How far back can you go to ask for statements and therefore charges? Amex card was about 9 years ago!0
-
How long are credit card companies legally required to keep statements for? As I wish to see if they have records from almost 10 years ago, should I just write and ask for them. Any advise?0
-
Also, If I CCA Amex would they be obliged to provide info even after this time, or is there a time limit on CCA requirements?0

Hi all
I got a Nectar American Express card purely to transfer my balance on their low rate for the life of the debt. After a mix up with my interest rate i recently received a letter telling me my standard monthly balance transfer rate will be 1.09% (13.9% p.a.). I'm a bit confused, don't really understand is this still a low rate or does this mean its jumped up to 13.9%!0 -
AMEX, AIRMILES, AND EBAY HAVE COST ME.
As an avid collector of Airmiles I took advantage of the Lloyds Bank Duo card. Never had a problem with Natwest during the last ten years but I do like to collect the airmiles. I also buy alot online with Ebay. So, I thought it was really cleaver of me to buy through the airmile site on Ebay with my Amex card this would give me lots of airmiles. That is until I looked at my Bank Statement from Lloyds. Every transaction is in dollars, each time they convert it from dollars to pounds and back again the bank not only charge me, but it also depends on the exchange rate. Some items have cost me more as a result of this. Not only that, one item did not go through on the sellers account so the money was returned and resent. Each time I have had a cost. The Lloyds Bank statement it is not easy to see what has happened, the entries are not in date order of transactions and each time the item comes up as a different price. I had to make lots of calls to PayPal and Lloyds to get this clariifed. After speaking to Airmiles they told me that they were not aware of this situation. I now am wondering that after my next flight ti would be better to give airmiles up and go with another loyalty schem. Propably back to NatWest who never gave me this grieve when collecting airmiles.0 -
I have had a card since January 03 which has a repayment protection plan attached (I don't recall being given a choice on whether or not I had this). I pay on average £4.53 a month for this silly plan. I was recently made redundant from my job so thought that I should make a claim after all this is what the plan is for - I am now being asked to get my ex-employer to complete various parts of the form for ACE Insurers - this is a tad difficult because my ex-employer isn't exactly paying ball with anything right now, they have even barred me from entering their University campus unless it is for meetings with HR (I am not a criminal, I just dared to make a complaint about a senior member of staff). I also have to the get the employment benefits folks to complete part of the form and send it back with various details of my redundancy, job seekers allowance. Then their insurance company will make a decision on whether or not they will allow my claim.
Stupidly, I do owe them some money and am now considering breaking into my ISA to pay it off in full. I also don't know if being unemployed will make life difficult in applying for a new 0% balance transfer card that I certainly won't spend on.
Advice would be appreciated - also is there a way of claiming back all the repayment protection plan funds because I certainly dont recall signing up for it - it has just been on my account. I let it go because I thought that should I become seriously ill or heavens forbid be made redundant that I would be able to claim - yet I am made to feel like a criminal and have to jump through hoops to get what is rightfully mine.0 -
The American Express Platinum Moneyback card has just increased the cashback rate to a whopping 5% for the first three months.0
-
Has anyone successfully applied for this card since the 5% cashback was introduced?
Am waiting to find out if we've been approved but seems to be taking ages
Maybe I'm just impatient....0 -
There is notification on paypal about Amex payments being charged as US DOLLARS.I almost got caught out with that too!.If i was you, i would just get a cashback card cos at least you can spend the money you earn wherever you like. With airmiles you have to spend a lot of money to get a "free" flight. Its proberly cheaper just to save money in a piggy bankmaggie1949 wrote: »AMEX, AIRMILES, AND EBAY HAVE COST ME.

Martin's weekly e-mail highlighted the 4% cashback from last year in Oct06. Has anyone received their cashback on that one yet ? I'm sure I started the card late October hence have passed my anniversary, yet no sign of cashback on my card. I stopped using after the 3 month offer period - do you think they hold back cashback from cards that aren't being used ?0
