Thanks everyone, hope you all had good saturday evenings.

Having a good day today, think I am definitely winning DH over to the MFW world. He mentionned his weekly hours are being increased from 45 to 48  so i worked out how this impacts on his hourly rate (he's salaried) and to be fair it appeared quite poor. I said 'this is why i'm doing all this so you can work part time' and he seemed very keen! :j I had been listing items on Amazon and Ebay (4 on each) and next thing I know he is giving me more items to sell!

Have done some quick figures, and if interest rates stay at 0.5% (please!!) our end of 2011 balance would be 112,594 without OP so I want to get that down to <110,000.

Also asked him if we can just eat stew for a while on the assumption that we will eat very well in December!! He seemed to agree :rotfl:

Isn't Amazon a wonderful thing! One item sold within an hour and another that evening! Have 10 watchers on one of my ebay items and also hopeful the other items will sell fairly well! Need to post those later and bank musicmagpie cheque so that should result in a £25ish OP when cleared.
Have just realised i need to ring my car insurance about my new quote, DH got 3 points a few months ago and although he told his we didn't tell mine and i have only just realised! That will probably send the quote up and i will be left searching again. Still need to sort out quotes for his so that is on the to do list for today.

Well done on amazon. I have never used amazon for selling. Is it straight forward? What are the fees like?

Not good that dh has to work extra for no gain! Can they do that?

Pam, Amazon is so easy to use - if there is a barcode number you can use it is sooooo easy to list. I have sold a few things very quickly on there and much prefer it to ebay. There is a thread about Amazon on here and i thought i would need to use it a lot but haven't as it is so straightforward. Me too Yukkibear, clearing unwanted items and making money - i love it! :D

Nothing done off list today, took DD to soft play with a friend and on the way back accidentally viewed a show home and fell in love with it! It is perfect and i think there is a good chance we will end up buying it. I can't cope with the whole moving process though! However we could need to borrow an additional ~£30k but there is a lot of money that needs spending here: boiler, kitchen, replace garage roof etc. Obviously don't want to increase mortgage but it really is a beautiful home. Only downside is that is isn't in a catchment area of the school i want but i believe that doesn't matter anymore, not sure if anyone can clarify this.

Well, DH seems very keen on the idea of buying the house. Showed him some pictures and the brochure and i think we will go and see it again tomorrow. I have also done some sums in case it does happen. We have toyed with the idea of moving before but even by spending 20-30k here this house wouldn't reach the standard of a new build.

Anyway, current mortgage will be 117,000 Jan with exactly 19 years left. Repayment is £690 and we always overpay. If we were to move new mortgage would be approx 142,000 (less if i could add fees etc to a 0% card - not sure what incentives there are on the new build and there is room for negotiation on sale price so could differ from this).

I have worked out 142,000 over 19 years is approx £840 (could definitely cope with that)
back over 25 years is approx £690 (less than we pay now!)

so the option could be sto start with figure between those 2 and overpay. Would need to do a new SOA but I have a habit of getting ahead of myself. DD is nursery for a few hours so I am going to have a mega declutter of house - it isn't bad but not ready for estate agent opinion! However, we may possibly have some interest in house but would need to wait and see!

£35 OP sent yesterday, aiming to send another £170 today as I have been paid. Can send more when receive Amazon and Ebay money.

Anyone else think this month is going slow?

I'm not sure on catchment areas any more to be honest. You could ask your local council education department to be sure. Part of me would love to move house, but part of me loves what we have here.

I'm torn, I love the area we live in - not far from my mum, great schools, fab road network links. New house is only about 3 miles away so it's not a drastic move. It is closer to a couple of villages so I guess there is a possibility of small schools there and there is a really good secondary school that isn't far. Only thing that lets this house down is the need for new boiler, kitchen etc and the small 3rd bedroom. I do think the new house is a bargain too - it is the ex show home.

Ah well, back to the matter in hand and overpaying! going to list more items on ebay this morning if I can bring myself to sort through DD toys. Problem is she seems to play with everything at some point - surely not, there is loads!!
Paid CC bill, estimated 200 and was only 180 so that's a little bonus! Won't overpay that as I am already leaving things a bit tight this month. Going to make a chicken casserole later and hope it feeds us for a week! If only we didn't have to buy food!

Good for you on the ebay listings. I still have loads to put on, nothing high value though. I need to clear DD2's toys and like you say she seems to play with most things, but I do think they wont miss it for long.
