Spent another £14 in Mr S earlier but this did include hair bobbles and a new Summer school dress for dd which actually only scanned at £2.50 when it was priced at £5! Will pop for another one tomorro.
Need to get particularly inventive with meals as the butcher's delivery last week has gone in the freezer and was BBQ focused. We have lots of chicken drumsticks so could strip and do stir fry? Also asked for pork steaks to be substituted for chicken which they weren't so might make pork steaks with pepper sauce? Even 'top up' shops don't seem to come cheap though!
Had an unexpected expense today. Our french doors have been dodgy for a while and dfificult to close/lock. I noticed this morning the lock had gone completely and was insecure. Know a good local 'window fitter/repair guy' though who replaced the locking mechanism but it set us back £120. Guess it's a lot cheaper than a new door though which we had previously been quoted for. Downside is I am well into my overdraft now and always find it a struggle to get out of
.
Must finish on a positive? It's nearly my weekend as I don't work on Fridays at the moment and dd has done brilliantly with her after school activities this week.

Mine are doing surprisingly well! Not sure they will ever get to the top of the canes though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Right, have a 'day off' and quite a bit to do.
Car going to the garage this morning as it failed its MOT so having jobs done and retest. It does mean that DS gets to go on a bus which he is really excited about!
Also have workman coming to look at awful job he did for us. I don't actually think he will turn up and certainly won't put the job right which will result to a call to trading standards and small claims court.
Could also do with catching up on coursework but that will have to wait until DH finishes work.
Payday for DH today but no spare funds to pay off CC/save so need to do a super frugal food shop armed with my list! It's not too bad though as wine is on the list :beer:June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Ok, not a bad day yesterday. Shoddy work was repaired and right now looks ok, will give it time though to look as bad as before!
Car costs were £139, that was parts, mot and labour so not terribly expensive but the parts were really cheap and the mechanic said we were unlucky they had gone as usually they are ok but perhaps a stone had caused it. To be fair, we paid £5k for a car that was 2 years old 8.5 years ago and it's serving us well.
Frugal meal plan and food shop didn't work out, between Al*i and Mr S spent £70  that did include £5 on a school dress (back up to full price), weekend wine and a card and fizz for friends who have just bought their first house. Should I mention overpayments when we call round
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, mine will be a mix of tennis and swimming for dd, assignments, presentations and family time dodging the forecast rain showers!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Grr to the cowboy workman.0

Thought I'd pop in and say Hi after you visited my diary - so Hi
Glad the workman sorted it, hopefully it stays fixed
Take the dress back, if you didn't really need it and you were only getting it because yesterdays for 2.50 - £5 less in your OD
All the best with the study, I remember how hard it was doing my professional exams while working full time and planning a wedding, no way I could have done it with a young family I take my hat off to you.0 -
Thanks Welsh lassie, I am almost finished now! :j
Alchemilla, this guy keeps changing his company name, not a good sign really. Had a cowboy roofer once who I later found had done that!
Well, another garden job done |(different professional!) which looks fab and it's now had its landscaping done. Fence panels just need painting, are rollers the best (only 6 panels) and the decking needs staining.
In money news - we don't have any! Really need to do an new SOA as childcare costs increasing again the next 3 months. Tax credits are negligible which with childcare alone makes us £300 a month worse off.
Also need to lose weight, i was managing it nicely with b/f! However, stress eating and no time or free mental capacity to exercise has piled on the pounds.
Am sure there were some positives in this post....might have missed them though!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
We had one of those roofers a few years ago. Positives in your post - your garden job looking fab.0

Hi cath, I'm feeling the same with losing weight at the moment - not been to the gym for a couple of weeks and eating too much when tired
Anyway hope you are ok and have a great weekendMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Will be so happy when I can stop stress eating!
Busy day today, updated sig as somehow it is June! Doesn't 'C' planning start in July? Despite all our expenses our WIOTW figure has reduced by over £600 this month and we have funded some work at home as well as the constant challenge of awful nursery fees!
Today will be a mixture of swimming lessons, family time and a bit of revision. I am almost done and can't wait to have more free time to do nice things!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
