  • Back to school already? Yay!

    Morning everyone :)

No, I don't have small people to shuffle off to school, but it should mean that mid-week shopping trips are a whole lot easier again now! Not that I get much chance for them with uni being pretty much full time, but from next week we get Wednesday afternoons off, so I think that's just become my designated shopping time, until I'm off on placement... Anything to avoid being in busy shops - I end up getting frustrated and annoyed, and don't manage to pick up anything in my list, or if I do, the use-by dates are rubbish cos I was in a rush to get everthing and get out again.

Need to finish getting ready for this weekend/graduation/parents visit tonight, can't believe how fast everythings rolled around. Will finish packing first, then finish off the cleaning I think, only got the bathroom left to do now, so not too bad.

No idea what to cook for tea, don't think there's anything in the fridge that desperately needs using before the weekend (apart from the milk anyway), so I'll probably just drag something out of the freezer when I get in

Have a lovely day everyone :)

    Morning all

Bright and sunny here, typical DS2 goes back to school today and DS1 on Monday!

Had roast loin of pork, mash, veg and gravy last night for dinner, then apple pie for anyone who had room for dessert. Made a honey and banana loaf yesterday afternoon so that has sorted lunchbox sweet treats, had some bananas that were ripening too quickly, feeling quite proud really as haven't made that before and bananas would normally have gone in the bin. Tonights dinner is going to be pasta with smoked sausage and mushrooms in a creme fraiche sauce.

Spent yesterday afternoon trying to menu plan for next week using as many items as I can from the freezer and storecupboard - think there may be some interesting combinations!!

Will be getting DS2 off to school then going for a haircut. Will then drop into L**l for creme fraiche only, then back home to tackle the ironing mountain, we're not away this weekend so will hopefully be able to catch up with jobs that have been neglected whilst kids been on holiday - that's lots of jobs to keep me busy for the next few months then!! 1 load of washing on the line already, and another now in the WM. Made HM bread last night, so DS2 had that for brekkie this morning. Want to tackle ironing, washing, and drying, housework, change the beds and try to sort DS2's bedroom at least so we can walk on the carpet - don't ask! Have starting thinking about C*******s as money is a tight at the moment so trying to plan ahead - I have already got a few prezzies sorted.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

  • Thanks to celyn90 for starting today's thread.

It's a beautiful morning in Glasgow today although I suspect it will be cold if the sky was as clear overnight as it is now. But that's OK. I'm feeling very autumnal and would welcome the opportunity to wrap up warm and do some nesting.

My mum and I are getting our eyebrows waxed today (a luxury but we're worth it ;p). I've forgotten to take lunch and dinner out of the freezer to defrost and am cross with myself for that but, hey ho.

Well-wishes to got all the children (and parents!) who're starting school or going back to school today. I'm always sad to see the summer holidays end but it does mean there's lots of lovely stationery in the shops!

    Welcome back, freyaluck.

Time for me to think about breakfast - my tummy's grumbly.

    morning!

Celyn - good luck with the cake - hope it all goes well and am looking forward to seeing a piccie! x

Am a bit on the nervous side this morning(IBS playing up:eek: always does when I'm nervous or stressed) DS2 is up ready for his interview. We're going early so he can have a good look round the shop first and me and Mum can give him a pep talk to try and boost his confidence.
DS1 is extremely happy to get the chance of a radio show today - he's live on air from 11 till 2 doing the lunchtime request show so we've tuned every radio in the house into the station - just need to do the car now:D all his friends are going to tune in too and most of the family:D if it goes to plan he'll be doing the afternoon show on weekdays.

OS wise - WM is on - stripped the bed this morning. Have had a quick clean through - not a clue whats for tea as my head can get beyond this morning yet!
Off to get a bit of toast now

have a great day all, I'll be back with an update later x

    Morning :hello:

Good luck to the Taplads today :D

Mr tru's boss has decided to have a refurbishment sale. This is either very good or very bad, depending on the intention behind it, which we don't know and can't find out. Every time things look shaky for us, I go into survival mode but it doesn't seem to make much difference, we still end up skint. I had plans for my biz but was dithering about them, mr tru said "just go ahead anyway, you'll never get anywhere if you don't". So that's that then, I'm expanding :D Ooooh don't I sound like a big money spinning company? :rotfl: I just want to get to the stage where I'm making a living.

I'm waiting to hear about our friend's funeral. He had a couple of chest pains on monday, rang an ambulance but died on the way to hospital. I spent all of tuesday afternoon like this

I'm going to shred a ton of paper today. I want to stock up on hay and animal food, will probably buy three times the amount that we usually do. That way when I start working, my routine is completely thrown off and I'm running round like a loon noticing things I've forgotten to do (this WILL happen, and I'll be moaning that I can't cope til I get used to it, lol), the animals will be OK. The youngest person in our house is 19 so they can all sort themselves out.

Lately, I've been trying to get most things done early and at teatime, leaving me some free time during the day. It's working quite well, so working shouldn't mess me around too much :D I'm a bit bored during the day ATM though.

I have a little stash of money in the house, mr tru knows about it but doesn't know how much or where it is - his choice, I'm not THAT much of a control freak :D It's our emergency fund (was our kitchen fund, but hey ho) and I need to list a load of stuff on ebay to add to it.

We're off to River Cottage on sunday, can't wait for that :j

    Morning

At w*rk already... tired but well fed - DH had to work 5am-6am this morning and was hungry so we went to McD's and got us all breakfast :D

little ones have pack-ups, I have left over chilli, a wrap and some cheese cubes (cathedral city was half price in Mr A's - lovely!) and grapes.

Have stuck a whole chicken (from the M&S dine in) in the SC this morning which we'll have tonight - probably with chips or maybe mash & beans. Ds's are out on a trip with the community centre tonight so they may end up getting a subway.

Didn't have much time this morning so DS-D has instructions to put a few pots from the sink into the DW when she gets in and DS-S is to put the towels in the WM. DS1 did the downstairs floors, hoovered upstairs and straightened the bathroom for me last night. DS2 watched.

Need to meal plan and do a shopping list - have two MS jobs this weekend and have to spend £10 in each food bit so I'll make sure I get what I need!

Right better do something constructive I am doing a b!(*h of a bank rec at the minute
