Good morning everyone- big hugs to everyone who needs them, especially kezlou and tru. Good luck to the job/opportunity hunters.
Thought to everyone whose kids are starting new schools this week and next - My nephewstarts secondary in Macnesterthis week, and my fairy gd starts nursery school on Monday. Where does the time go?
I'm officially part-time this week. We started unpacking our dept at school yesterday (the school is currently a building site!), but now I don't have to go back until Monday, when the hoards arrive. I now longer have a classroom, so will be scooting up adn down the corridors along with the kids (all 1700 of them!)
Got an official well done/thank you from the Vice Principal, as all but one of my happy band of Year 11 students reached their target grade or higher. They were given to me for TLC after their teacher went on long term sick leave. They had a range of learning and health difficulties, but they are all on college courses now. I'm dead chuffed for them, and will be getting a big box of chocolates for the Learning Support team as well, who continue to be amazing.
So far this morning I've made DH's sandwiches, filled and set off the DW, washed and hung out two WM loads, chopped a bagful of peppers for the freezer and set up my blog (friday the garden tiger). I've got soup to make, recycling to sort out and yet more washing.
Better get on with it, I suppose (the internet is the thief of time!)
Take care everyoneSurviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Morning everyone,
Hugs to those who need / want them and my thoughts are especially with Tru and Kezlou.
Good luck to taplad for the job interview and hope the job trial for other taplad goes well.:)
It is another sunny day in Halifax, so i have put the washing machine on again. I don't know where it all multiplies from - there's only two of us! I can't imagine how much washing there will be when bump arrives! Hopefully she won't be a sicky baby......
Tru - I'd love to go to River Cottage! I didn't realise you could go and visit. Could you tell me a bit more about it if you get chance? Thank you...
Good luck to all those starting back at school this week / next week and calming vibes to their parents
Thank you for the tip on the Basics chocolate Rosyred, I'll give it a try. I usually buy Lidls chocolate at 99p for 200g, which is really nice, but requires a special trip, whereas I tend to shop at sainsbugs quite a lot.
Well, surprise, surprise, i didn't get any cleaning done yesterday after my lack of sleep the night before. I didn't sleep well again last night, but am much less of a grumpy mare this morning!:o
We went to the pub last night with a few close friends, one of whom is moving to winchester today for a job. It was good to see them, and catch up on the gossip. It is strange to think that we won't see our friend again until October half term, by which time bubs will have arrived and be at least a month old.
It was a new pub we tried and was really nice - an old traditional place with locally brewed ales and beers for those that like them (not me!:p). It felt like the kind of place you could happily go and sit by yourself with a magazine/book and a drink.:) I'm sure we'll go back there. Needless to say, it was soft drinks for me and the hubby (well, he had a shandy), just in case little one decided to make an arrival! Of course I was up all night in and out of the bathroom though, as i currently have the bladder capacity of a small newt
:rotfl:.
I'm hopefully seeing a friend this afternoon, and might try and pick some blackberries from a road near me. I don't know if they've ripened yet.
Take care everyone, and enjoy the rest of your day.

I'm back! one very relieved mum!
DS2 got the job!:j:j:j:j:j:j
DS1 is on the radio right now and doing a cracking job(I'm not biased or anything;):D):T:T:T:T:T he sounds very professional!
phew! glad this morning is over. DS2 has to go in for a days induction on Saturday and he'll be doing 16 to 20 hours per week which is more than enough for him to start with. He also gets a 10% off card and another for his family which will be a good saving for me(Morrisons) they said they'll put him on the checkouts.
Me and his nan treated him to a breakfast in the Morrisons cafe afterwards - he's very happy as are we.
Thanks everyone.:)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Afternoon all!
Good luck to all the little ones back at school today. My youngest starts back tomorrow and he will be in 5th year senior (year 11 i think). Uniform all ready and waiting.
Haven't done alot this morning to be honest - I have been trying to pay for 2 dvds (xmas pressies) on Ebay but can't for some reason check out as my 'basket is unavailable'??. I have been trying to figure out if it's me or Ebay that has the problem. Very frustrating. If anyone has any ideas to help they would be appreciated.
Anyhow, I must get Georges cage cleaned out this afternoon and get the bathroom cleaned top to bottom. Then I am going to make a quiche for dinner. DS2 has footie practice tonight and we won't get home til around quarter to nine so I want it ready to bung in the oven to warm up when we get back.
Our tv bracket arrived this morning - DH decided that he wants the t.v on the wall to free up the floor space. We have a 42 inch tv and I keep getting visions of that advert with the guy doing aerobics and the tv crashes off the wall!!
Well better get a shift on........
Have a good day everyone!0 -
My Mum always gets conned into making wedding cakes. Can someone have a talent for cake? Because she definitely does, she made the most incredibly decorated cakes (clowns, bears, castles!) even before she took a course.
I'm just about to walk into town, have to pick up a parcel I've been putting off getting for ages and buy a slow cooker! I haven't really thought about how I'm going to lug the slow cooker home...Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Hello all.
Best of luck to all those people having interviews, starting new schools, etc. And well done to both Taplads!
Ted went home at 09:15 this morning, and Candy & Cameron arrived at 10:30! They're both elderly Westies, and Cameron is also diabetic - so Mr LW will be doing insulin injections again._pale_
I looked in the laundry bin this morning, and there, lurking, was Mount Washmore! I'm sure the bin was empty only a couple of ways ago.... anyways, it's all washed and outside on the line now.;)
I don't understand why I'm so tired these days - it's getting really ridiculous; 15 minutes light activity leaves me feeling as if I've done 12 hours hard labour! Not sure whether to bother mentioning it at the hossy on Tuesday, because they won't take a blind bit of notice, just tell me to pace myself. I mean, !!!!!!, what do they think I've been trying to do? I did suggest to Mr LW that we ought to sit down and make some notes, because past experience tells me that the moment I get in there, my brain will go blank and I'll be a gibbering mass of nerves. Oh yes.... I have another 5 days til the appointment and I'm already getting jittery.:(
Not sure now whether to give in to the very strong urge to go to sleep for an hour or so, or to push on and make myself keep going. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Do half an hour then kip for half an hour LW, then you won't feel guilty for it.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Fantastic news, Tappers, how brilliant. You must be on cloud nine. I still have my fingers crossed for DS1 (what station is it, maybe we can listen online
) hopefully it will be a double celebration tonight for the Tappity Tappers.
My sense of foreboding as right. Huge tax demand for OH.
I think their calculations are wrong though. Won't tell him til Saturday, as he's pretty stressed with work. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

hellooo
DS settled at the mo at school.....well not had any phone calls anyway:o
Well done to both Taplords:T......you must be very proud today Taplady. It is DS ambition to be a DJ doing night shows:cool:..well he is up from 3am anyway most days so he may as well;)
Have had a lazy day today reading my food mags and sorting out bridal underwear online....still not sure what to go for. The prob is it is an art deco 1930s style dress in satin and shows every bump so I should wear Spanx or similar underwear but I don`t want to look like Mrs Doubtfire under my dress:rotfl:. DS is in our wedding hotel room with us on wedding night anyway so does it matter I suppose.....maybe get them for wedding day and some more erm interesting choices for our weekend away;):p.
I have also got a different pair of shoes for wedding day now as they perfectly match my 1930s dress......these are they......
