A council issued one or a private parking company one ? If the latter I assume your going to fight using all the helpful tips obtained on here and report back ! :T"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Yes, of course I'll have to sell that new ipod to cover the upfront expenses in fighting it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Did you ever manage to pull together that info about how many invoices were issued, paid, chased, pursued through court, etc?0 -
If you park on my land, I will clamp your tin box and charge a ransom for you to get your property back.
Surely it is an old law to encourage peasants to maintain their hedges and stop their property being a nuisance on other peoples' land?
Well, as far as animals go, the old common law was codified into statute in 1971.

and on the law here:

Note the right to detain the property until your "damages" have been paid and the requirement to tell the police you are detaining the property within 48 hours.
I see this as completely analogous to finding a tin box on wheels has churned up your land and then clamping it.0 -

You didn't really expect a sensible and enlightening reply did you?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Well. You've got to ask.0

You don't give much of a chance do you? Bluelagoon hasn't logged in in about 5 days. Unless you're attributing him with psychic powers and that he's deliberately not answering the question having read it in his mind."She is quite the oddball. Not yet, but I will do shortly - believe it or not I do have other things to do in addition to posting here and issuing parking charge tickets.
Anyway, once I do post the information you and your cronies will just say it's all made up!0 -

Shame on you for having a life

I'm sure once you stop posting information of dubious merit and start giving something that can be checked, I'm sure these accusations will stop!
I've been much entertained by this thread - I'm sure it serves your intended purpose of muddying the water for anyone in two minds about challenging their [strike]penalty[/strike], oops, parking charge notice.
Just to hark back to something you said earlier; The reality is many people who do not pay a correctly issued parking charge end up in Court with a significantly increased bill and/or a damaged credit record.
In the extremely unlikely event that your (properly completed) defence fails, you can pay the judgement within 7 days and the judgement will be discharged without ever appearing on your credit record. Pay within 7-30 days and it will appear, but will be marked as "satisfied".
I agree with the sentiment of the earlier post calling for Martin L to push for more public exposure - many of these 'reputable' companies also have wheel-clamping arms, and remember these have already been banned outright on private land in Scotland.
Finally, just to declare my interest I am currently contesting a claim from one of these companies who have ticketed me despite having a valid ticket on display - of course I have provided a copy to them, but to no avail. The photograph they have supplied me with doesn't identify my car (although you can clearly see the reflection of their parking warden in the windscreen, wheezing on a roll-up cigarette over [presumably my] car bonnet).
What a mark of the respect this firm has for it's customers --- for since I have been sent an 'invoice' I must be a customer, mustn't I?
Needless to say, I've faced the usual barrage of letters (the ticket was, erm, "awarded" back at the beginning of January) all of which have been rebuffed with registered post replies. I have invited them to issue court proceedings - they have yet to do so.
Should they go ahead, I will have pleasure in defending the claim, and paying the fee in order to counter-sue for my time, expenses (including the cost of calling them at premium-rate - against the guidelines of the British Parking Association which they claim to adhere to) and travel including, erm, parking.0
