Well done Cath that's fab!!
Glad the end of the studies are in sight for you too0 -
DH's weekly pay in including a little overtime to have sent him half of that. It's my birthday Monday so it's in my best interests to top up his account
Have paid another £40 off the big CC as seem to have a bit to spare after all expenses this week. Big food shop done and having a 'meat man' delivery later so that's another £20 but there is loads!
Might attempt a BBQ if weather good.
What are people's thoughts on asking friends/family to 'bring a dish' to a BBQ? I know personally I would happily do it if invited somewhere as realise they can be expensive to host.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi cath, I think most people ask what they can bring anyway so its fine. Not sure I'd be brave enough to ask them to bring a dish if they hadn't offered but i think most people offer , have a good BBQMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Thanks NewGirly, despite buying the meat for it I don't think it will go ahead so will freeze and save for a later, sunnier day.
Had a fab day today, lovely family day out and enrolled dd onto swimming lessons but need to pay £54 tomorrow which is not in my budget! Will be money well spent though as it's an important skill she needs to learn.
Balanced this out with some batch cooking and hopefully have a low spend day tomorrow!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Thank you, this ones at Masters level too, the thought of completing a dissertation after it isn't too appealing. Think I am done with academia after this
Today's plan is
1) swimming
2) walk round the local mere afterwards
3) tidy and deep clean kitchen diner
4) complete presentation and assignmentJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Morning CathT, I'm sure people would be more than happy to bring a dish and with a young family, it also makes others feel good to be able to help - win win
How's the veg growing going?

Morning Cath, good luck on the dissertation, not so long to go now. To do it with a young family is a huge achievement, doing it without one nearly killed me!
I am looking at your plans for paying off the odds and sods bit by bit. I think I will be back to Ebaying next week so that is a good starting point.0 -

Hi Tilly, always like a 'win win' situation.Veg growing going okay, have had to transfer everything from beds to pots though while we are waiting to have work done on the garden. I had relocated raised beds from patio to border and had lots of weeds etc coming through. Am currently growing strawberries, raspberries, rocket, tomatoes, dill, sage and rosemary. Have also planted leeks and cabbage seeds so hopefully can get them in bed when they sprout.
Am a little bit obsessed with my sweet peas this year, am determined to get them to grow well! I love bringing cuttings inside.
Food shop wise have only bought a few bits since big shop so with some careful planning will only need a £20-£30 shop this week? Well, that's the plan anyway!tootallulah wrote: »Morning Cath, good luck on the dissertation, not so long to go now. Thanks tootallulah, it's difficult to keep up the momentum but the little bits do make a difference.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
