weekdays are just so rushed but I guess as time goes on we will get into more of a routine. At the moment I get home just before smallest goes to bed.
Payday for DH tomorrow and I think I have a small amount in PayPal from clothes sale. Still undecided about cc transfer but it's all around saving a small amont on transfer fee which in the grand scheme of things is not a lot. £30 petrol spends yesterday as had a big commute yesterday as went on some training which was fab.
Food spends should remain low this week as we are well stocked up on most things. Might challenge myself to £10-15? Am going to track spends for November so a mini challenge might keep the momentum going!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

The dark nights make things seem so much worse in regards to quality time after working hours...... I love the dark nights for the first few months but once Christmas has passed it all becomes a bit tedious and depressing.
Hope you're OK and enjoying the new job.0 -

You're quite right, I've also found it difficult to switch off when I am at home! Need to rectify that.lulabelle1 wrote: »The dark nights make things seem so much worse in regards to quality time after working hours...... Absolutely, I used to finish work and come home to the children playing in the garden. We don't have ur evening meal together anymore as I am home too late. I am wondering if DH gave them a snack after school they could last a bit longer before eating. I am home by 5:30 and miss that family time.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Ok, update after a busy weekend! First stop Saturday was to outlet village for shoes. £41 later dd has new school shoes (last ones bought last April) and DS has shoes. He is catching up with dd, he has just turned 3 and a size 10!!
We then went on a fab woodland walk which the children loved. I was shocked at paying £3.40 for 2 cupcakes they didn't particularly enjoy though!
Didn't stuck to food budget, spent £21. Lots of petrol used too so I will be filling up again midweek. I predict my overdraft increasing!!
Have done the balance transfer so funds should be in account tomorrow.
Ending on a good note, house is clean and tidy. It is how I would like it to look at the start of my weekend!
Have persuaded DH that each evening when children in bed we do 15 minutes of de-cluttering. Coffee table drawers attacked this evening, half a bin bag filled and a few items found for charity shop.
Tomorrow might have to be a messy corner of the playroom. It is fast becoming a long narrow room that doesn't know what it's purpose is!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Food spends stand at £74.50 and we should survive until the weekend!
Bit of a speedy day yesterday, booked a few Christmas events but it is something I have wanted to do for ages and the expense put me off. It's a local Santa train that is magical!
Also ordered a few Christmas gifts including some fr0zen dolls which the children will love and were in a lightning sale on amaz0n so a bargain!
Also did my first Tilly tidy of 97p but sent to 0% credit card.
Be back later to catch up on diaries!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
98p Tilly tidy sent to 0% card. I do love being back in the black! :j
Food spends have remained manageable, probably as I don't get home in time to eat with the family so eat very little in the evening! Running total for November is £104.35 and we have plenty of wine!
Petrol spends seem to be spiralling due to my new commute. Worked out today I used roughly a gallon so about £5 a day. Not a fortune but I am used to working really close to home!
Had a few parcels arrive too and some of the Christmas gifts look fab! Really pleased with them all. Also ordered a handmade plate for Christmas eve for santa's snacks and I love it! I really need to sort out my stash of Christmas stuff as have another lot of crafty stuff due to be ready early December. My house is going to look so pretty!
Am looking forward to a quiet weekend with minimal petrol use! dd wants an extra tennis session on Saturday and we have vouchers from her birthday so that's free and DH plans to take DS out.
I am having a really good week in the new job and ignoring the thoughts of self doubt! Am ready for a glass of wine or 3 tomorrow evening :beer:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
