You work in the NHS cath right? When i was on maternity leave it was full pay for 8 weeks, half pay plus SMP for 18 weeks and SMP only for 13 weeks

Yes I do. I think it works out (between SMP and OMP) full pay for 3 months, 90% for 3 months and SMP for 3 months but I have opted to be paid equally over the 9 g months. Last 2 pay packets been abysmal and apparantly because of the way I am being paid they don't start paying SMP until week 9 so I have only been receiving OMP.

Roll on payday! Hope i'm not in for another shock!

  • Brodie is right, they are supposed to write to you with a pay breakdown before mat leave.

  • Ah cath i see what you mean now...i think you actually told me this before...we wernt allowed to do this and it meant the last 3 months pay were awful for me as it was only SMP
SMP per month is roughly £530 so you should have this in your next paypacket aswell as the same amount of OMP you have been getting in previous months (if it is spread equally) minus a bit for the tax man of course :D

I havent worked in NHS but though it was pretty compulsory for your employer to give you a breakdown of your mat pay, maybe contact HR?

When i had youngest i worked for a pretty big company and as soon as i announced pregnancy and my dates were given to HR they sent me an estimate by e-mail, then this was confirmed in writing when i got to 30 weeks.

Thanks both. I had no idea they were supposed to do this. No one has ever mentioned it. I would be tempted to ring payroll to request a breakdown but they're not that helpful when you ring! I would assume that November pay sets the standard for the rest but it would be nice to be sure.

  • I would ring personnel and say "I had my baby on x date and I haven't been told what maternity pay I'm entitled to yet - is that right?" and watch sparks fly.

Thank you. Things were that bad last month I had a tax rebate! :rotfl:

So tempting and I'm well within my rights to. Sparks will definitely fly though if I don't get told of job opportunities/increased hours etc in my current dept!

A rather uneventful day today. DH at work all day but popped out to see my dad who I don't get to see much so that was nice.
DD's behaviour is terrible at times lately, she is generally a well behaved. polite and sweet 3 year old but she just flips in a matter of seconds. She was an angel yesterday after being badly behaved the day before and DH having a word with her but when it came to brushing her teeth before bed she had a meltdown! SImply because she wanted to do it and the deal is we brush first THEN she does it as she can't do it properly at her age. She ended up hitting me and baby whilst I was feeding him. When she's behaving like that neither of us have a clue how to discipline her and it's pretty hardgoing. She was very remorseful afterwards and I could tell she felt terrible for trying to hurt the baby but I know for a fact it won't stop her doing it again.

This parenting lark is pretty demanding at times!!

DH has a job interview this week, a step down in his 'career' but it's where I work so a great employer and only 3 miles from home and it's over 4 days which will make childcare easier when I return to work (must stop thinking about this! :)) Only problem is it's not permanent but I guess something else could come up, or it could become perm and he tends to change jobs every 12-18 months anyway.

    Hello,

£10 arrived in mine and DH paypal accounts today so arranged a £20 OP for end of week, Barclays require more notice to send them now for some reason. Hopefully get to payout on Onepoll next week as it's pretty good on there at the moment. Waiting for GTM cheque to arrive so those 3 survey sites will result in a £100 OP! That makes it feel worthwhile.

If a transaction on TCB was 'on ice' will it just suddenly appear once validated? It was for home insurance.

More car insurance hunting today. Aviva have a pretty good cashback offer so off to get some quotes. Need to find another £180 to knock a month off my term, achieving that will take me nicely over £3000 for the year aswell.

DH got job interview on thurs so fingers crossed for that. He really wants it even though it's a step down but he's hoping to work his way back up (for a better employer) and the benefits are 3 days off (current boss trying to make him do 6) and no travelling. It's not really any less pay as he'll get weekend enhancements which pay well. I'm a bit nervous it's only a fixed term temporary position though.

Busy day so far! I didn't get out of bed til after 9am tho as it is DH's day off and I was up a lot with the baby. Been into town to treat myself with some cash that has come my way, not a huge amount (£100 ish) but I REALLY struggled to spend it! Once I got going I was ok though and bought myself some lovely clothes from Debenham's Christmas spectacular. I almost wandered into the children's section in Next to treat the children but DH steered me away!!

Then went to Mr T to spend double up vouchers but ended up buying DD toys she doesn't actually need. Felt awful for not getting DS anything extra but at 6 weeks old what does he actually need? He has a play gym coming off Santa and I think I may wrap up a few of DD's old toys to bulk it out! Am I the only one who has ever done this????

Spotted some bargain disney jigsaws for less than £2 each so got 4 to keep as emergency presents. DD has another birthday party this weekend so they will come in handy for those occasions. Bought another present using voucher from Ip505 so practically a NSD today!
