Well, that's what you would think.
But my first statement total was £200.32! All normal purchases. Why does it not say "£200.32 is eligible for cashback?".
It says:
MoneyBack Summary
Previous Eligible Spend £ 0
New Eligible Spend £ 400
Adjustments £ 0
Spend Credited for Moneyback £ 0
Total Eligible Spend £ 400
Where does this £400.00 figure come from? All I can think of is the £400.00 includes purchases made after the statement date. Odd way of doing it, if it does though.
hi,
this is how i think it works:
basically u have spent £200.32 in the first month. They will double it to get the £400 eligible spend.
After that the following rates will apply depending on which category u fall in:
£0 to £3500 - 0.5% (and because spend for first 3 months has been doubled the equivalent is 1%)
£3501 to £10,000 - 1% (and because spend has been doubled the equivalent is 2%)
£10,001 and up - 1.5% (and because spend has been doubled the equivalent is 3%)
So it looks as if u don't get 3% after all UNLESS you spend more than £10,000 to reach the top tier
that is the only way doubling the eligible spend would work..

The simple answer would be to write to customer services. Dont bother calling then Rajeev in Bombay will pick up and not understand a word you say.
Just write to them explaining what you though you were signing up to and tell them what you got. Ask why there is a discrepency. You should have them come back to you inside twenty four hours of posting the letter.0 -
I had the same issue. Applied in March under the 6000 points offer and was only given some of the points. I actually only noticed this recently as I had just assumed they were added beforehand. It was lucky that I did notice as at one stage I had thought of just cancelling the card card since the points were the main reason for getting it.
Anyway, I contacted customer services on 0845 600 5210 and after discussing the problem with first line customer services I was put through to an Andy who seemed to have his head switched on. He assured me this would be fixed by the 9th of August and gave me his extension (five digits long) saying I should ask for him if there was any issue. So my advice would be to call the helpline and make a note of the names and extensions of the people you speak with.0 -
I mentioned this in the "Boost your Nectar Points" thread but have not received much in the way of replies. I thought I might therefore mention it here as well given that there are probably quite a few people with AMEX Nectar cards reading this thread.
Basically I have noticed that AMEX is doubling up my my Nectar points when I spend with Southwest Trains, Young's pubs and Homebase. I can see this under the 'membership rewards' section when logged into my account.
None of these organisations appear to be affiliated with Nectar in any way. Has anyone else noted this point doubling with these companies or others (outside of Nectar companies like Sainsbury's)?0 -
Amex are offering 6000 airmles when you take out their card?
does anyone know what the catch to this is

hi Everyone!
I've been writing to ask my creditors to accept reduced payments and freeze my interest due to my recent unfortunate financial situation. I know this shreds my credit file but needs must. Most others have obliged and accepted lower monthly payments for 6 months. In you're experience what are Amex likley to say, I've just written to them today..................
Appreciate any feedback guys. :beer:0 -
I've had amex platinum card since Dec 2005. In 2007, I have barely used the card as I have learnt about (and started slow stoozing). Don't want to get rid of amex.
What is the minimum amount I need to spend per annum to keep the card fee free?
Can't find it anywhere.
If it is the Platinum credit card, then there is no fee. They abolished this a year or so ago.0 -
My husband had a card with American Express about 9 years ago through his company at the time. The company gladly let him use this card for personal and business use but were not always particular at paying up for the business trips involved. When he left the company about 7 years ago, we still owed around £20000 on the card. They issued a CCJ and a secured charge on our porperty. We paid off about £10000 of this and when we moved in 2001, they then applied to have a CCJ and consequently a charge on our new property. We still owe them this money to date, as we have not been able to pay anything off, My question is am I too late to claim at all for charges on this account? How long would they hold the original documentation for? If I request this and they cannot supply this - can they still enforce this debt? It is still with their solicitors. I cannot afford to remortgage and pay them off either as it is affecting the LTV and therefore not enough equity (kicked themselves in the teeth here).0
